4-Star Hotels in Canterbury, New Zealand

The hotel is very close to the airport, making it extremely convenient for transit travelers. The room was clean and spacious. During my two-night stay on different dates, I noticed a difference in amenities. The room had night slippers on the first night, but they were missing on the second night. I hope this can be improved to ensure that all necessary items are consistently provided in every room

Location is excellent, its right next to the intercity bus stop.  The common area is tidy and beautiful. We can see the lake right from the windows

The hotel is nicely situated near the airport so that is a plus point. We stayed for 3 nights, which allowed us to visit downtown quite easily via bus and do the car rental at the airport. Security is good and staff were excellent. It's near woolworth supermarket as well as eateries so that is a plus plus point.

It’s a small cozy clean located at the heart of Christchurch city . It’s also very near to the local ****** 7 minutes walk from my hotel location .

I recently stayed at Haka House Mount Cook and overall, it was a good experience. The location is good with easy access to nearby attractions. The staff were friendly and accommodating, helped me solve a double payment issue. However, the noise insulation could be improved. It was easy to hear sounds from outside, which was a bit disruptive at times. Despite this, the comfort and atmosphere made up for it. If you're planning a visit, consider bringing earplugs for a more restful sleep.

I stayed in a women-only dormitory. The location is good, close to the botanical gardens and the bus stop. In the room, there are luggage storage spaces under the bed and by the window. Both can be locked, but you will need to bring your own lock. The bathroom and toilet in the room were clean, and provided shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. There was a hairdryer, too! The kitchen wasn't big, but seemed to be well-equipped. There was a microwave, toaster, and fridge. The reception staff were friendly!

Although the sparrow is small, it has everything! The kitchen has all the cooking utensils and a dishwasher. There is also a washing machine and dryer in the bathroom, very convenient! The hotel is right in the city center, surrounded by tourist attractions! Highly recommended!

We are on the road trip in New Zealand for 6 days now, this is by far the best hotel I’ve been. We like it so very much! The location is very close to the botanical garden, lots of restaurants nearby, very centralized. The hotel itself is very pretty with English garden all around the property, you can see the very well maintained flowers from every direction, it’s surreal, so so pretty, you have to come to enjoy this lovely view, the pictures can’t do the justice. The front desk ladies are very friendly and helpful, I changed 16 dollars to coins to do laundry. Our room is very quiet and super clean and close to the guess laundry room. The dinner was fantastic and breakfast was served with oatmeal! After 6 breakfast from different hotels with similar English breakfast dishes, I was surprised by the oatmeal served in this place. Best dinner in town, my husband was very impressed by the service, the ambiance and atmosphere. We have been 20 countries, trust me, this is one of the best hotel I’ve been in New Zealand and the world! It’s a pleasure and privilege to stay in such great hotel for one night!!

In Mount Cook National Park, it is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, so you must bring food and cook your own meals. There are instant noodles for sale at the front desk, and the kitchen utensils are complete. If you want to save time to hike or take a helicopter, you can consider staying here.

A special thanks to Daniel for surprising us with an upgrade to a higher floor with a balcony view when he found out we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary—it was such a thoughtful gesture! The location is fantastic, with restaurants, cafes, and supermarkets just a short walk away. Plus, the tram stop right across the street made getting around super convenient. I was thoroughly impressed with the level of service throughout our stay.

loved staying here even for just 1 night. very near to sights in the city, staff was pleasant and room ammenities were great we asked for slippers and toothbrushes which are available all you need do is call and they bring it right up. parking is also available just beside the hotel but with a FEE per day😞 other than that we had a lovely stay🙂

The front desk staff were pleasant and efficient. The breakfast staff were also pleasant and efficient. The hotel was clean and beautifully appointed. My room was 1415 and this gave me an amazing outlook over the city ( new stadium, band rotunda and to the mountains covered in snow). Well done. Also most convenient to attend an evening performance at the Isaac Theatre. Thank you

Pros: Everything was clean. There was ample heating. Relatively near the main tekapo area (1 min drive). House was spacious. Cons: The wifi password was handwritten badly and it was a guessing game to get the password. Also uncontactable via email. No barricade around the house and there’s other houses right next door. People could walk by your room / house windows and peer in. Which was what happened to me twice. Zero privacy unless curtains are fully drawn.

The location is good, about 7 minutes' walk from the center of the town. The room has ample heating equipments, so you can have a warm sleep even in the coldest winter days. However, the sound insulation condition is bad and will interact with the guests on the other side of a thin wooden door. The most difficult thing to understand is the area is less than 40 square meters, but the introduction says 80 square meters. The room was large and clean. There was a sofa bed in the living room that could accommodate five or six people. We caught fish at the salmon factory and cooked them in the kitchen at night. It was delicious.

Check in by yourself, the boss is Chinese, you can communicate in Chinese, the location is very quiet and not noisy But the bed was soft, especially on the side, it collapsed, and the roof often made noises. The room was affixed to the sound of wood heat and cold. I thought it was an animal fighting on the roof.

We are couple with a 5 year old girl. We paid SGD697.85 (Singapore dollar) for staying 2 nights in this “2 bedroom apartment” as stated. 3 points here to explain the terrible experience. 1. tv remote is not working. I don’t mind the owner making excuse like “ replied customer’s message within 20mins…..” but they actually took 29mins to reply (19:10 till 19:39). In fact, they didn’t manage to change the tv remote in the end. So I stayed 2 nights without using the TV! 2.there is no clear and obvious description that this “2 bedroom apartment” is actually an adjoining unit which means when u walked into the front door then there are 2 doors link to split parts of the apartment. The problem of adjoining units are thin walls are used to split the apartment into 2 small units. When u stay in this kind of apartment, u have to endure all kind of noises from whoever staying in neighboring rooms. We had 2 days enduring guesting from the other room shouting, slamming the door, kids screaming like crazy both early in the morning and afternoon! 3. When I reflect this bad experience with trip.com customer service, this hotel responded like they have no fault at all and played with words. This attitude makes us feel like being fooled. We paid money to expect to stay in an apartment with privacy and quiet environment but indeed we had such a bad experience! In this market, if it’s an adjoining unit, they should not charge at the rate as if it’s an entire apartment. I’m alright that they rejected to refund the extra amount they charged. Just have to reflect the facts in the review. Thanks.

The house itself is very complete and new, but far from the lake, there is no lake view, and unfortunately, the day we went, it happened to catch up with the power outage in the town, there were no candles, and the emergency measures without lighting were a bit unacceptable!
