Botlierskop Private Game Reserve

Didn't have a lot of time so wanted a day safari game drive. Surprised to see a coach load of people arrive st the same time as us but te park easily coped with the influx. Comfortable open jeep with three rows of three seats driven by our guide Alex who was cheerful funny and knowledgeable. Elephants eluded us and everyone else that day but got great views of cheetah, lions, rhino, buffalo, wildebeest, impala, eland, waterbuck, zebra and giraffe. Park area large and varied, wouldn't have realised that so many others were also in the grounds. Followed by an optional meal in the restaurant. Ideal for those without the time for a one or two night safari stay. Only half an hour from Mossel bay.

Beautiful spot overlooking Wilderness beach, with direct access via a few steps. Room good size and spotlessly clean. Very short drive into Wilderness or 15 min stroll down the beach. Whilst breakfast isn’t offered, juices/water replaced each day - and plenty of choice locally and/or grab a pastry and enjoy the peace and quiet of the beach. Garden and pool area is stunning - Ken and Belinda are fabulous hosts - there if you need anything, but in the background if you don’t as they live there themselves. We loved it and will return. Thank you for having us! Just feels home from home, and the complimentary port to enjoy in the evenings was a lovely touch.
88 Baron van Reede Guesthouse

In our 4 week touring holiday of SA we have not had such a lovely welcome to a guest house as we did here. You really felt that you had arrived home and being greeted by long lost friends. We booked this purely by accident after trying to get in La Plume for 3 nights and them only being able to do 2. As it was our first trip to SA we were trying to get the hotels/guest houses with a restaurant for an evening meal so as we did not have to go out in the evening or drive anywhere. We were shown around the lovely property and to our room, for unfortunately only one night! And the daughter of the owners explained everything to us including giving us all the information for the area which was great and saved us having to hunt out the tourist information centre in town. The room was spotless clean, comfortable bed, decent shower, had a mini fridge stocked with lots of different beers, wine and soft drinks (not free, an honesty bar)! The house itself is such a lovely property and so nice to have breakfast in the dining room, all beautifully laid out. The owners were always present and chatting to their guests, calling them by their first names and I am ashamed to say I can not remember theirs, I have always been terrible with names, but I will remember their faces and their welcome for a very long time to come. There are 2 really good restaurants within a short and sale walking distance, we ate at Nostalgie which was good and very quirky but Jemmimas also looked very good and of course I believe their were other restaurants in town. Would highly recommend if you want the feeling of staying with family and friends. Lovely swimming pool area also and ideal base for doing all the things in this area.

The hotel on one side is in a very quiet place, on the other side to the center it is necessary to go 20 minutes. I didn't confuse the cemetery on the way, well confused people who gathered along the path at the fire. Well done. Apparently this is the trouble of the whole region-the electricity was shut down from morning to evening. Given that it could be either a diesel generator to start or candles to put in.
Garden Route Game Lodge

The Garden Route Game Lodge is perfectly located on the Garden Route and the whole accomodation is absolutely fantastic! We booked the 3 Nights getaway and it was a perfect choice. Our suite was very spacious and offered an amazing view from our balcony. The whole staff was so friendly and the overall experience couldn‘t have been better. The safaris take place in the early morning and in the afternoon and you definitely see a lot of animals. Surfing out stay we also had some specials like a spa treatment and a private picnic. We can highly recommend this lodge!
Protea Hotel by Marriott Mossel Bay

great hotel in Mossel bay! We didn't realize Mossel Bay was a busy commercial port, but the hotel delivered: a nice room, comfortable bed, plenty of room and a nice sitting area complete with small kitchenette! We had a nice view of the harbor and were welcomed and shown to our room with kind hospitality. The property is nice and we ended up eating in the restaurant adjacent for dinner: Cafe Gannet. It was was packed, and we know why--terrific food and service! Although Mossel Bay itself was somewhat disappointing for us as part of the ”Garden Route”, the hotel was terrific.
