Hotel with excellent sea view, opposite view (mountain) is an industrial area. Hotel is near a highly moving road (even night), room with little soundless windows which did not allow rest A satisfactory buffet breakfast, but nothing special. The pool and gym belong to the Solinca Group, with internal access to the hotel and can be used several times. To help, a football team was hosted that last night decided to celebrate in the lobby and in the rooms, to which the hotel staff did not give the proper answer to the problem, preferring discomfort and the complaints of the guests the resolution of the situation. I will not return to this hotel, there are other quiet and more targeted options for guests in this city.

My partner and I recently enjoyed a delightful 3-night stay at Hotel Axis in Viana do Castelo. For us, a blend of convenience and tranquility was key, and this hotel nailed it with its location – just a quick 5-minute drive from the city center. As a business traveler, the reliable and efficient staff made the entire experience seamless, from check-in to check-out. Our room provided a serene space with essential amenities and a charming city view, ideal for a restful night's sleep. The unexpected highlight was the well-equipped gym, perfect for maintaining our fitness routine together. We stayed in room 206 with simply stunning views of the Basilica de Santa Luzia, Viana do Castelo, and the ocean right from our balcony! It met, or possibly exceeded, the view from our hotel in Positano, Italy (which was gorgeous)! The hotel itself was charming and had a great outdoor patio where we relaxed and enjoyed a glass of wine before dinner. The service both at the front desk and in the dining room was very professional. Our dinner was good (not outstanding) and breakfast was very good including the coffee. If you wish to tour the town we recommend you consider taking the funicular near the Basilica which goes down the mountain into town. The Pousada kindly provided a map and good directions. The funicular was great and we enjoyed visiting the town too. Do note the funicular hours of operation.

Our experience at this hotel was outstanding. After a long day's walk with backpacks on the Camino Portuguese, it was wonderful to be greeted by the hotel's reception staff with an invitation to take a bath and relax and then come back to the front desk with our passports to complete the check in. We were also invited to feel free to bring any hand washed laundry that we did to the front reception to be dried in the hotel's dryer and returned! The room was very attractive, roomy and comfortable. The breakfast had everything that we could possibly want and was available early, which was appreciated. I highly recommend this hotel.

This was a nice little boutique hotel right near the historic center. We were always greeted with a smile and treated kindly. I shared a room with my son and the twin beds were more than adequate. Bathroom is on the small side but it was fine for our needs. The hotel is a little older but the elevator worked great and the entire property was well kept and clean. My only caveat was there there was no outdoor seating area, you have to wear a swim cap and water shoes for the pool and the pool was indoors in a very hot room. The continental style breakfast buffet was good and provided lots of variety. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again!

I spent a splendid few days at this fabulous and unique hotel in Viana do Castelo with my sister. Based in an old chocolate factory this hotel is designed all around the concept of chocolate. The rooms are themed; we stayed in Roca, which is a name used for the areas where the cacao is grown and harvested. It came with a small balcony with chairs and table which was nice. The staff where all really helpful and kind, and worked around our needs specifically at breakfast with my sister having a couple of allergy requirements and myself needing different times due to onward travel and taking part in the Etape Portugal cycle race. The hotel was spotlessly clean and very relaxing, it was nice to sit outside on a few of the evenings and enjoy a tea and cold chocolate drink! Breakfast was served at the tables and was very good with a number of pastries, cake, pancakes, meat, cheese, fruit and a choice of drinks, cereals and much more. We also loved looking around the museum below; all about the history of chocolate with lots of great info and facts and few hands-on elements, like making a drink of the chocolate drink Montezuma used to have 50 of a day, wow! The shop adjacent to the reception has a number of chocolate gifts made on site as well as hand-picked external gifts that are suitable for any chocolate lover! The location was ideal for me taking part in the Etape Portugal as it was only a few minutes walk to the start of the race. It was also very close to the station and all the key restaurants, shops and cultural buildings in the city. Viana do Castelo itself is a wonderful place and the Monte Santa Luzia offers amazing views across the region and out along the coast. Overall it was a fantastic experience and I'd love to return in the future and explore the area more! Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

I stayed here for a night on April 21 with three more friends and we all love it. All staff are very friendly and collaborative, both at the reception and at the breakfast room. The facilities are very good, with all conditions and mostly very clean. Add to these qualities is in a great place, near everything you have to visit. I recommend and will return in the future

Had the room all to myself. It's a really modern property overlooking the sea /river. The breakfast was excellent as ever. Great stop off between Porto and Santiago de Compostela. Sadly only two trains per day!
