My friends and I had a great stay at The Bealey Quarter! The motel is situated in Christchurch City, allowing easy access to the tourist sites, whether you're travelling on foot, by car, or by public transport. There are plenty of buses and metro buses that frequently stop right near the accommodation as well!
The staff were very friendly. We had a late flight (that got delayed even later) and ended up having to check in after hours. They were very accommodating with this, and similarly, when we asked for new towels, we received them immediately. Similarly, they were kind enough to allow us to put our luggage in their reception office whilst we went to collect our rental car on the day that we checked out. My only issue is that I had to contact them a few times before I received the late check-in details.
The facilities were lovely. and very clean! The bathroom was private with a shower with good pressure and hot water. The bench and the toilet were a little high, which we were surprised by, but this wasn't a major issue at all! My only recommendation would be to add a ventilation fan to the bathroom, as although there is an open window above the sink, ventilation was still not ideal. The room came with a heater, a really good fan, and very comfy blankets and duvets. We were also provided with glasses and mugs, a selection of tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, a hair dryer, a bin, a little cupboard, desk, chair, and even a bench where our suitcases fit really well. The view of the courtyard was beautiful despite the somewhat miserable weather, and access to the courtyard via the back door meant we could use the hammocks in the nice grassy area :) The back door was a bit tough to open, and we had to actually get the staff to show us how to use it. My only other qualm is that there is no potable water in the rooms themselves. Instead, our keycard allows us to the Lodge (I believe the hostel area), where there's a kitchen and we can fill up.
Overall, we had a great experience here and I definitely recommend the Bealey Quarter to anyone coming to Christchurch. It was so affordable too :))
I didn't get many good photos but here you go!

I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting this to be a 5 star place, but there were a lot of things that were definitely not 5 stars. The robes were grey and didn't cover bigger people. One of them had pilling all over it, I didn't want to even wear it. The bathroom door squeaked loudly, so if one person got up to the toilet in the middle of the night, it woke the other person up. There were instructions on how to use the spa bath, but not on how to put the plug in. It didn't just plug in normally. We weren't able to use it on our first night which was very frustrating as it was one of our main attractions. I rang housekeeping the next day. Someone came and had a look and said that you had to turn a know on the side of the spa, how would anyone know that? The lock on the door to outside was broken and a small slide lock had been put on. Why not fix the main lock? I used the toilets to the side of the library and when I washed my hands, the tap was all loose and wobbled round. All these things are little but show that the lodge needs to have things fixed or updated. For $300 per night, you expect the best. The worse thing was on our last morning, we got to breakfast about 8:45, the restaurant closes at 9:30 am. There was continental and scrambled eggs and bacon. At about 9:00 am they stopped bringing out anymore bread to toast. No more croissants, eggs or bacon were brought out. There were about 6 tables with guests and everyone kept going up and checking, but they didn't refill. People were saying, they must have run out of food! But for some reason the waiter kept lifting the lids to the egg and bacon to see what was in there, but of course there was nothing as he hadn't refilled it and he was the only waiter!! I was really disappointed and wouldn't recommend it, unless you are getting a really good discount.

Guest UserWe stayed for 3 nights. Location is wonderful. 3 min walk to Regent Street where we ate our meals for 3 days straight. New modern vibe.
However, during the 3 nights, every night there is few min of power outage, blackout in the room. Wat are the chances? I ask the counter but they hv no explanation.

Guest UserIt was pretty good, though the location isn't ideal. It took us about 20-30 minutes to walk from the train station. Getting to the airport required a taxi, which was easy to hail. What stood out to me was the dryer – the room had an individual one that worked really well. On our second stay, we got a combo washer/dryer in the same room type, and that wasn't as good. So, if you need laundry facilities, try to get a room with a separate dryer. I didn't have breakfast. Check-in at the front desk was smooth and quick. The room was quite clean and hygienic. It's a new hotel with large, bright windows. The price wasn't too expensive, I remember paying around 700-800 RMB a night, even in the peak season of January. That might be because I had pre-purchased a package voucher. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it; it's good value for money. I didn't take any pictures of the room.

AxinwukongThe location is fantastic! It's convenient for getting everywhere. The cathedral is right downstairs, and it's not far from the lakeside market or the Cardboard Cathedral, all within walking distance. The sightseeing bus stop is also close by, and the Avon River gondola rides are nearby too. Taking a taxi to the Botanic Gardens, the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts, and the art gallery isn't far either. Both New Brighton Pier and Sumner Beach are about 10 kilometers away by taxi, similar to the distance to the airport, and Uber fares are reasonable. Overall, I'm satisfied. Just a minor note, it seemed like the shampoo and other amenities weren't checked and might have run out without being noticed.

Guest UserThe location is super strategic and convenient, just a few walking steps to airport, bus station to Christchurch city and place to pick up & drop off our car rental. Their receptionists are very polite and always put a big smile when we approached them. We arrived the hotel in the earlier morning and went for city walk before check in. They helped us put all our luggages inside our room before we back and a little “kiwi” soft toy was surprised for my little kid. Highly recommend!!!

The British-style castle hotel is very classic, and the garden design is quite unique. The hotel facilities are new and very clean, and the bedding is comfortable. Gray's Park is right next to the hotel, making it super convenient for walks or runs – a must-visit for fitness enthusiasts. There's a supermarket and Chinese restaurants nearby, and it's close to both the airport and train station, making travel easy.

xiaohhh333A beautiful villa resort, very spacious and comfortable with stunning views from the balcony. There are also lovely hiking trails nearby. The only odd thing was that the duvet didn't have a cover. Lunch and dinner were excellent – not expensive but very high-quality. The service was great, and the room even had a washer and dryer.

Guest UserWe arrived late at night on our first day, and after collecting our luggage, I called, and they responded very quickly. Within a minute or two of us finding Gate 2, the car arrived. Since it was so late, the driver even handled the check-in process for us, which was incredibly convenient. The next day, we had arranged to pick up our rental car and asked if they could drop us directly at the car rental company (I had originally booked a service where the rental company would pick us up from the airport). They readily agreed!
We booked a one-bedroom suite, and while it looked a bit basic, it was very spacious and clean, so that was perfectly fine.
_The hotel's restaurant was also good; we had one breakfast and one dinner there.
Highly recommend for transit travelers.
