Friendly staff, comfortable beds with huge pillows and a superb breakfast! Nothing was too much trouble and requests were dealt with quickly and with a friendly smile. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice and the coffee was nice and strong. I fell in love with Lisbon and will definitely be back!

Awesome breakfast. Top notch. Many choices. Clean rooms. Spectacular views. Train station is cross the street. Airport is 3 stops away. Uber ride is $5-7 from the airport. Cross the street is Vasco the Gama mall. Has ton of food choices and shopping. Water front promenade few minutes away. Must do Sky Bar in the night. Views are unbelievable. Only thing is its around 20 minutes from Barrio Alto area. But you could take the train or Uber ride, pretty inexpensive. Mangers Sergio and Carlos was very hospitable. Attended to all the extra things I asked for.

Lisbon Old Town
It’s been a long time since I was last in a youth hostel, and as a now 45 year old man there is probably a reason for this. Arriving late on the Tuesday night with fond memories of dorm parties and tequila slammers, I was greeted by what I initially thought was captain Jack Sparrow, but who actually transpired to be a very friendly chap who helped us to navigate the intricacies of the main entrance. Door buzzed, suitcases lifted up the stairs and ugh who let mum and dad in looks absorbed, we were handed our keys by a lovely member of the team alongside vouchers for two free shots. Enthusiastically we were informed that the bar was open until 1am that night, although we had missed the pub crawl for the evening. I’m flattered I guess, however we decided to give the shots a miss in favour of a nice sleep. Yup, Father Time catches up with us all… We had a private double with a shared bathroom, and although very small it was comfortable enough. The pillow has perhaps seen better days, but the A/C was a life saver! Spending the days walking around town and doing some gentle exploring, the nights were largely spent for myself at least in the bar area downstairs. It’s a small but perfectly functional area, and in all honesty wasn’t the screaming mess of teenagers away from home for the first time that I had been expecting. At 3 euros a pint I was certainly very happy to sit and read whilst various cool young things did their thing in the background. Declining participation in the pub crawl for a second time, I was tempted with the tapas tasting but plans for the night changed due to friends arriving a day early and diner reservations being made. From a comfort point of view, our bathroom was shared between three double rooms I believe on the third floor, and this was never an issue. I attribute this to the fact that we were likely on very different schedules with us going out for the day and back for the night, as opposed to the perhaps more night based activities of our fellow residents. Bedroom like I said small, but hey, who cares, we weren’t here to sit in a room all day. The breakfast was absolutely fine, and for 5 euros a day you really cannot complain. All in all very happy with my stay, though peeking into an open dorm room one day my god I wouldn’t have survived the week unless you could take 25 years off me! Good job though overall Sant Jordi, and I’d certainly consider staying again - safe, friendly and somewhere I’m sure 20 year old me would have had a blast!

I just returned from a wonderful vacation at Solar Dos Poetas, and I can’t say enough good things about my stay! The location is absolutely amazing, nestled in a picturesque area that made exploring the sights a breeze. Everything I wanted to see in the city was either within walking distance or just a short trip away. One of the highlights of my stay was the incredible staff. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and friendliness. The team went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Their local recommendations were spot on and really enhanced my experience. Breakfast was another fantastic part of my visit! Each morning, I enjoyed a delicious spread that included fresh pastries, fruits, and a variety of options that catered to different tastes. It was the perfect start to my day and gave me the energy I needed for my adventures. Overall, Solar Dos Poetas exceeded all my expectations. With its exceptional location, outstanding customer service, and delightful breakfast, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. I can’t wait to come back and experience it all over again! Highly recommended!

As it is said in the other comments, the rooms are very badly soundproofed... We were given a room on the street side, with a window that did not close properly, and as a result we slept very badly! We decided to leave after the first night, as there was only one room left that we did not want. After having had the MANAGER on the phone, we were told that we would be reimbursed (over 200€). Strangely my card was not working for the refund, ok, and that it was not possible in cash. We were then told that we would receive a transfer within 1 to 2 weeks... I have been waiting for 2 MONTHS! I have had no answer to my emails and on the phone, I'm clearly being pushed around. It's unacceptable, I work at the reception of a hotel in France, we refund our customers! ESPECIALLY when they promise us!!!!!! It's not only unprofessional but also dishonest.

Oriente is this modern uber-cool area of Lisbon, and whilst it's a good journey to the centre of Lisbon, is a cool place to lay your head for the night. The breakfast offering was reasonable and nice, the staff were great, and the rooms (though small for someone who's lived in America for ten years) were pretty well--equipped with helpful things. Top tip: to get ice you need to use the ice/water machine on the ground floor by the drink dispensers. As there are no ice buckets, buy a small tub from somewhere like the Contiente in the big mall, and use that. We Europeans don't do ice much. Other than that, expect an exceptionally quirky hostel, with great staff, and you'll have a good time

I had stayed at this hotel before in April 2023. This was my second stay. There are no building works at this hotel at all and anyone worrying about has no need to worry. We stayed in the triple family room. The bathroom was huge, with a large walk in shower that ran very hot with excellent water pressure. A toilet , bidet, wash basin, cabinet and large mirror all in a large space. There is a hairdryer available in the bathroom. The room itself was cleaned and attended to every day by housekeeping. Three beds and a two sets of doors which open out onto a small balcony. Its not big enough to sit on I hasten to add. But opening the doors allows plenty of fresh air to the room. The air conditioning unit works great. If you have not booked breakfast you can now pay on the day if you want breakfast at a cost of 10 Euros. Lots of the guests seemed to enjoy brekfast every day. The lift is still slow but you get used to it, it did not cause me any major stress, perhaps because I knew what to expect. As before if you need USB outlets to charge your phone/watches/cameras etc then make sure to take a travel adaptor usb hub. The hotel is in a great location for local transport, Trams, Buses, Metro with over land train stations a short journey away. Presently (October 2023) there are city works on the aquaduct to improve drainage and reduce flooding. Tram 15 is curently running from Cais De Sodre to Belem and is not departing from Praca Da Figueira. In the time I was there only modern Buses and Trams were on the 15E Route. Tram 28 is terminating its route at Graca, whilst still running from Cemitério de Prazeres. Hotel Duas Nacoes is not a five star hotel but it is clean, in a great location and given how much time you spend in your room as opposed to being outside it offers everything you need. I would happily stay here again.
