Crandell Mountain Lodge

Had a nice one-night stay while traveling through the area. While the lodge is not very close to the downtown area of Waterton, the town is not that big and it is worth the short walk to where the shopping and dining are located. I had a room upstairs and it was a roomy space, but don't expect a TV. This was actually a happy surprise for me as I wanted to be outdoors and not cooped up in a room with a TV going. It's an older hotel, so the walls are not very soundproof. For the most part that was not an issue, but the room next door was filled with small kids who did not have a TV to distract them...so running and screaming ensued.

We returned last week from a 6 night stay at this hotel. We requested a large room with balcony and easy access to parking, since we are in our 80s. We also requested air conditioning, which not all of their rooms have. Kudos to Lily for helping us choose the perfect room for us. Our room was modern and spatious, with a kitchenette with microwave, stovetop, coffeemaker, and refrigerator. The large bathroom had loads of counter space and an extra large stall shower. There was a small table with two chairs for enjoying breakfasts in our room. Location of the hotel was also ideal for us. We were surrounded by mountains and beautiful scenery - away from the noise and traffic in the heart of the city, although only a few minutes away from the fantastic restaurants in Banff. As others have mentioned, this hotel provides bus passes for travel to the downtown area, with bus stops virtually at the hotel doorstep, which we used daily. It only took a few minutes on the bus to get into the heart of the city, which is so much easier than driving through Banff and trying to find convenient parking. Highly recommended!!

Jasper's hotels are estimated to be similar. There are no elevators on 2 floors, the rooms are not very large, and the facilities are relatively simple. Although they are good, they have capsule coffee machines. Just to rest for a night, you can still. The heater is very powerful and warm up, but the sound is quite loud. The main restaurants are all on the same street, just a few minutes drive from the hotel. The best business is a beer factory, which is more cost-effective. I went to Pyramid Lake early in the morning on the second day. There were not many people and the scenery was good, but I didn't feel too amazing.

Good location in town center. The stuff were nice. Room was clean, just a bit moist old smell.

Spent one night here during a road trip across Canada. Accommodation was booked by a tour operator and changed from the Crimson at the last minute. Firstly no air conditioning. I honestly cannot remember the last time I stayed at a hotel with no AC. It was over 30 degrees when we stayed here so had to have the window open all night. Our room was next to reception so what with the noise from reception and from the street and the heat, very little sleep. Then at 5:30am a member of staff decided to start using a vacuum cleaner at the top of the stairs outside our open window. Could have been worse though, the ground floor rooms were partly underground so the windows opened literally onto the pathway from the lobby to the car park. The room was shabby, in serious need of refurbishment, dark, dingy and musty. There was a kitchenette which contained a cooker that looked sketchy at best and I certainly wouldn't have used it There is no restaurant in the hotel, they suggest you go next door to their sister hotel for breakfast. There is supposed to be an on-site coffee shop but that was closed. Having viewed the hotel on booking sites, I can only assume the photos were taken 20 years ago because they do not reflect the current state of the hotel. I also assume that the hotel can get away with this poor quality because of the lack of hotel accommodation in Jasper Seriously, 2022 and no AC.

I have booked several nights accomodation for this trip so I can never really remember what I am getting until I arrive, so this was a really nice surpise ! The chap on reception was helpful and informative about things, the cabin was very nice as was the whole area. I had dinner and breakfast at the bistro, the food was nice but service was slow, on both occasions it was almost like the staff were surprised to see you there wanting to order food. Did a nice hike to the waterfalls after the crowds had gone. If I am ever back in this part of the world I would come here again and would recommend it to others.

It is 2km away from the town of Jasper, like a resort. If you choose a standard room, like a guest house. Choosing a cabin is really great. The hut has a hob to cook for yourself, with underfloor heating and a fireplace. But driving in after dark is very dangerous. There is no trace of light + roadside stone. It is very dangerous for self-driving, and my car is scratched.

This was a last minute getaway. The only cabin they had left for 4 of us was the Executive Cabin and we loved it. It had 2 comfortable king beds, each in it's own bedroom upstairs. Check in was great. Arianna happened to be from the same city in Ontario, as my husband. She was very knowledgeable about the resort and the area in general, especially when we asked her about bears. (Unfortunately we didn't see any there). Our cabin was like a little house. Love the log style throughout. It had a livingroom with couch and chair, kitchen with fridge, microwave, small stove and dishwasher. Dinnerware and utensils were also there. A bathroom with sink and toilet downstairs and a shower, toilet and sink upstairs. Ours was a recently renovated cabin. There was also a nice deck at the front and a nice balcony off of our bedroom. The pool area was great and the hottub was hot! We didn't use the campfire or BBQ. One night certainly was not enough! The next night when we got home, my son realized he'd left his BOSE earbuds in his room. I called the front desk, they located it the next day and will be sending it back to us. My son was so relieved! We would definitely return.

Prices are a little high as others have said but if you time your trip right it can be worth it for a little peace and quiet. I would recommend bringing board games and maybe a couple books as there is no TV which is the only thing I regret (this was noted on their website) that I didn't bring. The front desk agents were very polite and helpful :) when we asked if they had board games to rent, she kindly offered to drop some after she went home as she would bring her own games to us. We told her no thanks but we definitely appreciated her efforts to make our stay enjoyable. During COVID times and probably the time of year a few of the amenities that were mentioned (lawn games etc) were not available to rent. Which is understandable. Cabin had everything we need, stove top, pots & pans, cutlery and all. It stayed warm when outside was quite chilly and the bed was comfortable. When it's warmer next time I would love to explore the trails in the area unfortunately it was a little chilly when we went so we weren't in the mood to explore.
