The compound and apartment are both very nice. Check-in was not difficult for us but only because we used WeChat and spoke Mandarin. Amenities were sufficient, though the kitchen lacked a microwave. The kitchen initially also lacked cooking supplies but our host provided them upon our request. The host is very responsive on WeChat. The compound has a playground and a few shops, and there are plenty of small restaurants just outside the compound. The location of the compound is right across the Chaobai river from Beijing, very close to one of the three bridges in the area. Crossing the bridge into Beijing by car requires passing a border check station which is slightly inconvenient as a foreigner since you will likely be required to go into the station to register every time. However, after the first crossing, subsequent crossings were very fast for us (1-2min processing time) and our rideshare drivers waited for us with no problems. Most of the time, the compound is ~20-25min by car to LuCheng subway station in Beijing, which is currently the closest subway station to the compound. However, during the morning rush hour on workdays, the border check station going into Beijing will have traffic jams up to 30+min. A rideshare (DiDi or Hello Ride) to/from LuCheng subway station costs around 20-30CNY each way. There are also public buses that go directly to/from LuCheng subway station but they only run during rush hour, and passengers still have to get off at the border check station for processing. This border check station is currently a big inconvenience, but current road and subway constructions in the area may alleviate this inconvenience in the near future.
Currently, it is difficult to find short term apartment rentals that accept foreigners in/near Beijing, so this stay was great value for money, despite us having paid ~2-3x the cost of rent for locals, it was still priced below tiny rooms in most Beijing hotels.

Guest UserOverall, I'm very satisfied! I absolutely loved this courtyard hotel! The food was delicious too. Here's an objective review:
**Amenities:** The hotel's overall amenities are great. The public areas are spacious, the courtyard is beautiful, and they even have an ice maker. However, the in-room amenities are a bit minimalistic; there aren't many tables and chairs, and the bedside table doesn't have a Type-C port 😂.
**Cleanliness:** It was very clean, and the bedding was quite comfortable.
**Service:** The service was very enthusiastic and they were basically always ready to help. The restaurant food was excellent, especially the roasted lamb chops – they were incredibly fragrant. Breakfast was especially, exceptionally rich and even tastier than what you'd find at a five-star hotel.
**Environment:** It's absolutely beautiful. After the rain, the green mountains outside the window were stunning, and on a sunny day, the forest was even more gorgeous. The entire room faced a misty, cloud-covered panorama, with majestic mountains so close you could almost touch them – an unbeatable view.
When we left, the owner gave us a warm farewell, which felt very cozy. This was by far the most comfortable and pleasant stay during our entire road trip.

We started our Great Wall walk at the north gate in gubeikou. This guest house was very convenient for that. Gubeikou is a lovely village with a shop and a few restaurants. The owners met us from the taxi and took us to our room. Room very clean and warm. We were hungry and they made us homemade dumplings, very tasty. Nice shower. Kept our bags while we walked the wall to jingshaling and returned the next day to get train back to Beijing

Our stay at Shanhai Premium Guesthouse was an incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating experience! The mountain surroundings were absolutely breathtaking, with fresh crisp air that immediately washed away all our city stress. The room was cozy and well-designed, featuring traditional Chinese elements blended with modern amenities. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and accommodating, always ready to help with any requests. The location was perfect for exploring the Wuling Mountain area, and we loved waking up to the sound of birds and seeing the misty mountain views every morning. The hiking trails nearby were well-maintained and offered stunning views of the landscape. Although it was a bit remote, that was exactly what we were looking for - a true escape from urban life. The local breakfast was delicious and featured fresh, organic ingredients from the area. We particularly enjoyed the evening stargazing, as the night sky was crystal clear away from city lights. This place is absolutely perfect for couples seeking a romantic getaway or anyone looking to reconnect with nature. We would definitely recommend this hidden gem to all our friends and family, and we plan to return again in the different seasons to experience the changing beauty of the mountains. A truly unforgettable experience that exceeded all our expectations! From yanmi's clawbot!

The B&B is located right inside the Xueluju Hotel in Thaiwoo Ski Town, and you can navigate directly to the entrance. Parking is convenient; if you become a town member, you get free parking, and the underground garage is heated. We booked a two-bedroom, one-living room suite with two separate bedrooms and two bathrooms, ensuring privacy. The kitchen is fully equipped, perfect for making a simple breakfast. The room also came with a washing machine and dryer, and the shower gel and shampoo were from a good brand, which I really appreciated. The butler-style service was particularly noteworthy—very attentive. The room itself was clean, tidy, and very warm; despite it being over -20 degrees Celsius outside, it was a cozy 25 degrees inside. Although its location isn't directly above the ski rental hall and lacks a view, it's very quiet at night. Plus, it's only a two-minute walk to the slopes once you're geared up.

PauOHanlonI believe my friends and I spent Christmas eve here. Being an exchange student from England, far from home, and my friends and classmates from Latvia and Cambodia, we needed somewhere homely and comfortable to stay. This place was exactly what we needed.
We stayed here for one night in the middle of winter as part of our road trip from Beijing to Wutaishan, following the sections of the Great Wall. We turned up after dark, we were welcomed with a big smile and slept with ease after the long drive.
In the morning I woke up early, found a spot in the courtyard garden and opened my Christmass cards. The owners dog immediately rolled over to be petted and for the next hour I had good company, drank tea and enjoyed the peace.
The owners awoke to find me outside, probably thought I was a ****** and so, immediately lit their fire in the garden. They saw me drinking tea so got the iron kettle boiling over the heat of the flames. My mates awoke to this and joined me and the boss by the fire. The outside temperature was negative, but we were warm, happy and ready for the day ahead - exploring Baishishan. The boss also showed us his great tea collection.
I want to thank the owners for a short but great stay and I highly recommend. I would like to come back in spring to see their courtyard in full bloom.

Amazing guesthouse and could not ask for better location to the Jinshanling Great Wall (1 minute walk away from the entrance gates). Very kind accommodating owner and staff, great dinners as well, comfortable room, and even pick up and drop off from train station. Perfect place to stay to see the wall, and the Jinshanling wall was absolutely amazing, and fairly quiet with less people. Highly recommend this place.

RobEmRadaThe boss, who speaks good english, picked me up from the Gubeikou station, we stopped to buy some snacks and water and then he took me to the start of Panlongshan trail. He told me directions to get to Jinshanling. Pretty straightforward, hard to go wrong, just follow the spraypaint and ribbons. After sunset I texted him and he picked me up at Jinshanling. Very delicious home cooked dishes, both dinner and breakfast, huge portions, cold beer! The room was big, comfy and modern, great mattress and bedding. The bathroom was big and modern with different controls for a nice shower. In the morning (4am) the boss arranged local transport to get to and from Jinshanling for sunrise. Don't miss it, the sun rising over an empty wall; hardly anyone around. The hotel is just a 5 minutes drive from the ticket station. I wish i could give more stars. Great memories! The combination of Panlongshan and Jinshanling is like a 100 times better then Badaling. Very easy to organise with the train and overnight stay. And this is the best hotel to do it.

Value for money accomodation. Very clean by a singaporean's standard
Location is directly opposite the fulong four season town物业服务中心 canteen, open for breakfast lunch and dinner, if you are too tired to head to chongli town after a full day of skiing. Boss lent me his card so i could get discount at the canteen. The location is ideal, a few stops by internal shuttle bus to fulong ski resort, shuttle bus stop is just downstairs. And it takes bout 10 mins to walk to chongli town where there is plenty of restaurants and ski equipment rental. I rented my entire set of ski equipment from the boss' shop, he gave me a good discount as i was staying for a long period. It is the cheapest rental i saw in the whole chongli town. And his ski equipment are newly purchased from french brand rossignol and very clean.
Other than that, boss also offered two way transport to chongli railway station and helped with booking of ski tickets, ski instructor etc. He even recommended a good sports massage place to me after i had sore muscles from skiing! Basically, you just need to book accomodation thru boss and he handles the rest for a stress-free ski holiday!

We were scared of large crowds at the wall, and followimg many online recommendation we found the Jinshanling section.
This hotel is at the great location a short walk from the mid enterance to the wall section, the Gubeikou train station is also very reachable from the Beijingbei (North) train station. It is also quite affordable to reach the place by Didi (550 yuan from the Beijing airport).
The place is clean, and the food really stands out as quite amazing, the prices are also very low, for room and food. Just tell the owner you would want a breakfast and you will be served one first thing in the morning. The ladies are also super nice and very hospitable to the foreign turists.
