Everything is top-notch. The rooms are new and everything is in excellent condition. The staff is very friendly. The only issue that might be annoying for a visitor is that the room is very noisy, meaning you can hear very clearly if your neighbor is watching TV or having a conversation, for example. This can be annoying under certain circumstances. But apart from that, everything is actually perfectly fine. There's a market in front of the hotel every day from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. – it's worth being aware of that. This means that between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m., no cars can drive or park there, and everything is closed off. Fortunately, there's a large parking garage right next to the hotel where you can park your car 24/7. It's secure and the parking garage costs €12 per night (as of July 2025). Conclusion: If you're looking for a solid, minimalist, and simple hotel room in a good location and at a fair price, this is the place for you.👍

Not a hotel, more like a Bnb with limited service

We booked Mia Terra expecting a hotel — but it turned out to be more of a one-man bed and breakfast. From the start, nothing went smoothly. We had decided to take up the host’s offer of an airport shuttle (not cheap), as one of us only had one evening in Palermo and every minute counted. The shuttle arrived 15 minutes late, and when we finally reached the property, no one was there to check us in, causing yet another delay — even though the host had personally arranged our transport and knew our arrival time. The host then offered excuses that didn’t line up with the shuttle driver’s story (which btw, the driver didn’t even know our destination — we had to guide him — and only accepted cash, which we weren’t told in advance.)
Check-in was confusing and disorganized. Despite several text messages from the host to confirm our room setup (which should have been clear from the booking), he had still assigned the wrong rooms and once again found excuses, incorrectly blaming the booking platform. When we asked him to fix it, he was reluctant but eventually agreed — behaving as if he were doing us a favor — though he did offer free breakfast as compensation, which we didn’t need.
Since there is no staff at the property. The host promised to respond to messages “within minutes,” yet replies often took hours. The whole experience felt like a single person trying to run a hotel alone — and it shows.
To be fair, the rooms were clean and comfortable, although in one of them, the shower faced the bedroom through a glass wall, so you had to shower in the dark for privacy.
Overall, the service and professionalism fell far short of hotel standards. If you’re expecting the reliability of an actual hotel, look elsewhere.

Something fabulous. Bungalows right on the beach. A wonderful sunrise. Beautiful view of Etna. Clean tidy. A very nice employee - a great person. The breakfast was modest but the coffee was delicious. 12 minutes to the airport. Open 24 hours. I am very satisfied. This place probably benefits in the summer, during the season. Nice infrastructure. Cottages in a wooded area, sandy beach, parking, 24-hour service. Just go there.

Excellent Stay with Great Location and Stunning Views
I recently stayed at this hotel and had a wonderful experience. The location is fantastic—just a 16-minute walk from the train station and about 15-20 minutes on foot to the island’s main attractions.
The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and very clean, with the added bonus of being close to the sea. It even had two balconies, allowing us to enjoy the lovely views and fresh air.
What made our stay even better was the friendly and helpful staff. They were always welcoming and went out of their way to assist us whenever needed.
Here’s an updated version of your review that includes the negative aspects while maintaining a balanced and professional tone:

**Great Location & Beautiful Room, but Noise Can Be an Issue**
I had a mostly pleasant stay at this hotel. The location is excellent—just a **16-minute walk from the train station** and **15-20 minutes to the island’s main attractions**.
The room itself was **spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated**, with the added benefit of being **close to the sea** and featuring **two balconies**. The staff were also **very friendly and helpful**, which enhanced our experience.
However, there was one major downside: the walls are extremely thin. We could easily hear noises from the hallway and stairwell. On our last night, the neigh-boring room was very loud, which disrupted our sleep and unfortunately put a damper on an otherwise great trip.

I am having a hard time writing this review as we actually enjoyed our stay at La chiusa, location, staff and food was good. However, I suffered a severe bug bite attack at night and the management of the hotel is turning all responsibility away from them. My whole body, face, legs, arms, neck are full with red marks from the bites, the itch is unbearable! I kindly asked for a statement and refund for the situation but at first I got “it looks like mosquito bites” and then they kept explaining their cleaning procedures and gave us the responsibility for the situation that we would have brought them with us. Also they did not see any reason to pay any compensation for the situation. Nothings for time spent at doctors, creams or refund for the room. NOTHING. Just the situation for us to deal with the itchy bites.
I am 100% sure that the bugs have been there before we came, I even saw one before going to sleep (not knowing it is a bed bug) thinking that it is a remote location and it can happen that a bug enters the room. When checking the next morning for the bites I realized that it was a bed bug what I have seen and the marks over my body show enough evidence.

We picked Antico Borgo Etneo for a weekend getaway with friends – me and my Italian partner, two Chinese friends, and their 5-year-old daughter. We arrived with no big expectations and left with a promise to come back.
The place has that authentic charm that makes you feel at home right away, nestled among citrus groves and vineyards with a stunning view of Mount Etna. The rooms are simple but cozy, clean, and with that rustic vibe that really works.
Breakfast was a pleasant surprise: homemade cakes, jams made from local fruit, and freshly squeezed juices – a perfect energy boost to start the day. The little one had a blast running around the garden, and we adults enjoyed some much-needed relaxation under the trees.
The location is great for exploring the area: Taormina, the Alcantara Gorges, and the beaches are all just a short drive away.
In short: no over-the-top luxury, but genuine hospitality and an atmosphere that makes you slow down and enjoy every moment. Perfect for those who want authenticity without the frills.
We’ll definitely be back – maybe in summer to make the most of the outdoor spaces.

THIS WAS THE BEST CHOICE I DID IN SICILY.
First, this is the cleanest place I saw in my trip. They ask you every morning if you want a cleaning when they bring you breakfast. The bathroom/shower room is modern and same as the picture. The body soap, shampoo, conditioner was a Sicily one that was very nice of them. The public space was so good, they had balcony so it would be great to take pictures for instagram.
Secondly, the breakfast. Insanely great. You can choose 2 things from about 15 types of dishes such as sandwiches or yogurt or fruits. For drink you can pick 1 from about 15 types such as cappuccino or hot chocolate. They have milk choices like oat milk and almond milk that is amazing in this price. For spread, you can choose 2 from about 10 types such as honey or Nutella or almond butter or many flavors of jam. For a dessert, you can choose a cake from 2 or 3 types they have that day. You can choose where you want to eat room or public space.
Thirdly, the staffs were a lot more kind and friendly then the average of sicily.
Nice place absolutely recommend!!

We had a 2-week family vacation in Italy, travelled to Rome, Florence, Naples and Palermo. Our stay at Olivuzza 27 in Palermo is by far the BEST! The room is spacious, well-appointed, clean. And, it has a kitchenette, so that we could cook dinner with the fresh ingredients bought from the supermarket nearby. The apartment is just a stone’s throw away from the town centre, we could go to different places just on foot. And it is located in a quiet and safe area. We didn’t have to worry even we walked back to the apartment after a night out.
Our heartfelt thanks to the owner Salvo for his hospitality, who proactively offered us help in many ways. Salvo is friendly and caring. He speaks very good English too. He gave us very good recommendations for restaurants, attractions, useful apps. He helped us with laundry service after we were totally soaked in the pouring rain in one of the days. Each of the small touch have made us feel very welcomed. We had a very memorable trip in Palermo. If you happen to travel to Palermo, Olivuzza 27 is the PERFECT choice, trust me.

Claire MWe chose Hybla Major B&B because it was very affordable, at an excellent location, and the ratings were super! And everything was true!!! Gabriele, the owner, got in contact with us before to explain the check-in process. Everything went smooth and we easily checked into our room #2 at Hybla Major three nights ago. The room was simple yet immaculately clean as was the bathroom. Towels were provided and they smelled good (that's a maybe tiny thing to add but it's important to me). We didn't book the breakfast (we wanted to be free and hungry enough to eat whatever we see ”out there” 😂) but we saw the buffet that was waiting for the breakfast-ers earlier in the morning and it looked very good ... 🥐 ☕
Unfortunately, I completely forgot to take pictures of this cute little place, but I will do next time when we go there again. Because: Avola is such a lovely little Sicilian town that we go back and visit again and we'll stay at Hybla Major for sure - that should be convincing enough! 😉
Anyways, I will add a few pictures of Avola, so you know how beautiful it is!
