Traveling to Malaysia or having an overnight layover? Ditch those hard airport benches! Let me share my experience at Sama-Sama Hotel, the only 5-star airport hotel at KLIA T1.
✈️ If you're arriving on an international flight (at KLIA Terminal 1), whether you need a good rest after a long journey or have an early flight the next day, this hotel is definitely your top choice.
🚗 How to get from Arrivals to the Hotel?
(Includes shuttle service guide)
Please do not attempt to walk with heavy luggage; it's quite a distance (approx. 500 meters).
🛬 Arrive at Level 2: After clearing immigration and collecting your baggage, take the elevator to Level 2.
📍 Find the Buggy Station: Look for signs pointing to 'Sama-Sama Hotel.' The shuttle station is directly opposite the Food Garden.
🚗 Call a Shuttle: There's a dedicated 24-hour free buggy service. Just wait a moment (or press the call button), and a uniformed staff member will drive you and your luggage via an indoor skybridge directly to the hotel lobby in just 3 minutes.
🍳 A 'Food City' Level Breakfast that Amazes the Taste Buds
The hotel's Continents restaurant offers 24-hour service, and its breakfast is renowned.
🥘 A Fusion of Global Flavors: Malaysian dishes (the Nasi Lemak is a must-try!), Chinese dim sum and hot congee, authentic Indian curry with Roti Canai, Thai Tom Yum, and a full Western breakfast spread.
🍰 Dessert Paradise: A wide variety of Western cakes, freshly baked bread, and colorful Nyonya pastries, all visually stunning.
🏨 Hotel Facilities and History
Although the hotel opened in 1998 (formerly Pan Pacific), it underwent extensive renovations when it rebranded as Sama-Sama in 2013. It's incredibly well-maintained and exudes a 5-star quality.
✨ Room Types: Offers 442 rooms, including Deluxe, Premier, and more luxurious Suites. The rooms feature double-glazed windows for excellent soundproofing, and some even offer views of the tarmac.
🏊♀️ Swimming Pool and Gym: The outdoor tropical garden pool on the 1st floor has a fantastic ambiance, and the 24-hour gym is fully equipped.
💆 Sari Kayangan Spa: Provides professional Malay massage services, perfect for relieving flight fatigue.
🍸 Traveller’s Bar & Grill: Features live band performances in the evening, offering steaks and various cocktails in a wonderful atmosphere.
✨ As a national airport hotel, it frequently hosts dignitaries, sports stars (like F1 drivers), and VVIPs attending international conferences.
💡 How to choose a transit hotel❓
✅ Sama-Sama has two properties at KLIA T1; choose based on your needs:
1️⃣ Sama-Sama Express (airside/near Gate C5): No immigration required, suitable for short transits of up to 6 hours, charged hourly, and more affordable.
2️⃣ Sama-Sama Hotel (landside/this review's focus): Requires immigration clearance into Malaysia. Highly recommended for stays longer than 6 hours! Offers larger spaces, more comfortable bedding, and a full range of facilities.👍
I recently stayed at paxtonz, and it was a truly pleasant experience. From the moment I checked in, the staff were warm and welcoming, creating a friendly atmosphere. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. I especially enjoyed the cozy bed and the peaceful environment, which made it easy to unwind after a long day.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay.
The location is very convenient; it's easy to get a taxi, and they arrive quickly, which is crucial in Malaysia. There's direct access to IOI City Mall, making dining very convenient as the mall has everything you need. The surrounding area is also quite lovely and peaceful.
The cleanliness was excellent; the room was spotless.
The only minor downside might be that the room is a bit small. You can still open a large suitcase, but it's a tight squeeze. Compared to other Moxy hotels in different cities, the interior design here feels less like a Moxy and is also quite narrow. However, the facilities are decent.

Even though this hotel is near KLIA 2, it doesn’t matter if your flight is in KLIA 1. Everything is accessible with free shuttle to T1 (every 2hrs) via the hotel or the one provided by the airport itself (every 10mins). You can also do some last minute shopping in Gateway inside T2. The room I booked is enough for a short stay. Its big and kinda nice view. They also have a resto beside lobby with a garden vibes-its cozy and good for a night drink. I highly recommend this hotel. Thanks, Tune Hotel! I

Layover in Kuala Lumpur: Accommodation Review 🏠
🔸Location ⭐
🔸Price ⭐⭐⭐⭐
🔸Ambiance ⭐⭐⭐
🔸Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐
💬 While this accommodation is quite affordable, costing only around 100 Malaysian Ringgit per night, its location isn't ideal, being about half an hour from the airport. A taxi from the airport to the hotel costs approximately 40 Malaysian Ringgit. Furthermore, the room was small, the facilities were a bit basic, and the window couldn't be locked.
As for breakfast, the options were limited, but it was still enough to fill you up.
Regarding transportation, the hotel offers a free shuttle bus, but it's important to note its operating hours. If you arrive after 10 PM, there might not be a shuttle available.

Overall it just nearby airport nothing fancy, for the pricing to be honest not really worth it. The room is very simple and need to touch up, at night can hear clearly ppl walk by and door open/close. But for the crew service is good as they always put on a smile and the next day free shuttle service is on time! 7am sharp the bus left already which is very punctual. Breakfast is ok but not much varieties, starts early at 6am.
However I will not stay this hotel anymore.
Before coming to Kuala Lumpur, I did a lot of research, checking reviews and opening dates for every hotel. Since I'm a super-clean Virgo, I was really worried about hygiene. My business trip budget was limited, so I chose this hotel because it was close to my client's company and, in my opinion, the best option available. After checking in, the room met my standards. If I can't find a suitable hotel next time, I'd definitely choose this one again. The hotel was renovated last year, so everything from the lobby to the rooms feels quite new. The bedding was also very clean and comfortable, which put my mind at ease. The staff at the front desk were very friendly too. I think the only downside is the location; it's not very convenient, and you pretty much have to take a taxi to get anywhere. Walking alone felt a bit scary as the surrounding area is quite old and run-down, with a lot of migrant workers around. I initially thought about extending my stay for another night, but the slightly remote location made me reconsider. I really did love the room itself; just staying inside the hotel was quite nice. It felt safe and comfortable, and I slept very well.

The hotel was very clean and spacious. It's truly a gem to find such good accommodation right in the terminal building. The escalator right outside the door takes you directly to the L3 departure level, which is super convenient. The only minor drawback is that the shower only has a half-glass screen, so water tends to splash out. Overall, I'm very satisfied; it's perfect for connecting a red-eye flight to an afternoon domestic flight.
Very comfortable and clean. It is easily accessible to shopping mall and food, makes the stay really convenient. Service is perfect, there is clear instruction on check in, check out.
All the basic amenities are available such as hair dryer, towel, body wash, shampoo, bottle water, electric water boiler etc. TV, hot water is also available. The surrounding is quiet, ideal for good comfortable stay

SSeng TatThe hotel is quite clean and nice.
I booked for a night king bed room. The room is spacious and clean, quite nice.
However, there is no plug point besides the bed, only have usb port where not all electrical charger is fit and cannot be used.
For the toilet, the water draining system is bad, cannot drain water at all during showering.
For the access card given, one cannot open the door. I went to reception and inform the issue, the receptionist checked and asked another staff to assist me to my room and help me open. We walked till my room and the card cannot open as well. The staff then told me is because of the lock has running out of battery, need another 10 minutes to go down and get physical key to open the door. He then brought the manager comes and she could open the door with her card. So eventually is the second access card problem. I not sure the problem is with the receptionist or the lock got problem. Not a pleasant experience to kee me waiting standing outside my room for them to sort the issue

WWilliam CWOWe got married here last year and we enjoyed the excellent service, food served in Makan Kitxhen, Tosca, and the buffet for the wedding. Special curations for weddings made it all the more special.
This trip marks our first anniversary and we’re delighted to have spend the weekend here again reminiscing our wedding last year.
Booked through Trip:com and was upgraded to the highest floor compliments of the hotel.
Overall we enjoyed the pool, the breakfast and our time in the hotel. Nothing short of amazing!
Wwangzai88Just got back from Sunway Resort and it was absolutely amazing! 🥳 The staff were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. Breakfast was fantastic, with a huge variety of fruits, pastries, and both Western and Asian options – we were spoiled for choice every morning. 🍎🥐
The kids absolutely loved the children's pool with all its slides and water features; it was their personal paradise! 💦 The pool area is really well designed, allowing adults to relax nearby too.
The best part is the direct connection to the shopping mall. It's just a short walk away, making shopping, dining, and entertainment incredibly convenient! 🛍️🎬 It felt like everything was taken care of on this holiday. We'll definitely be back! 💯

GGuest UserI came to stay overnight here to attend our alumni event.
Room is spacious, with a balcony facing the garden. However the sofa needed some cleaning as there were patches of stain and a few (cookie?) crumbs were seen when I first came inside. Parking is near to the room but a bit inconvenient to drag my luggages on the road. I had to carry my luggages instead.
The iron provided in the room was chipped. I didn’t realise it until I added water for the steam to function - it leaked and wet the whole ironing board instead. My clothes ended up getting wet while I tried to iron them. The iron definitely needs replacement.
Food from our group dinner event was below average. Coffee and tea served with sugar and super sweet by the way. Breakfast was okay for the price. Chicken rendang, croissant, and sardine curry are among the ones that are delicious in the breakfast spread.
I came to stay here about 13-14 years ago. But now I think the rooms need a good revamp.
MmistaheryAs I entered room given, as usual I will do short recording for my staycation. But, a bit sad when I saw many rubbish in the dustbin over the toilet cover (picture attached) Maybe the cleaner forgot to throw it out. But, as a 5 star hotel, this incident were very frustrated. Breakfast are good, aircond also good even this hotel were not new hotel.
KKEK RUI HANStayed at Putrajaya Marriott Hotel recently. Overall environment was decent, but I was disappointed with two issues.
Firstly, during breakfast, some of the cups provided were stained and did not appear properly cleaned, which affected the dining experience.
Secondly, I booked and paid for a room with a double bed and sofa bed, but the room provided only had a double bed without the sofa bed as stated in the booking.
Hope the hotel can improve on quality control and ensure room allocations match confirmed bookings.
TTomHeeThe bad: on the 2nd day of our 3 day stay, i went to eat breakfast at 8:20am. There was not much food left. I thought they will replenish. They didn't. The staff told me some 200 over had their breakfast and they finished the food. But I've paid for my breakfast during the booking.
Trip.com should seek a refund from the hotel
The good: the staff at the restaurant. She's very friendly and attentive. The chef at the egg station. He was kind and friendly to me. I've uploaded their pictures.
This hotel is very near to the MRT station. Don't follow Google to guide you to the hotel. When u step out of the mrt, the hotel is right in front of your. U don't need to make a big turn like the Google directed. Google is wrong!!
The breakfast for the 3 days are repetitive. So not worth.
The fried rice is surprisingly good.
GGuest UserI've stayed here three times for business trips, mainly because there are no better options in the vicinity. This lack of competition, unfortunately, seems to lead to subpar service and hygiene. The first time I stayed, in a twin room, both duvet covers were dirty. One had unwashed bloodstains, and the other had three foot-like marks. I had to call twice and even go down to the front desk once before someone finally came to replace them! On my third stay, the towels in the cabinet under the sink had a strong mildew smell and were unusable. The amenity box was chipped, and the shower hose was broken. The in-room Wi-Fi signal was also very poor and kept disconnecting. Honestly, there are just too many issues! But due to its location, I have no choice but to stay here. I really hope they improve!
