SpringHill Suites Prince Frederick

Clean, modern hotel in a quiet location just far enough from the main road to avoid road noise. Our room was equipped with a refrigerator and microwave. Staff paid attention to the special requests we made in our reservation. Great check in experience with Sarah. Nice breakfast graciously hosted by the friendly ”Ms. Maddie” who couldn't do enough for us. Wish they'd had a waffle machine though. Comfortable hot tub in the pool area. Nice meeting rooms. We'll definitely be returning.

-Our room wasn’t ready until a couple hours after the checkin time, so we couldn’t comfortably shower and change before going out for dinner. Also had to wait a while in a sweltering lobby before discovering this. We were asked which floor we wanted and when we came back a couple hours after first checking in were informed it’d still be 15 minutes for a room on that floor, so we took one on the first floor next to the outdoor pool and fitness center. -We got a breakfast voucher for our wait. The next morning we showed up to the breakfast buffet 45 minutes before it was supposed to end, but we were told they were shutting down because they “didn’t have a cook”. We mentioned we had a voucher for that morning so they let us have some of what was left, it wasn’t much, and they quickly whipped up some eggs that were horrible. I don’t know what was wrong with them but one taste and I was disgusted…my wife tried them and thought the same. So our free breakfast was ruined. -Only one of the two pools was available, and it was of course filled with rowdy kids/families. -Parts of the hotel looked and seemed dated, you can tell there was some infrastructure issues (their other pool was closed due to a huge crack on the bottom; our room’s shower had a large, and long, crack in the tiling; their pool door didn’t work so you had to walk all the way around the hotel to get in/out of the pool area). -The bed was very firm. I don’t mind personally but my wife’s back hurt the next morning, and I was dealing with a back issue myself and the bed didn’t help. The blankets were also scratchy. Giving how expensive it was per night (nearly $300 after tax), these things are borderline unacceptable. For the positives, the staff was friendly and accommodating as possible, the room could be properly set to a cool temperature unlike a lot of hotels, their pillows were comfortable, it seemed clean, the room was pretty decent and modern, they had a nice business center/lobby for lounging and with a snack/drink area, and there was ample parking.
