Amangiri
4.5/543 Reviews
The Amangiri offers an experience that’s incomparable. The location and the facilities are phenomenal. Everything from the design of the place to the surrounding environment create a place that immerse you in an isolated and enchanting setting. The only thing that dampened this feeling was the presence of children. A part of the resort at least should be for adults only. Despite the uniqueness of the place there’s a few flaws that should be addressed to make it better. The food is honest but the wine selection is seriously lacking. It’s inexplicable that an establishment of this caliber doesn’t have a resident sommelier. A qualified barista could also improve the morning experience. The service also feels a bit “green”. All the staff is very polite and helpful especially at the front desk and hospitality however the service crew doesn’t quite have the level expected for an establishment of this level. When we asked for afternoon tea the staff was mystified by the concept although it was something we had requested beforehand. Notwithstanding these issues, the stay was overall a unique immersive experience that’s worthy of the trip to this remote place.

Downtown Salt Lake City
Everything from check-in too leaving couldn’t have been better. Our room was an Executive View Twin Bed Suite on the 20th floor (no.2095) with balcony and an amazing view, very spacious with wonderfully comfy beds. The breakfasts are exceptional and the restaurant food also. Not forgetting the staff who were all very courteous, helpful and friendly. Would not hesitate to book The Grand America again

Canyons
Located in the Canyon Village area this HGVC property is close to many amenities located in the area. It’s a close walk to the Gondola and many shops and restaurants. The property is well taken care of and there’s always help available at your service. The free shuttle is prompt and reliable, taking you to Main Street or Kimball Junction. The pool is nice and towels are provided. The concierge was helpful with suggestions for viewing local attractions. Maintenance was hit and miss. Our room was missing a tv remote, which was promptly provided, but the ice machine and refrigerator quit working properly, and when I reported to the front desk, nothing was done. That meant three days of getting ice from the first floor and moving refrigerator food items to the freezer in order to stay cool. Another thing is make sure you request a room with air conditioning. I had requested, but upon checking in, they tried to pass off a room with no air. The temperatures were high 80’s. I visited with other guests that were disappointed in getting rooms with no air. So if you’re visiting in warm weather, I’d check ahead of time on the air conditioning situation. A plus was the parking. We never had a problem finding a spot on the underground parking. There’s also the option of valet. Overall this is a good option of a property to stay. We are owners at another HGVC and wanted to try a new property. We’d come back here.
Under Canvas Zion
4.5/541 Reviews
Having stayed at Under Canvas Bryce Canyon we had a pretty good idea of what to expect. The views at UC Zion are lovely but the location is quite treeless and open compared to Bryce. It is also about 40 minutes to the park entrance and the drive each day got to be a bit tedious. We stayed in a Stargazer tent and it was spacious with a wood burning stove that due to fire hazards we were unable to use - fortunately we didn't need to since the night time temps were cool but not cold. We had some cell reception but there is no electricity for charging beyond the small phone charger they supply. Fortunately we had our solar generator which saved the day for our larger devices. The food was good but very similar to UC Bryce so if you stay at both locations the menu gets a bit repetitive. Overall, it's a fun experience but I'm not sure we'd do it again. It's a bit pricey for what it is and you really do need to hit the weather in a sweet spot, neither too cold nor too hot.
