Crazy Bear Beaconsfield
3.8/547 Reviews
At the beginning of last week I decided after many years to treat my wife for her birthday and I booked a single evening through Groupon. The deal included a bottle of champagne which was lovely. However, the Thai restaurant food, whilst no complaints about the staff, was underwhelming and I could not recommend it. I had the pork belly and it was tough and chewy, not a delight at all. To compound the aggravation our room which was stunning had no window to open and the mattress was so uncomfortable we had a dreadful night with no comfort. In the morning I asked to see the manager who was not to be seen. I’ve written two emails since and called and had no reply. This makes me believe they really don’t care about the venue being a special destination. I would suggest finding a Premier Inn with a local Thai takeaway as I’m sure they would have given far greater service.
Danesfield House Hotel and Spa
4.2/579 Reviews
The overall environment of the hotel built in 1901 is quite satisfactory. Quiet country style, Marlow has boats to play, 40-50 minutes drive from Windsor Castle and Bicester respectively, Uber is not easy to use in the countryside, you must use the local taxi cooperated by the hotel. Although this is a quiet and comfortable place with rich heritage, the service is quite old-fashioned. When I ordered food for my children, I wanted to give them more choices, so I ordered two staple dishes. My husband and I don’t like hotel meals very much. So I ordered an all-you-can-eat meal, but the waiter said behind our backs that we were weird, children ordering so many adults would not eat anything... I think it is because we are foreigners that they discriminate against them. The conversation at the front desk is also eccentric. In short, it is very conservative and old-fashioned, focusing on quietness. Also, the rooms are old and tripping.
Cliveden House - an Iconic Luxury Hotel
4.6/542 Reviews
The Clivedon House Hotel is a beautiful and elegant Palace with a great history. The Lobby Hall is very impressive with furniture, wood, paintings and the stairs. We enjoyed very much our room with antiques, the marble bathroom and also the dining room including the food. The large breakfast buffet is presented in a seperate and very beautiful room. The Hotel Gardens and the Park are famous in England and in a very short walk we went down directly to the River Thames. The walk through the forest just behind Clivedon was very pleasant for us too. The Hotel has a large heated outdoor pool and also a Treatment Spa where we bought a luxury shampoo as well as shampoos that we had in the hotel room. All staff members were very kind and helpful. We can highly recommend Clivedon House and we are looking forward to staying there again in the near future. The Clivedon Butler Pantry is a very good idea and much more stylish and better than an ordinary mini bar in the room and very special.
