Sheraton Melbourne Hotel

I stayed at the Sheraton because it was surprisingly cheap for the location and star rating. I soon found out why. The sleep quality was not the best - I woke up with a head and neck ache one night and painful for dry eyes the next. The check out experience took the cake though. I was told that “for security reasons” they can only take chip-and-pin payments with a physical card. I was also told this was “standard for all Marriott hotels”. These are blatant lies: I have used tap payments at Marriott hotels on five continents, most recently at a Marriott in Australia just last year. Tap and pay hadn’t gotten less secure since 2022! I’m so used to paying on the phone I’d forgotten the PIN on the physical card. After some arguing I was allowed to swipe-and-sign. So secure! What offends me isn’t so much the backwardness, but the lies to dress up the backwardness as a benefit rather than just cheapness. Never again. Oh and I’m here posting this review again because it turns out negative reviews don’t get passed through to Tripadvisor.

Very nice location, I felt like it was very good pricing. They do make up the room every other day, so just need to be prepared for that. Pretty good amenities. The lack of an established pick up/drop off point will be a little awkward. But otherwise I like the place.
Stamford Plaza Melbourne

My husband and have stayed at The Stamford Plaza times many times over the years and have always loved it, but this was the first time bringing the kids, as we wanted to treat them to a special night out in the school holidays. PROS - The pool and spa were the highlight of our trip. After reading some previous reviews about the water being too cold we were a little concerned, but they were both absolutely wonderful. The pool area was clean and the pool was lovely and warm. The spa was perfect and HOT - just the way we love it. My children LOVED the glass elevator, this was a real thrill for them and they are already asking when we can go back to go in it again. We did meet some lovely staff during our stay, and check in and check out was fast and easy. The room was nice and clean. There is absolutely no view of the city lights (we were looking out onto a wall) but this is just due to the location and can't be helped. The central location is fantastic. CONS - No valet - I'm sure this was a service that used to be offered in the past? Our bags took nearly 2 hours to be delivered to our room, and this was time wasted that we were planning on heading out to explore the city. They only arrived after several follow up calls asking how much longer they would be. We only had 2 towels (and no robes) in our bathroom, even though our booking was for a family of 4. When our bags arrived, we asked the gentleman to please provide 2 more towels for the kids but they never came. We ended up needing to take 2 extra towels from the pool area back to our room. Our 'Indulgence Package' included a bottle of wine which we were told would be brought up to the room. This also never came and I needed to ask for it upon checking out. The real let down though was the buffer breakfast, which was included in our package. We have stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels and this was possibly the worst breakfast we have come across - I wouldn't even rate it a 2. The coffee machine was broken, and there was no service asking if we would like a fresh tea or coffee. My son had the pancakes (pre-made sitting out with the bread) and he said they tasted stale and crumbled in his mouth. The hot food (eggs, bacon, tomato, hash brown) were all stone COLD - not even luke warm. I considered asking if they could pop my plate into the microwave to heat them up but lost my appetite wondering how long it had been just sitting out there. And the fresh fruit was dry and looked like it had been sitting out a long time. I wish we hadn't taken take package with breakfast included, as we could have had a hot breakfast for much less $$ from the McDonalds just around the corner. Our package also included late check out to 12 noon however our keys did not allow us entry back in after 11am. OVERALL - We would stay at the Stamford again however I think they need to advertise it for what it truly is - a 4 star hotel. We have stayed at many 5 star hotels in Melbourne such as Crown Towers, the Langam and the H

Can not rate this place and experience high enough. Truely felt like being transported to another world (think living your best Beatrix Potter life) despite only being an hour away from the city. 🌸 🦜🐿️🌹🍃 The decadent interiors of the suite amongst the most beautiful grounds/garden made for the most perfect stay. The jacuzzi style tub was an absolute treat to soak in with the lounge TV perfectly within viewing, along with the log fireplace! 🔥🪵 The four poster bed was also beyond luxurious with the most breath taking views from the window. Arina & Alex were wonderful hosts providing a fully stocked fridge (ingredients for multiple hearty farm breakfasts - eggs, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, avocado, yoghurt, muesli, fresh orange juice, coffee/tea) along with even arriving to a freshly baked loaf of bread (still hot with butter)! 🍞 There was even mini ice-creams in the freezer. The antipasto board I’d ordered as an extra treat was also 10/10. They’d thought of everything and the place was impeccably clean. I feel so inspired after staying at such a beautiful place to continue to replicate as many of the awe inspiring touches in both my home and routine from interior/planting inspiration to self care. Thank you for such a memorable stay. 🌟

Everything about this place says Motel, not 5 Star Hotel. Lack of housekeeping - our room was cleaned twice in 7 days and not well. We eventually got fed up and asked for clean towels. When we were at reception checking in, there were other guests complaining about their dirty rooms. Fifth restaurant - the breakfast buffet was terrible. There was no omelette bar or even a basic pancake machine. No option for included barista-made coffees either, which is a minimum at any “5 star” hotel. Strato restaurant - we booked this for a special occasion. There was zero recognition of this. They put us at a table beside the kitchen door and in a corner with no views despite a good corner table being empty the entire time we were there. We waited 30 mins each for 2 courses and we’re still eating 30 mins after the 2 hour allocation. The ambience was constantly disturbed by the kitchen yelling “service please!” Only upside was the extra bread and free mocktail they offered us, I assume due to the slow service. Slow lifts - we had to allocate an extra 15 mins to our departure whenever leaving the room. Poor service - as per already stated, the service was very poor if you compare it to any other 5 star hotel. It was average if you think you’re at a motel. Additionally, because they were training staff, service at the lobby bar was ridiculously slow. We waited 15 mins for them to serve 2 wines. Reception also ran out of vouchers (part of our package) and told us to come back later and say “we forgot to pick up some of our vouchers” rather than acknowledging their error. Location - we knew this going in but it is a long walk into the CBD and you need a Myki card because the nearest tram stop is outside the free zone. In summary: Avoid this place if you are looking for luxury. We booked this for a special occasion and were sorely disappointed. The only good thing is the views from some parts of the restaurants.

Stayed in Fabulous room for 5 nights. Room was spacious and clean, but disappointedly without a view as our room was directly facing the service apartment Oaks Melbourne on Market. Bathroom was big too and a nice pleasure to have a bidet toilet. However, the basin was too shallow and it was difficult not to wet the vanity top after each washing of hands or brushing of teeth. Toiletries came in very small bottles, unlike the jumbo sized bottles that we had enjoyed at our previous hotel in Hobart. Bathtub was a bit narrow for a plus-size person to have a good soak. Great location with tram stops nearby and many eateries around the hotel. Pool is opened 24 hours, great for a relaxing dip or swim after a long day of activities. Service provided by front office and breakfast at restaurant Lollo was generally good and prompt. The only gripe of our stay at W Melbourne would probably be the inconsistent service provided by the housekeeping team. The team seemed to just clean and make up the room but didn’t have the initiative to replenish any empty toiletries bottle. Often we had to call the service line and asked for replenishment. There was once before leaving our room for our day tour, we had explicitly checked that we had switched off the privacy button. However we received en email from the hotel at about 4.30p.m informing that the housekeeping team couldn’t clean our room because the privacy light was switched on. How could that possibly happen when we had already made multiple checks making sure that the privacy light was really turned off?! Then on the next day, we came back to our room after shopping at about 4p.m, thinking to put our purchases in the room and rest a bit before heading out again. However to our rude shock, our room wasn’t tidied up at all. Overall, it was still a good stay due to its convenient location though the housekeeping team still has room for improvement.

Before returning back home, we spent another 3N here and was upgraded to Yarra River view. Requested for them to change the bedsheet as we felt it was a little dusty. They changed it but the housekeeping forgotten to provide us with a bathroom mat and also left our used spoon on the sink. Overall a pleasant stay but I don’t really have that five star hotel feel in terms of the room comfort level and service quality.

We stayed 4 nights here just before Anzac Day. The was clean, comfortable and with a reasonable price. We had a king sized bed which was a little hard for my wife but fine for me with pillows a little on the hard side but still ok. Bathroom facilities and overall room size were a little small (we had our grandson with us). Bathroom gear like toothpaste, shivers etc were standard nothing special. The coffee pod machine was also ok. Room doors were fairly hard to push open but locking systems etc worked just fine. Surprisingly as we were within the Melbourne CBD, the room was quiet. We didn’t hear that much external noise. Staff were very good and eager to help both at the front counter and in the breakfast area. Breakfast $40 per head was reasonable but did not have the range we are used to getting at other hotels we’ve stayed at. Still it was acceptable. Interestingly our grandson (5yrs) was free for both the room and breakfast. We used the indoor swimming every night and you really couldn’t fault it as the facilities and water seemed clean and there were lots of towels available. Would definitely stay here again.

A nice cosy hotel in city center. They serve good breakfast! The room is super comfortable and big. The scenery from room is mainly other surrounding buildings. Parking is easy if you opt for valet. But very expensive AUD90 per day (24hrs).

The place is located in a prime Carlton area where you can eat cuisine from different country every day..the place is safe and on until late night/ early morning..the place has a quirky decoration and has all amenities (in fact I liked how techenabled the rooms are). The rooms are very cleqn and are cleaned every day _ one day when it was accidently overlooked, the manager made a point to personally address the cleaning in evening when I returned to the room and brought this to his attention. Last but not the least, the coffee shop in the hotel is just great - you can have amazing coffee and brekkie b4 you start you day here. I would definitely be back to this place whn I m Melbourne, and would happily recommend this to others.
