I’d stayed here for almost 4 nights I love the room. Even though I booked a single room, I have plenty of space. I have an option to have housekeeping or the token in the bar, but there's a bit of confusion about using the token in the water. I checked in Friday night so bars along the street are having fun it's kinda loud so the wall is vibrating as well 😅😂I mean you can hear it very loud. Overall my stay it's okay!

The front desk is not very friendly but the service in the restaurant is very good and the breakfast is great

The location is perfect, right next to the train station and it's very easy to spot the entrance. The cleanliness is definitely a work in progress. The key areas were very clean, such as the bed, the wardrobe etc. However there was dust on small things like the towel holders, behind the cupboards etc. (The only reason I checked was because my allergies were acting up but only in the room). A few cobwebs in the room that you only really notice when you're just relaxing. The bathroom was clean but in the grouting there was mould in there, so it needs sorting. The beds are uncomfortable, they're really hard on your back and both me and my partner have left with sore backs after staying, I booked a double bed and it's two single beds pushed together which would be fine if the mattresses weren't so firm. The reception staff both over the weekend and weekdays were so lovely, very friendly and welcoming and i can't fault them whatsoever. The team that refreshes the room were also lovely, very accommodating and friendly, they topped everything up in the room fast without asking and were also great. The night porter unfortunately needs an attitude adjustment, his tone and the way he speaks to you just isn't okay. Having a lovely day and coming back to the night porter being rude wasn't pleasant. All in all a lovely stay with only a few minor complaints.

Had read dome negative reviews but actually had a great experience. Room was spacious bathroom lovely. Fresh and beautifully clean. Loved the decor. Excellent staff, especially as I arrived 1am! Bargain at £41 as well! Will definitely use as a stopover fir Scotland fron now on!

The hotel is a bit old, but the location is super convenient, right across from the train station. The breakfast spread was quite good, and the front desk service was excellent. Plus, there's a really tasty fish and chips shop downstairs!

Stayed two nights in the ”Cosy room.” Room was abit small but lovely and well presented, although I felt the room it's self wasn't fully cleaned. Their was a few cob webs on the ceilings, quite abit of rubbish under the bed and the shower had abit of mould on the sealant around the shower door. Breakfast was lovely, with lots of variety and polite and friendly waiters.

I have grave misgivings about hotels in the busiest parts of the Lake District, especially at holiday times. Obviously they will be relentlessly overcrowded, with harassed and unfriendly staff. I’ve wanted to go back to the Proper Lake District for a while though so took a risk on the King’s Head. It’s easy to find on the ear popping main road up from Grasmere, just beyond the impressive hulk of Steel Fell, close to Thirlemere. Parking anywhere in the Lakes is hideous and expensive. Not here. Relaxed and plenty of room. It’s a long building with a pleasant bar restaurant area and beer garden. I found a rather pleasant residents lounge where a lady called Jo checked me in and made me feel welcome. It does get busy with passing trade but the staff look after their residents. They flogged me decent real ale and Jura whisky (the proper stuff). Breakfast is briskly table served from a menu and is well presented. I didn’t eat otherwise there but the food is popular and well priced. The road outside is busy and a bit of a racetrack, and the occasional fighter jet roars between the mountains on low altitude practice, but the relentless bleating of the sheep opposite soon returns things to normal. I was a little sorry to depart, but the manager said he hoped I would come again. I believe I will, and will even bring my wife.

Temporary transit overnight hotel, just down the main road, the parking lot is large, convenient parking! There are also many travel brochures at the front desk for guests to read, it is recommended to stay!

My husband and I stayed here in one of the larger posh 4-poster bed rooms for 2 nights nights. It is an ideal location, being a very short walk from the village high street, across the road from the harbour with beautiful lake views, but tucked high enough away from any street noise. And because it's a proper hotel, the room we booked was large enough, and even had a bidet. There was adequate parking, a lovely full English breakfast buffet, and a fancy bar and restaurant onsite. The only downside was that the lift was broken, so we had to climb to the top floor many times a day, and construction was taking place on site, but that was quiet for us as our room was around the other side of the building. If you're there in the dead of summer, there was no AC. (Just a heads up in case you're from the states and used to it all hotel rooms) Not currently any pool or hot tub at the time of typing this. I would definitely consider staying here again and would recommend it to my friends. 👍🏼
