February 21, 2026 – Stayed in a Sea View Family Room
During our Spring Festival trip to the western side of Hainan, Ocean Flower Island was a crucial stop. We planned a two-night stay and, for convenience, chose the highly acclaimed Oubao Hotel on the island.
1. **Parking:** If you're driving, you can directly access the island and navigate to the Oubao Hotel. There's an underground parking lot, and if it's full, staff can direct you to other nearby parking areas. For those leaving the island, you can register at the front desk in advance to enjoy free parking.
2. **Hotel:** The hotel is massive in scale. The majestic lion sculptures and fountain outside the main entrance are grand, especially at night with the interwoven lighting, it feels like entering another world. It boasts the most single-unit guest rooms in Asia, composed of four interconnected Y-shaped European castles, each with a unique natural theme: forest, ocean, castle, and glacier. Our room was in the Glacier Castle, with corridors and rooms featuring a blue and white palette and abundant glacier and animal elements. The ground floors of the four castles connect to form the hotel lobby and check-in area. The space is vast, with a cathedral-like glass dome ceiling. In the center below, there was a festive New Year display, a vibrant and joyful scene. On one side of the lobby, two grand, symmetrical spiral staircases descend from the second floor, one white and one red, both adorned with flowers, creating a noble and elegant photo spot. The lobby has four exits, each leading to a different castle. After checking in at the front desk, you choose your path based on your room. Each castle has over ten elevators. The entire process left me with one impression: grandness!
3. **Room:** Both the main room and the bathroom were very spacious. It had one large bed and one smaller bed; the small bed, shaped like a train engine, was a nice touch, and the bedding was comfortable. The room's decor and configuration were quite simple and standard, but the glacier theme, with polar bear and penguin elements everywhere, added a refreshing touch. The shower was good, and it was quite rare that the shower enclosure hardly leaked. The window faced the sea, but there was a garden green belt between the castles, so the sea was distant and not a spectacular, unobstructed view. However, we were lucky enough to catch the sunset on our check-in day. The afterglow of the sunset painted the sea, fishing boats, bridge, and villa complex in our view a beautiful reddish hue. This combination and visual experience were stunning and definitely a plus.
4. **Breakfast:** The breakfast restaurant had palace-like high ceilings and space, arranged in a long strip, which made the food retrieval path a bit inefficient. The dishes were abundant and diverse, with local specialties. During our two-day stay, we sampled Hainan Yi noodles, Hou'an noodles, coffee cake, coconut cake, pumpkin cake, and other local delicacies. My elder child loved the Hou'an noodles so much she had two bowls every morning. The dessert selection was also very rich.
5. **Other Facilities and Offers:** During our two-day stay, we experienced the following: On the first evening, we attended a music festival and firework show at the Guanhai Park, with discounted tickets for hotel guests. There's a free bus shuttle near the hotel entrance that goes to places like the Ocean Park and the Fitness Center. We took this shuttle on the second day to swim at the Fitness Center. The hotel's own pool was unavailable, but we could use the Fitness Center's pool for free. It's a standard 50-meter lap pool, and it was my first time experiencing such a pool. There's also a mini-train station on the island not far from the hotel entrance, but we didn't use it.
6. **Service:** All the staff we encountered were very responsible and professional, indicating a high level of overall training.
In summary, it was a truly perfect stay, making it a top choice for accommodation when visiting Ocean Flower Island. Besides meeting basic needs for food, entertainment, and lodging, it also offered a sense of grandeur that is quite rare.

After our trip to Shimei Bay, we arrived at the hotel with my entire family, including young children and elderly parents, along with several large suitcases. We were understandably quite tired from the journey. Upon arrival, it was clear that the hotel had a significant shortage of staff both inside and outside the lobby – a stark contrast to Shimei Bay, where service personnel were readily available everywhere. Although there weren't many guests checking in at the time, and the scene wasn't particularly busy, given our large group and numerous bags, I had to proactively request a luggage cart to make things easier. For a resort hotel that prides itself on the guest experience, the initial service response would be much better if it were more proactive and if staffing levels were more adequate.
Regarding the room, the promotional pictures I saw when booking showed a sea-facing view with a visible beach. However, the actual view from our room was quite different from what we expected. While we could see the sea in the distance, our primary view was of the hotel's pool area, and the beach wasn't visible at all. The visual impression didn't match the promotional images.
During the Chinese New Year period, the hotel organized various activities, some free and some with a charge, which is understandable. However, it was quite surprising to find that even digging for sand crabs on the public beach area required an additional fee. Compared to the hotel we stayed at previously in Shimei Bay, the activity planning here was indeed a bit lackluster.
On the bright side, the breakfast was excellent. There was a rich variety of options, especially the Pandan Tofu Pudding, Pandan Pancakes, and various Hainan noodles. These were not only distinctive but also delicious, adding a wonderful culinary delight to our mornings.
What truly impressed us was the mature food scene around the hotel. From Coconut Chicken, Wenchang Chicken, Ding'an Jumping Beef (which can be hotpot or BBQ), Baoluo Noodles, Hainan Noodles, to all sorts of desserts and snacks – the choices were incredibly diverse. This added a lot of local flavor and memorable gastronomic experiences to our trip.
The hotel's beach area itself was quite good. The sea breeze, sand quality, and the overall experience were very relaxing and comfortable.

Excellent Stay | Haikou Hualuxe Intercontinental: The Two-Bedroom Suite is a Must-Book!
This time, I checked into the Haikou Hualuxe Intercontinental and stayed consecutively in a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom ocean-view suite. It truly deserves five stars! 🌊 The hotel is incredibly close to the sea with stunning views. You can walk to the mall in 5 minutes, where you can find all sorts of authentic Hainanese local specialties – so convenient.
My favorite perk was the breakfast! You get access to both the executive lounge upstairs and the coffee shop downstairs, offering a wide variety of choices that don't repeat. No need to queue, and you can enjoy authentic Hainanese flavors, which instantly boosts your happiness. The service was top-notch throughout; the staff were enthusiastic and attentive, always ready to help, making for a very comfortable experience.
The two-bedroom suite is perfect for families or friends traveling together; the space is ample and thoughtfully decorated. The one-bedroom suite offers privacy and comfort, with incredibly soft and comfortable bedding that guarantees a great night's sleep. The surrounding environment is quiet yet convenient. Overall, the experience was perfect, and the value for money is excellent. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Haikou!

Out of the three hotels I stayed at for nine days in Sanya – Atlantis Sanya in Haitang Bay, Resort Golden Palm in Yalong Bay, and Pullman Sanya Bay Resort – all with sea view rooms, the Pullman had the most beautiful sea view from the room, and the sand at Sanya Bay was the most comfortable. The hotel staff were very warm and friendly towards children, always ready to answer questions and resolve issues, which was great. When checking out, my child didn't get to see Ms. Jiaojiao at the kids' play area and kept mentioning her even on the plane.
Now, about the butler service, it was a bit disappointing. Responses were slow, usually taking over 20 minutes. Sometimes I couldn't wait and just asked the housekeeping staff directly for help, so I didn't find the butler very useful. At Resort Golden Palm, they provided a small yellow bag which was handy for carrying small items. At the Pullman, I noticed some children carrying Pullman-branded small bags. When I asked the butler if every room received one, they said it was only for VIPs. Honestly, it didn't really matter, as the Golden Palm bag worked fine. Then, the butler mentioned they had prepared a small bag and a teddy bear for me at check-out. My child loved the teddy bear, and I appreciate that, but the bag wasn't very useful by then; we wouldn't use it back home. I don't quite understand why they'd give it at check-out instead of during the stay. Anyway, I would likely choose Pullman again if I have the chance, but I hope not to encounter the same type of butler. Also, the breakfast wasn't very good.

This is one of those hotels I *had* to leave a glowing review for. Honestly, given the price, I wasn't expecting much, and Wyndham hasn't always impressed me in the past. But from the moment I stepped out of the car, Mr. He from the concierge team rushed over to open the door and help with my luggage, greeting me so warmly. When I mentioned wanting to go to the gym, he even took me there to show me around first. And then there were Xiao Jun at the front desk and Raja from India – their service was absolutely outstanding, so professional and enthusiastic. These were just three staff members I encountered, but everyone else was equally excellent. The location is also top-notch, right by the sea, and the cleanliness is great too. Purely from an experience perspective, it felt no different from hotels I've stayed at costing thousands a night. Definitely the best hotel in Wenchang, no competition.

The food selection was amazing, and the pho was especially delicious. The accommodations were great too – very quiet, and the bed and duvet were super comfortable. The hotel's pool and kids' play area kept both adults and children entertained. Being right by the ocean was fantastic; you just step out onto the beach. Plus, there's a jogging track, which is perfect for fitness enthusiasts. In the evenings, there was a singer performing English songs beautifully, creating a really romantic atmosphere. The service was also incredibly warm and attentive, from the lobby staff to the butler and even the team helping with pickups and drop-offs – everyone was so welcoming and thoughtful. It was a pleasant and satisfying trip, and I'd love to come back again.

GGuest UserThis stay at Yalong Bay Welcoming Hotel truly exceeded my expectations! It's just a 5-minute walk to the private white sand beach, where the fine sand and gentle waves are incredibly therapeutic. The breakfast at the underwater restaurant was absolutely divine; eating while surrounded by schools of fish was a double treat for both sight and taste. The butler service was available throughout my stay, proactively addressing my needs and even delivering welcome fruits – the attention to detail was exceptional. The room was spacious and clean, with direct access to the pool, which was super convenient. Plus, it's right next to Baihuagu Commercial Street, so all my dining, drinking, and shopping needs were met in one place. I'll definitely be back!

SShiqingqingiI was a bit hesitant when choosing a hotel in Haitang Bay, especially after seeing some negative reviews about the InterContinental Haitang Bay. However, I really like the InterContinental brand, so I booked it with some trepidation. Now I'm lying here at the MGM in Yalong Bay, but I deeply regret not just staying at the InterContinental for my entire vacation. Let me share my thoughts on the InterContinental Haitang Bay.
**Facilities:**
1. The public areas aren't huge, and there aren't many pools, but they are incredibly clean, and there are a lot of lifeguards. Pool floats, baby floats, and inflatable paddleboards are all provided for free. The towels by the pool are also very warm. The cleanliness is evident; I constantly saw staff cleaning.
2. You need to wear socks in the kids' indoor play area. If you forget, you can buy them at the entrance. All family activities are also held in this area. I saw staff cleaning the ball pit and tidying up the play area at night.
3. The large lawn outside leads directly to the beach. Besides lifeguards, there are staff members specifically responsible for kids' sand toys. Even after 9 PM on the beach, I saw staff meticulously cleaning every single sand toy.
**Cleanliness:** The hygiene here is truly exceptional. Throughout my two-day stay, I continuously saw staff cleaning.
**Room:** I stayed in an ocean-view room, where the bed faced the sea as soon as you opened the door. The room was very spacious and comfortable, and the air conditioning was incredibly quiet.
Regarding the construction noise from the nearby site that everyone's been discussing, yes, it's there. However, it's within legal construction hours, and the soundproofing in the room is excellent. With the balcony door closed, you can barely hear it, even though my room was on the side closer to the construction.
**Service:** From the moment I checked in, I felt the warm service from every staff member. Communication with our butler, Winnie, was also very smooth. She contacted me a day in advance to confirm my check-in time and clearly listed the extra amenities she could provide. When I checked into my room, everything was already set up for me (at MGM, they only contacted me a day in advance and didn't proactively offer anything; I had to ask for the children's toilet seat and toilet cover). Whenever I had any questions at the hotel, the butler responded immediately. She would also inform me in advance if she was going off duty. Even for room cleaning, she would ask us what time was convenient and if we had any requests. She truly was a personal butler.
**Location:** It's very close to the duty-free shop, which makes it convenient for both shopping and dining.
**Gym:** The cardio equipment all had towels and water, it was very clean, and there were no strange odors – I really liked it.
In short, now that I'm at MGM, I really miss my two-day stay at the InterContinental Haitang Bay. Next time, I wouldn't hesitate to choose the InterContinental Haitang Bay for my entire vacation. There are many other things I can't think of right now, but I'll add them later if they come to mind.
GGuest UserA perfect family-friendly hotel with incredible value for money! A huge thank you to our butler Krystal for all the arrangements!
1. **Check-in:** We cleverly avoided the Qingming Festival rush. Booked a Club Lounge package through Ctrip, and the price was fantastic – no surcharge, what a steal!
2. **Room:** The sofa bed converts into a double bed, making it perfect for 2 adults and 2 children – plenty of space! It was like having two king-sized beds, no need to squeeze together. Our butler had already added us on WeChat, so we checked in promptly at 3 PM and even got an upgrade to a sea-view room on a higher floor, close to the elevator – brilliant!
3. **Food:** Breakfast could be enjoyed either in the main building or the Club Lounge. The main building offered more variety but was busier, while the Club Lounge was more refined. My husband loved the Roujiamo (Chinese hamburger), and we also enjoyed jackfruit, pineapple, star fruit, and diced blueberries and strawberries. Afternoon tea included cakes and coffee. Dinner, served at 4:30 PM, featured five or six hot dishes, fried noodles, fruit cake, and coconut cooling soup. Eating brunch and then afternoon tea/early dinner was enough for the whole day! We didn't even need to order takeout once.
4. **Kids' Activities:** So many activities!
* **Daytime:** When it was hot, we went to the Adventure Park (our butler gave us free tickets, yay!). There was complimentary face painting (the little princesses loved it!), and they could even change into princess dresses. Younger kids could play with building blocks, magnetic tiles, and a piano. Outdoors, there was a petting zoo, a zip line, and free mini-train rides (note the operating hours, not all day). The large lawn had hammocks, swings, canopies, and beanbag chairs. You could even climb coconut trees. There were also morning outdoor activities like frisbee and ball games.
* **Evening:** After dinner at 5 PM, we headed to the pool for a bubble party. The heated, circular pool was perfect for swimming, and there was a massage pool. Lying in the pool, watching the clouds drift by, was incredibly relaxing! There weren't many swim rings available, though.
* **Nighttime:** In the carnival area, there was go-karting, movies, trampolines, beanbag toss, and archery.
There were also many classes, but we simply didn't have time to join any.
5. **Beach:** The beach just outside the hotel was very clean. It was just too hot and sunny, with no shade for sand play and no private umbrellas. But the sand itself was lovely and not dirty at all. We participated in a free crab-catching activity one evening, though it was quite challenging to catch any.
6. **Birthday Celebration:** Coincidentally, it was my birthday, and the butler surprised us with a small cake – thank you, Krystal!
7. **Travel Photography:** This time, we had photos taken of both the garden and sea views. The beach photographer also helped us out, as we simply couldn't capture the same effect ourselves.
We stayed for five days and four nights, and I really miss those wonderful days of endless food and fun! We definitely felt like we could have stayed longer!

GGuest UserMy extensive research definitely paid off! I chose the perfect first hotel for my Sanya trip. I was a bit worried based on some online reviews, but after two days, it totally exceeded my expectations. The hotel's surroundings are beautiful, and the location is excellent; you can see the ocean right from the lobby. It has a huge pool and water play area that seamlessly blend into its private beach. While the decor is a bit dated and the facilities are older, the bones of the place are solid. The breakfast buffet was also decent and, for me personally, met my needs. Not far from the hotel are Baishuigu Valley and Yatai Commercial Street, with night markets, BBQ, and restaurants, making dining very convenient. After dinner, strolling back with the sea breeze was both good for digestion and very pleasant. Oh, and the hotel also offers free airport shuttle and duty-free shop buses, which is great. It might have been the off-season, but I was lucky enough to get a free upgrade to a room with an unbeatable sea view. For this price in Yalong Bay, it's excellent value for money. The front desk staff, especially CC, provided very thoughtful service. I'd love to stay here again next time I'm in Yalong Bay.

GGuest UserThis is a true resort hotel. While the decor isn't the most modern, those seeking privacy will absolutely love it. Each room is a standalone unit with its own yard, and you hardly see other guests except during meals. The beach sand is quite fine, and it's mostly deserted. There's also a very photogenic pier that looks just like something out of La La Land! Our butler, Henry, was very responsive, even checking if we'd received our dessert at 9 PM. The front desk answered the phone on the first ring, and the shuttle was almost always immediate. Everyone's service was exceptional, really showing the quality of a five-star hotel. It's also perfect for a run; a 5k at sunset is absolutely delightful!

GGuest UserI travel for business a lot, and most of the time I choose Hilton. The Hilton Haikou has an excellent location and unbeatable views of the bay. You can see the entire Haikou Bay area, and even the long West Coast. You can enjoy the beautiful sunset from your room. Room service is prompt and thoughtful. There's a big exhibition these days, so it's very crowded, but the hotel's service and reception are well-organized, maintaining its consistently high quality!

CCeeCeeCcService: The butler contacted me in advance, thanks to Jill for her excellent service. The hotel offers complimentary pick-up and drop-off service from the airport and high-speed rail station, which is fantastic! They also provide turn-down service, big thanks to the staff.
Facilities: The facilities are a bit dated but still perfectly functional. Both rooms are quite spacious. There are two restrooms, but only one shower. This was a minor inconvenience for our family traveling with grandparents, parents, and a toddler; it would have been much better if there were two showers.
Breakfast: The buffet offers a noodle station, Hainan Zao Po Cu (a local sour and spicy soup), and a good selection of Western pastries. Lots of foreigners, indeed! 😂
The Chinese restaurant serves Cantonese cuisine for lunch and dinner. We found a great value four-person set menu.
There's also a dessert shop and a bar with a very comfortable seating area overlooking the sea. It's a great spot to relax with a drink, and the prices are reasonable.
The hotel only has an outdoor pool, which isn't heated. The deepest part is 1.3m, and there's a kids' pool at 0.5m. Free swimming rings are available.
The artificial beach is sufficient for kids to play in the sand, and complimentary sand toys are provided.
They partner with a photography service and offer five complimentary photos.
There are many children's activities, and we participated in a few. The instructors were very patient, highly commendable!
While Dadonghai can't compare to Yalong Bay, the overall value for money is still good.

GGuest UserEnvironment: As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the sunset and a refreshing ocean breeze. The hotel is absolutely stunning and massive! The coconut groves, lawns, pool, and sandy beach provide endless photo opportunities – it's just amazing! The room has a small balcony, and when you open the door, the view is expansive.
Facilities: They had a baby playpen and bathtub ready for me. Although some online reviews mentioned the facilities being a bit old, everything I needed was there. Hot water was fine, hairdryer worked well. The only minor issue was the air conditioning wasn't very cold, but it was still acceptable. The small balcony was perfect for drying clothes quickly, which was very convenient.
Hygiene: There were notices on the table about geckos, ants, and insects, but I didn't encounter any bugs during my stay. The cleaning staff were also very efficient. With all my baby's things making a bit of a mess, the auntie quickly tidied everything up for me.
Service: My requests were met very quickly! I called for band-aids, to have dishes cleared, for room cleaning, to order a kids' meal, and for a late check-out – all were handled promptly! A special shout-out to Butler Tudou (Potato) – incredibly enthusiastic, proactive, and provided excellent service! Also, the staff at the pool area were very warm and patient, and they even helped me inflate my swim ring for free.
Another highlight was the complimentary Magnolia photoshoot. The photographer was very professional. I just told him what I wanted, and he quickly found suitable locations and patiently helped me set up props. I initially thought the five complimentary photos would be enough, but after seeing the final shots, I didn't hesitate to pay for more. They made a perfect gift for my baby's first birthday 🎁.
The breakfast and buffet dinner included in the package offered a rich variety of options and tasted great. The noodles for breakfast really suited a Hunan palate, and there were various snacks. Dinner was a DIY hotpot buffet, so we didn't eat out at all these past few days, even though it seems there's a food street nearby, haha.
There were also some parent-child activities, but my baby was too young to participate.
Overall, it exceeded my expectations. For a family trip, it offers great value for money.
