PPianzhidetongxiaojieFirst off, Ivy's ambiance is subtly pleasant and very comfortable.
The service, I found, was just right. The way staff would nod and smile every time I entered, that subtle presence of 'we're here if you need us' felt really good. Almost all facilities have no time limits (except for the sauna which closes at midnight), so no need to rush for showers or the gym. It's perfect for night owls to quietly explore the hotel at any time! The lounge always has replenished snacks and drinks, and public spaces are always tidied up. Of course, this assumes everyone helps maintain a quiet atmosphere.
The room layout was smooth, quiet, and conducive to good sleep. The air conditioning and all other facilities were noise-free. The flowing private hot spring was the best white noise for falling asleep. The room lighting was also perfectly designed! I really slept well, so checking out at 11 am was a bit difficult. It would be perfect if check-out could be at 12 pm!
Even in summer, it's not boring at all. Although the Summer Lantern Festival isn't a huge event, it's still interesting! At least it's great for photos! I'd honestly love to come back in winter to experience the incredible snowy scenery! There are two young men who speak Chinese, and they are both very nice, so language communication isn't much of a worry.
Friends who have stayed here also said Ivy was a pleasant surprise, a place that feels like home during their travels.
However, to be honest, the dining was neither particularly good nor bad; nothing surprising there. My review might be subjective, but I genuinely love Ivy.

Llxxzt3The room was quite spacious, but the bathroom counter was too low. At 185cm, I had to bend over significantly just to wash my face. You can tell it's an older, established hotel, and the facilities are still quite convenient. The front desk wasn't particularly warm, and the service was just average. Also, they didn't provide any extra bottled water, which I found really unacceptable.

SSummer travelersStaff are remarkably friendly, well-trained, and consistently ready to assist. The breakfast buffet offers a wide and impressive variety of choices. While the room lighting is somewhat dim for reading or applying makeup—likely a deliberate design choice—the room features a pleasant view overlooking the brewery. Additionally, the mattress and pillows provide an exceptionally comfortable and relaxing stay.

The food, hot springs ♨️, and massages were all excellent.
The service was also very attentive. For example, they made sure my child had slippers and hot spring attire daily. They even noticed that my child's supply was running low after a few days and preemptively offered an extra set – something not many places would do.
The only thing to watch out for is the entrance, entrance, entrance!!! It's incredibly inconspicuous, blending in too perfectly with the airport ✈️ environment. We missed it several times on our first visit.
P.S.: My wife absolutely loved the shampoo and shower gel set provided, so much so that we ended up buying a set to take home.

GGuest UserGreat great ryokan. We booked a room with private onsen. The whole vibe of the hotel is so luxury and relaxing. Only stayed for a night but wished we stayed longer. Dinner was amazing. Breakfast is traditional japanese so might not be everyone's cup of tea. All in all a fantastic experience with great food, great vibes and super attentive staff. Highly recommend.

AAnonymous UserBooked two rooms for our last night in Sapporo before catching a flight the next day. For a few extra hundred yuan, we were upgraded to larger rooms at the front desk, which was great value for money, and the hotel felt very new. However, the bathroom in one of the rooms seemed like it hadn't been cleaned – the hairdryer cord wasn't tidied, the toilet paper wasn't folded into a triangle, and the stainless steel showerhead and mirror were full of water stains. Apart from the cleaning issue, we were quite satisfied with the room facilities.

GGuest UserThe public areas are exceptionally well-designed, beautifully blending Park Hyatt's signature luxury with a Japanese onsen resort vibe. The overall atmosphere feels both sophisticated and relaxing. The breakfast and the selection of restaurants are much more extensive than at the neighboring Higashiyama Niseko Village, and the food itself tasted noticeably better.
Service is also a major plus here. The welcome fruit wasn't just generic apples, pears, or bananas; they offered a plate of strawberries, which felt very thoughtful. Whether it was the Japanese staff, foreign staff, or the Chinese-speaking employees, everyone was consistently warm and natural. I was particularly impressed by a young woman in the restaurant department, who seemed to be from Henan, China. She was incredibly welcoming and friendly, making conversations very pleasant. Communicating with other foreign staff members in Japanese was also seamless; there was no need to force English, nor did we have to resort to translation apps like we did at Higashiyama Niseko Village. Finally, upon departure, since the hotel doesn't have a shuttle bus and we couldn't immediately find a taxi, the hotel thoughtfully arranged a complimentary business car to take us to the station, which was a huge bonus to the overall experience.
The basic room type in the hotel building is a large suite with a double bathroom design, offering a high level of comfort.
There are some drawbacks, however. As a hotel opened in 2020, there are already visible signs of wear and tear on some of the leather and fabric in the rooms, so the maintenance isn't perfectly pristine. The views are also significantly less impressive compared to Higashiyama Niseko Village, where you can see Mount Yotei directly from the lobby, rooms, and even the onsen. Additionally, this hotel has more rooms and also accommodates quite a few group tours, so even during the non-snow season, it's quite popular, making it less quiet overall than Higashiyama Niseko Village.

AAnonymous UserOverall, it's a great hotel and very close to the JR station. The hotel has a hot spring, which I didn't get to try. Hakodate is a small city, and the hotel also offers a free shuttle bus to the ropeway station. The night view from Mount Hakodate is beautiful, but it gets really crowded up there.

GGuest UserI absolutely love Hanabishi Hotel — I had the best 2-night stay here. The hotel is quiet with no large tour groups, and I really enjoyed the traditional feel and relaxing vibes. I tried all of their room types, and my favorite is the futon room with a private onsen. The futon is very comfortable, and the room itself is incredibly spacious.
The staff are friendly and helpful, even assisting me with arranging taxi service. The location is convenient, only about a 10-minute drive from Hakodate Airport. I also loved both the breakfast buffet and the dinner set — they truly pampered me like I was the queen of the world.
The public onsen is beautiful and huge. I will forever choose to stay here whenever I’m in the area.

GGuest UserLocation is immaculate - right in the heart of the onsen town where there are many other similar onsen hotels around and a community of guests, local residents and staff, so English is well spoken in general. We also happened to experience a local lantern lighting festival (ie. Like Tangled the Disney movie) where the town come together and provide you with a map to explore local spots and have the path lit up with lanterns - a pretty cool experience!
Hotel is a little old and with the humidity of onsen facilities, therefore a little moldy at times, but I wouldn’t consider it not well-maintained/unclean. Facilities are great, lots of different types of onsen to try out and the hotel tries to keep you well-fed at all times with a lounge full of snacks and drinks, and stay-included dinners and breakfasts.
