The Moken Eco Village
4.7/512 Reviews
Definitely a place to enjoy the simple life. The huts here are new and offer big verandahs and large, simply furnished bedrooms, fully protected from insects by netting screens. We had two solar-powered electric fans. Situated on a part of the big crescent-shaped beach perfect for swimming, the sun loungers are very comfortable, and it is easy to take one of the free kayaks across to the nearby islands. Walking along the almost deserted beach in both directions was a lovely way to see the island and get some exercise. The food was very good and offered great variety. There was a big range of fruit for breakfast and toast cooked over a brazier, as well as the usual range of eggs and Thai options. A high point of our stay was the fishing trip, the snorkelling tour we booked having been cancelled due to rough seas. It was a lovely adventure skimming through the waves in the longtail boat. We ended up catching a lot of fish (with help of course) and in the evening we had some of it made into delicious tom sam soup and also a red snapper we caught with chips. You couldn't have had fresher fish. The staff without exception were lovely and helfpful at all times.
