I first heard about this place on Instagram and thought it was so beautiful. Its incredible structure is just as gorgeous when you see it in person. The staff were very accommodating and attentive. It was so cool because they had a machine that translates different languages depending on what you speak. This was the first time I’d ever seen anything like it and found it very helpful as I don’t speak Mandarin. Breakfast isn’t included but you can purchase their set meals for 37 yuan and have it while looking out at the beautiful courtyard. If you need train station transfer, you can easily ask for it for 80 yuan per way which made my check in and check out process smooth. They also allow you to try on their cultural costumes for free. If you need hair, makeup and photography services than it’s 499 yuan. As a solo traveler, I decided to try it out. They were very nice, however I definitely struggled with the very white makeup since I myself am very tanned. In their defense they did their best with trying to give me something darker and in the makeup room it seemed fine. But with the different lighting outside and the camera flash, when I got my pictures back I basically had a ghost face 😞 The foundation also wasn’t applied to my neck and arms, so it was very apparent. I’ve asked the photographer to help standardize my skin so hopefully that helps whenever it’s done. You receive a total of 9 retouches photos as part of the package. However, if you prefer to do your own makeup or are traveling with others then they can take pictures for you instead. The place is very convenient for finding restaurants and if you’re primary goal is the visit the old town. It’s very close by, so I was able to explore easily and then return to the hotel for breaks when needed. Lastly, you can use their laundry machines and get laundry pellets for free. Ideally this is great. But I will say the drying part is dreadful. The instructions say to do the 2/3 rule. However, even when I followed and put a small batch of clothes in it never dried. I tried once for 1.5 hours, then again for another hour, and still nothing. That was probably the only real part that was frustrating.

The hotel environment is fantastic, with many hot spring pools and lots of trees, plus a variety of small animals. Our room had floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides, and we could even project movies. There's also a small private courtyard outside for a personal hot spring bath, which was amazing. The front desk staff were very attentive and detailed in their service, which was excellent. However, there was a minor flaw: there was no toilet paper holder in the restroom. The toilet paper was placed next to the sink outside the door, meaning you had to stand up to reach it, which was quite awkward.

The room was clean and tidy, and the smart assistant Xiaodu was very convenient. Every staff member I encountered, from the front desk to the housekeeping auntie, was very polite and enthusiastic. The location is super convenient, with a night market downstairs, making it easy to eat, live, and get around! 👍🏻

Our stay at Shangri-La was truly unforgettable and exceeded all expectations! Before sharing details about our stay, we would like to give special recognition to several team members whose outstanding service made such a positive impact on our experience: 麦克, 小钢, Alan, 小罗, and 小雨. Each of them demonstrated exceptional professionalism, kindness, attentiveness, and genuine care. We are writing this review in large part because we hope management is aware of their incredible efforts, as they truly represent the very best of the hotel’s hospitality. Even before we arrived, the team created a WeChat group and warmly welcomed us, making us feel cared for from the very beginning. The service throughout our stay was exceptional. Upon arrival, the staff helped carry our very heavy luggage to our room and consistently went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying our time at the hotel. After check-in, 麦克 gave us a detailed tour of the room and thoughtfully explained how to use the oxygen supply, which immediately put us at ease. He was also incredibly helpful in recommending places to visit and things to do in the area. His advice, including reminding us not to shower on our first night due to the high altitude, helped us acclimatize comfortably and avoid altitude-related discomfort. We also had the opportunity to make flower candles during our stay, which was a wonderful experience. A special thank you to 小钢, who patiently guided us through the activity and even carefully packed our finished candles so beautifully that all we had to do was pick them up and bring them home the next day. It was such a thoughtful gesture and a wonderful example of the attention to detail that made our stay so special. One of the highlights was the beautiful property and the adorable animals on-site. Alan even took the time to cut fresh carrots for us to feed the goats, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the experience even more enjoyable. The hospitality never stopped, no matter how late it was. We returned to the hotel around 11pm one evening after a long day of exploring, and 麦克 prepared comforting hot dessert soup for us (despite it being past the time for dessert soup). It was exactly what we needed and such a memorable gesture that made us feel truly cared for. Another moment that stood out was late one night when we realized we needed extra towels and pillows. 小罗 responded quickly and kindly helped us get everything we needed despite the late hour. His willingness to assist us so promptly made us feel incredibly well looked after and was yet another example of the outstanding service we experienced throughout our stay. We were also especially grateful to 小雨 for helping us navigate a Taobao return during our stay, which could have been quite complicated without her assistance. Several other staff members also kindly helped with collecting my package. Their teamwork and willingness to assist with something beyond the usual scope of hotel services truly impressed us. As our trip came to an end, Alan kindly drove us to the train station early in the morning and gave us a warm send-off. It was the perfect ending to an already wonderful stay and reflected the genuine care and hospitality we experienced throughout our time at the hotel. The warmth, attentiveness, and sincerity shown by every member of the team made our experience in Shangri-La truly wonderful. Every interaction reflected a level of hospitality that is increasingly rare to find, and their genuine care played a significant role in making this trip so memorable. We are incredibly grateful for the experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Shangri-La. We will definitely be back!

Well, love the dog (Bala, if I spelled it correctly). Nice ”Loft” style hotel, love the style and vibe. Staffs are friendly and available on wechat whenever they are not at the front desk. Regarding my room, it is good but I regretted getting the 2-storey one, because it made going to the toilet at downstairs in the middle of the night both a hassel and dangerous (if you got wobbly legs when half asleep and coz there is no motion senor lights - you need to rely on your eyes and sense if you dont want to switch on the bright lights). Also the sun roof ceiling is low and I did bumped my skull twice in a night. 2-Storey with sun roof is cool only in concept im afraid (especially whe the night sky is cloudy anyways) Anyway, location is pretty good. Hotel's complimentary fetching from the station/airport is awesome too. Hmm what else, oh you could borrow some winter jackets from them if you need some (not if you are super big size though).

After a great first night, I decisively extended my stay for two more nights at this hotel. The front desk staff, both the young man and young woman, proactively offered to switch my room so I could experience different ethnic homes. They also provided a complimentary traditional costume experience, which got me a 200%回头率 (200% head-turning rate - basically, everyone stared at me in a good way!). The complimentary rose tea was delicious, and the breakfast they offered kept me full enough to play all morning without feeling hungry. The complimentary roasted milk also left me wanting more. All in all, this is a hotel that offers a complete and satisfying experience, providing excellent value for money.

Our stay this time was absolutely fantastic! The location of the accommodation is incredibly convenient – we could walk to the Starlight Night Market and all the popular restaurants in Gaozhuang, which saved us a lot of time and effort. The room was cozy and comfortable, clean and bright, making us feel relaxed the moment we stepped in. The owner is super nice and communication was incredibly smooth; they were always ready to help. Since we didn't drive ourselves, we inquired about a private car service at the guesthouse, and the price was very fair and reasonable. What was even more surprising was that the driver we got was also excellent. Not only did he drive safely, but he also proactively recommended attractions and helped us plan our itinerary, offering many practical travel tips that made our entire trip worry-free and fulfilling. This thoughtful and convenient accommodation experience has already made me quietly decide – next time I visit, I will definitely choose this place again!

The room was cleaned very meticulously, the sheets were clean and odorless, the bathroom corners were cleaned in place, the toiletries were clean and complete, and the living was safe and comfortable.

Nestled in a peaceful courtyard, yet close to the action. The hostel boasts a fantastic location right by Zhuan'e Park, and it's super close to the famous Zhuanxin Farmers' Market. In the mornings, you can head to the market to soak in the most authentic Kunming local life, and in the evenings, a 20-minute stroll will take you to Cuihu Park to catch the sunset. The hostel itself is a charming earth-toned building, with a courtyard that's always bursting with seasonal flowers, and a stunning bougainvillea tree. The bar on the first floor and the ping-pong and billiard tables in the courtyard are the social hubs, where you'll meet backpackers from all corners of the globe every day – the atmosphere is absolutely incredible!

Our group of eight traveled around Yunnan for 12 days, and Citymark Hotel (Kunming Changshui Airport) was by far everyone's favorite. The service was exceptional; as soon as we walked in, the front desk greeted us with warm smiles, making us feel right at home. The rooms were incredibly clean and featured smart services. All the slippers and towels were sterilized and sealed, and the sheets and duvet covers were impeccably clean, even better than at home. They also offered free shuttle service, and the breakfast spread was varied, nutritious, and delicious. It was a stark contrast to the cold attitude we experienced from staff at other hotels earlier in our trip. Everyone agreed that on our next visit to Kunming, Yunnan, we'll definitely stay at Citymark Hotel again and recommend it to our friends and family.
