Maravu Taveuni Lodge

My friend and I stayed at Maravu for 12 nights. We were only booked there for the first 5 nights of our vacation but loved it so much we decided to stay for the entire trip. The modest accommodations (bures) were always very clean, the beds very comfortable, and the grounds (which include a nice pool) are well maintained and stunningly beautiful. The food is great, always fresh, and ample portions. The staff welcomed us like family and we grew to adore them. The atmosphere is so welcoming that we had the opportunity to meet many people from all around the world. The staff offer a Kava ceremony each night where one can spend time getting to know other travelers while listening to Rafa, Kali, and Russa playing guitar and singing sweet songs. If it is quiet time you need the bures are very private and spacious to hang out in. The staff also organizes and offers a guide (Rafa or Kali) for day trips to a coastal walk, a waterfall hike and a natural water slide. These were so much fun and we felt well taken care of every step of the way. There are two dive shops close by to choose from and the diving was amazing. I highly recommend staying at Maravu, we had a wonderful time and plan to return. Many thanks to (sorry if I have misspelled names) Laisani, Kara, Mari, Beky, Onnie, Rafa, Kali, Russa, and also the nighttime guard (we always felt very safe). Your welcoming nature and attentiveness made our stay at Maravu a wonderful experience and we can't wait to return.

The ocean front villa (and Taveuni Island) exceed all our expectations. After staying at a Fijian resorts at Denarau and in the Mamanuca Islands we can say that Taveuni “the Garden Island” is the best place to come for rest, exciting experiences, great snorkelling and an exposure to authentic Fiji life. The resort is perfectly situated for getting to/from the airport; accessing the jungle rainforest and waterfall walks on the east coast and the snorkelling/diving on the west coast– the Resort will happily assist with arranging your activities and transport. To top this off the resort comes with a million dollar private sand beach – and the ocean fron villa’s private lounge and deck boasts expansive views of the ocean, islands and sunset. The staff were so lovely and accommodating. The resort owners have established a transparent and amazing scheme of helping the staff and their families with education and schooling etc drawing from generous donations from satisfied visitors. We were very happy with the pricing for the quality of food and meals served at the resort – cocktails were excellent too!. For those reading this I hope you get an opportunity to make this your next home away from home when visiting Fiji.

We were there for a week to go diving with friends. The water was warm and clear, with fish everywhere, The dive guides were attentive and engaging. The furthest dive site was only 10 mins away. Unfortunately, we were unable to get out to the marine park. We had a 10 dive package but decided to do some extra dives which were very expensive compared to other places we have dived in Fiji. The resort is spread out over a huge area making it very quite. The grounds are tidy and very well maintained. We stayed in an Edgewater Bure and it was one of the biggest rooms we have stayed in. A ladder led down to the water so we could go snorkelling when ever we wanted. The only concern we had with the room was a step leading down into the ensuite which was very hard to see of a night in the dark. The bed was big and comfortable. The room was clean, tidy and well serviced. Keep a track of your food and drink purchases as they are not itemised on your final bill, they show as a combined total for each sitting. Another guest purchased a couple of drinks for me before they left which I was unable to get as it was not recorded anywhere. The package we had included the Lovo Feast and a $500FJD room credit. The Lovo showed up on our bill and even though it is on the website as being 'included' it took a bit of convincing to get it removed. Due to concentrating on this, I over looked that the $500 room credit was missing until I arrived back home. Although I have reached out through email explaining this, I have had no joy of a reply. Disappointing. Bottom line, the resort, the people and the diving are all beautiful but that is what Fiji is known for. This is our 7th holiday at our 11th resort on our 5th island and has been the most expensive.
