Located in Garai, just 3.5km from Durango. OAR cottage is built on the site of a medieval hut or cruck, built in wood at the beginning of the 16th century. Between 1520 and 1525, it was decided to build a larger, more compact and isolated house where not only stabling and family residence could be found, but also different forms of integrated production; an architectural novelty that spread like wildfire throughout the Basque Country in just a few decades: THE CASERIO.
Over the years, this building, where the most ancestral rites of Basque popular culture used to take refuge, has taken on a new form, which has inspired Carmen and Manu, majestic and generous hosts, to go one step further. After a thorough and scrupulous refurbishment, fusing the essence of the farmhouses of that time with the soul of an English cottage, they open the doors of their nine rooms where attention, comfort and exclusivity will be their hallmark, in addition to the fascinating details meticulously placed in every corner. A place of tranquillity to disconnect from the everyday, to seek inspiration, to enjoy the small pleasures and above all to feel like your home away from home.
"Only about ten rooms! The environment is good, there is a good restaurant in about two minutes on foot, because it is always in the suburbs, so it is not recommended to open the window, there will be a lot of insects walking into the cockroach!"
