Beach Hotels in Penang, Malaysia

Everything about this hotel was great. We booked a sea view room and the view from the window was absolutely stunning. Just cross the road downstairs and you're at the beach. There are also many snack bars downstairs. The staff were very warm and responsible, always diligently resolving any issues we had. When we checked out, we accidentally left something behind in the hotel and didn't realize it. The hotel even sent an email to inquire about it and safely kept our belongings. It was a fantastic experience overall!

The location is fantastic, right by two large shopping malls, making dining and shopping incredibly convenient—just a three to four-minute walk away. While you'll need a taxi to get to the old town attractions, it means the area is much quieter. There's a Hua Yang restaurant right under the nearby Gurney Plaza, and the wait times are much shorter than in Kuala Lumpur, so I finally got to eat there! The facilities are a bit lacking and can't compare to five-star hotels in China. However, the service is excellent, and they even offer a shuttle bus. Breakfast was a bit disappointing; they start clearing up right on time, and the variety isn't huge. Overall, the service was very good and proactive.

I was upgraded to a Deluxe room but it was at the extreme corner next to the service staircase. Grateful for the upgraded but the room conditions were not up to par . Hair in shower room , the shower holder fell when I was taking it out and it dropped on my toe . Hence the blue black toe shown ( hehe ) . I could not sleep the whole night as the air con was very very noisy even when I lower the adjustment. The day curtain was torn . I sound it out to reception the next morning to see whether they can change my room as I was staying for another 2 nights . They did and I reckoned it was another up grade as now the room has a standing shower room . In the other previous room , you have to stand in the bath tub to shower and for a man of 65 , it is a bit tricky . The hotel really needs an up grade too . It is in a good location and CAT bus is nearby . The CAT shuttle is a complimentary bus that moves around the town area . The saving grace for my trip was that the staff was up to par and reacted quickly . Well done on this . Now , I wait for my toe to heal .

Tanjung Tokong Point Residences is a lovely place to stay, offering great value for money with its affordable pricing. The entire unit is clean, spacious, and very comfortable, making it ideal for a relaxing stay. I especially appreciate the cozy atmosphere, which makes it feel like a home away from home. However, one minor drawback is that the lift can be quite slow, and the toilet amenities are somewhat limited. Despite these small issues, the overall experience is still very positive. It is a superb and pleasant place to stay, and I would definitely recommend it to others.

We had a good stay at Flamingo Hotel by The Beach Penang. The hotel is very beautiful, and the room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was also good. All the staff were nice except for one person named mr Li. He was not friendly during check-in, and I happened to meet the same person again during check-out. He looked very bossy, double standard and unfriendly. I would recommend sending him for hospitality training, especially for front office service. Other than that, everything was good and we had a pleasant stay there….

Highly recommended for families with young children! The room isn't huge, but it's well-designed, with comfortable lighting and a clean, odor-free environment. The shower has great water pressure and gets nice and hot. There are plenty of kids' facilities, and the pool is excellent, with super responsible lifeguards – parents of older kids can really relax there. There's also a kids' club for children under 12. They have a private beach, though the sea in Penang isn't particularly blue and has jellyfish, so swimming isn't an option. Part of the hotel is under renovation, but my room felt very new, likely recently refurbished. There's a Hard Rock Cafe on the ground floor with a live band every night at 8:45 PM, creating a great atmosphere. This is a family-friendly hotel with excellent value for money.

The environment is simply stunning, every photo looks like it's from a magazine. Sitting in the restaurant, feeling the sea breeze, listening to music, watching the sunset, and just relaxing – it's incredibly comfortable! The room is also great, very spacious with a super comfy bed. The service was warm and attentive too!

Thank you Mercure Beach Hotel for making my request come true and giving my child a birthday surprise this year. The hotel has a really beautiful sea view. The beach is well maintained even though it’s not that big. The room is clean and honestly, the pillows are the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. Even though it’s close to the main road, the room is well soundproofed. Only downside, the water pressure is a bit low. The soap & shampoo are Made in Italy and smell really nice. I was quite surprised with the breakfast menu, this is my first time seeing a hotel serve spaghetti, and I forgot the name of the beef dish (the one in the picture), but it was really good! The food was nicely seasoned, not too salty. There’s also quite a good variety of food and drinks. Definitely will repeat again one day 👍

Great hospitality and service throughout my stay in Penang Amari Spice Hotel. Upon arrival, the reception team kindly upgraded me to a Premier King room without any request, which was a wonderful surprise. The room was spacious, clean, well-maintained, and had a pleasant scent—everything was excellent. I would like to express my utmost appreciation to the midnight team on 21/03/2026. During our stay, my friend suddenly fell seriously ill during midnight . We attempted to call emergency services (999), but unfortunately were unable to get through to the nearby general hospital immediately. The situation was critical, and waiting another 10–20 minutes could have put my friend’s life at risk. Thankfully, the Penang Amari hotel team acted swiftly and professionally. They followed up with us, and the female manager along with the guy management team arrived promptly to assess the situation. They provided immediate support and helped arrange transportation to the nearest hospital, ensuring we arrived within 10 minutes. Thanks to their quick response and care, my friend’s life was saved. And even after check out they still texting us to concern on the guest safety. We are deeply grateful for their kindness, efficiency, and dedication during such a critical moment. The hotel staff were all very polite, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure. They even noted my request and gave me a quiet room with no noise. The breakfast was decent, and the coffee was strong and really woke me up. There's a mall right to the left when you exit, and a supermarket downstairs. Across the street, there's a 7-Eleven, and GAMA also has a supermarket downstairs. It's a moderate distance to tourist attractions, about a 20-minute walk, and about a 30-minute drive to the airport if there's no traffic. Little India is nearby, so there are quite a few Indian people around. I'm not used to it since I don't know much about the culture, but we mostly kept to ourselves. However, after each room cleaning, we'd find a few long hairs that weren't ours, which I hope they can improve upon.
