This hotel is located in a small alley, with an inconspicuous facade, but the interior is a delightful surprise. At its center is a beautiful little garden, bursting with vibrant flowers and plants, surrounding which are elegant four- or five-story buildings, seemingly recently constructed. The pale yellow exterior is striking and elegant. The windows are adorned with rustic brown wooden latticework, and the interior features solid wood floors, stylish wooden furniture, comfortable and clean bedding, and well-equipped bathroom fixtures and toiletries. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious, and the dining room is also exquisitely decorated. The staff are warm and attentive; our experience was excellent!
The room given was good, the mountain view could be seen, the room was large and the bathroom was spacious. The hotel includes a buffet breakfast, although not rich, but it is completely enough. It is also very convenient to take a taxi near the hotel, and there is no problem with travel.
Due to the change of schedule, the 8-person room dormitory was not extended two days later, so I made a hurry to reserve a private room. I also wrote a review for 8 people, but the location and service are great value for money. Although it's very tired for older people, I don't want to spend money on dormitories when traveling alone, so I use the hotel. Because this room is a private room, there are private toilets and bathrooms in the room. And the bed has a double bed and a bunk bed, so you can stay with your family or friends for up to four people. I was in the dormitory and moved to my private room, so I gave me a towel and used my cell phone until late at night without earphones. But the dormitory is inside, facing the road, the car sounds a little late. Traveling alone, the hotel fee is too expensive, and it would be good for people who don't want to stay in the dormitory.
The hotel is situated on a small hill, offering great views and a very peaceful environment. It's just over a kilometer's walk to the Plaza de Armas, making it conveniently accessible without needing a taxi. The hotel is brand new, the breakfast is plentiful, and the service is excellent! I am extremely satisfied.
Very good hotel, with a sense of history, good service, beautiful restaurant, with a sense of history, and delicious steak 😋 If I have the opportunity to visit Cusco in the future, I will stay in this hotel again
The room facilities are complete and the reception is warm. The staff even provided alcohol to facilitate our handling of the wound. The hotel is decorated in a simple and elegant environment. The breakfast is also good, mainly because it feels great to live in the backyard of the monastery.

Very Good
GGuest UserHad two separate bookings with the hotel as I was going to Machu Picchu and staying overnight there. During my first day at this hotel in my first reservation, I was asked to pay for this second booking together. No receipt given but was assured that there will not be any misunderstanding. Was told to pack and leave my things at the reception and check out and re-check in. So not sure why I needed to pay for the second reservation upfront in my first booking (Maybe afraid that I would cancel it as I was really tempted to). As mentioned in my previous post, the amenities are severly lacking, cause of low water supply, the pipes and toilet filling up is very loud and the water flow from the tap is like the picture at night and it was trickling and dripping one of the early mornings when I had a tour. In short, i will not stay here again.
Nn a g iI stayed to climb Machu Picchu. The access was good and the bus stop to Machu Picchu was very close.
The breakfast time was relatively early and I had to get up early, but it was delicious.
Since there is no screen door, it is recommended to be careful not to let insects come in when opening the window, or to look outside without opening.
I was grateful that the restaurant in the series was discounted.
GGuest UserDoesn’t meet Belmond expectations.
1. Food is average, the same we had in a small village, change a chef, not tasty at all.
2. On a breakfast waiters ALWAYS bring fruits and after 5 min asking if I need them. Why on earth I should eat fruits in 5 min? And why do you need it? Quality and variety of breakfast is not nice — all days we had not fresh blueberries. In my home country I have blueberries from Peru and it’s fresher. How it is possible?
3. Welcome is not in Belmond style: no champagne or good chocolate.
4. One day we asked to clean the room before 12, they did, we came and I was sure we are alone in the room. When I was naked I saw a gardener in our private terrace. He also saw me. How it’s possible he entered our terrace when I was in the room????? With no bell and knocking????
5. Alpacas feeding is also trash: all people from hotel come, you will never get nice pictures like on instagram. Why you don’t make it by appointment? We had a lot of experiences with animals in different countries , this one is the worst.
6. Stuff is not well trained, communication is super artificial.
Place is beautiful, but that’s it. Worst Belmond we have been to. Ask Monasterio Belmond about good experience and top notch service.
GGuest UserBelmond Monasterio: The Best Hotel in Cusco, Beyond Any Comparison
Without exaggeration, Belmond Monasterio is the best hotel in Cusco. Even after trying two other higher-priced Belmond properties and the JW Marriott, I still firmly believe this is the ultimate choice.
The beauty of this hotel is beyond words. The elegant public spaces and tranquil gardens create an atmosphere of timeless serenity. The classic, historic walls whisper stories of the past, while the dazzling golden chapel adds a breathtaking sense of grandeur. Every detail is a masterpiece.
Yet, what truly sets Belmond Monasterio apart is its service. The staff are warm, professional, and genuinely caring. Their service attitude is impeccable—perhaps the best in South America. A prime example: when I lost my credit card, they found it and returned it promptly. Compared to the Los Cabos Waldorf (which I mention due to its premium pricing), this hotel’s service is on another level—infinitely more personal, thoughtful, and heartfelt.
I would love to give special recognition to my butler, though unfortunately, I have forgotten his name.
In short, I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Endless love for Belmond Monasterio.
KK TravelsLet me start with the positives, stylish design, exactly like the pics advertised, from entering the hotel to the resting area to the balcony to the room, all very nice.
But you need to be ready for the stairs if you not getting here by car, going out and coming back from the square, especially if you have luggage or backpack, everyone arriving here were out of breath.
The bathroom has odor coming up from the pipe, which is normal for house this old, if you are okay with it.
I was in room 201, sound proof does not exist, can hear car passing, dog barking, guests coming back from partying at night, tourists cheering & leaving hotel for trips at 3:30am, didn’t get much sleep.
Most disappointing thing was hot water, I arrived in the afternoon climbing up the stairs, was hoping to have a quick shower before heading out for dinner, stood in the bathroom waited 5mins for hot water, was told be staff hot water was out they are trying to fix, came back after drinks, still no hot water, was very late so didn’t call staff, tried to have a shower before check out at 7am, hot water was still not available after another good 5mins standing in the shower… sigh
GGuest UserVery good hotel, with a sense of history, good service, beautiful restaurant, with a sense of history, and delicious steak 😋 If I have the opportunity to visit Cusco in the future, I will stay in this hotel again
JJay Kay NocturnalHighly recommended, I’d definitely stay here again
Location is unbeatable: just a 3‑minute walk to Plaza de Armas, perfect for exploring the city on foot.
Rooms are comfortable and clean, with a cosy bed and a heater available at all times. No TV in my room but honestly, with everything nearby, you won’t miss it 😄
Extremely helpful staff, genuinely some of the most supportive I’ve ever encountered. They were incredibly accommodating and even helped me multiple times late at night when Rappi wasn’t working and I needed to order food.
If you have early tours (4:00, 5:00, 6:00 AM), just let them know in advance — they’ll happily prepare your breakfast earlier for you, which I really appreciated.
They also decorated our room exactly as requested, which made our stay even more special.
MMananxi_MXExcellent! I didn't take many photos, but I'll give you the lowdown! First off, to visit Machu Picchu, you need to stay a night in Aguas Calientes. The town is really tiny, so even though this hotel looks far from the station, it's actually just a 3-minute walk. After getting off the train, it's a short uphill stroll to reach it.
The hotel is 4-star, and the front desk service is great. They offer free hot water and tea bags, and there's an elevator and luggage storage service. The rooms are huge, and the beds for two people are almost queen-sized each.
Room amenities are complete: there's a fan, heater, and extra blankets.
Worth mentioning: the Wi-Fi works exceptionally well, perfect for smooth video calls; and the water pressure in the shower is fantastic, making for a really refreshing experience!
Sleeping at night with the sound of the river was like a soothing white noise that helped me drift off.
I missed breakfast because we left too early, but every single hotel staff member was incredibly warm, patient, and attentive. After returning from Machu Picchu, we just relaxed and charged our devices in the lobby until it was time to head back to the train station for Ollantaytambo.
The price is also very economical and affordable. All in all, it was a fantastic experience! 😘 I highly recommend it to everyone.
GGuest UserBesides the location (5mins walk from train and restaurant’s) and quality of the rooms, the reason this is getting a 5 star review from me and my mates was the customer service.
The people working at the hotel - in particular Nathale and William - were absolutely wonderful. Probably the best customer service I’ve ever received (I mean this literally). They went above and beyond to answer all our questions and helped us navigate train suspensions and protests (even offered us showers and a place to rest after climbing Machu Picchu, post check out).
They didn’t just respond to needs, they assessed and identified what would make us more comfortable and they delivered it proactively.
GGuest UserCleaning lady friendly and helpful. Owners who normally run the place out of town. Hotel is about 10 minute walk to town. Most of the road to plaza is paved. I ate at a very good restaurant in plaza. Almost all the restaurants offer excellent views and vegetarian options. The hotel has glorious views from the rooftop where they serve breakfast daily. There is coffee available or hot water 24x7. The area is quite except for cows mooing. Internet excellent. Hot shower excellent. Eggs made to order for breakfast. Google translate needed at hotel + in town. Wish all hotels offered filtered water. This would reduce the daily purchase of plastic bottled water. I enjoyed my stay.
