Samesun Banff Hostel

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in, everything ran so smoothly and felt very well managed. I was really comfortable and the staff were happy to go the extra length to help out with that too. Kitchen system was also really great, despite business it was accommodating to everyone. Chilled atmosphere and so great for solo travelling
The Dorothy Motel

This motel was great and affordable. It is only 15 mins walk to Banff downtown. There is a Gas station and A&W in front. Which is great! One morning we bought breakfast there and ate in our rooms. Our room itself was pretty clean. It seems like they newly renovated it. So it look pretty new. I love how they were lights underneath the beds. And the lights could be dim. The check in was superb, it was all done in the app. So no need to check in or check out in person. I would stay at this motel again. It was such a great experience ! Oh also if you have rooms on the first floor you can easily park your car in front of your room which we loved. Lastly, whatever you see on the pictures is what the rooms actually look like in real life.

profoundly disappointment and frustrated regarding our recent stay at the Ramada Limited Calgary. Unfortunately, our experience was so disheartening and distressing that we have made the difficult decision that we will never again choose to stay at a Ramada hotel. The conditions we encountered at Ramada Limited Calgary were simply unacceptable and fell far below the basic expectations one has when staying at any lodging establishment. The state of the guest rooms, bathrooms, and the overall property cleanliness was deplorable and posed serious health and safety concerns. Given the extent of the issues we encountered, we were unable to utilize the amenities offered by the property, including the absence of a suitable breakfast room. This lack of basic services only added to the overall disappointment of our stay. We had hoped for a comfortable and enjoyable experience, but our time at Ramada Limited Calgary was anything but. The experience has left us with a deeply negative impression and a firm decision to seek accommodations elsewhere in the future.
The Georgetown Inn
4.5/5105 Reviews
On arriving at the Georgetown Inn we were greeted as long lost favourite relatives. After checking in, went for super in their lounge where we enjoyed a wonderful dinner with excellent service. Their staff is friendly and knowledgeable as to the history of Canmore and what is going on it town. We experienced a two hour flat surface hike through Policeman's Creek area and were amazed at what they have done and continue to do in that area. All the meals we had at the Inn were delicious, served promptly and what was to be hot was served hot even though they were very busy. My favourites for breakfast were the Traditional Avocado Toast and their French Toasts (Famous Orange and Strawberry Delight). For dinner, the Chicken Masala was full of flavour, a little spicey for me but still delicious. Stuffed Yorkshire Pudding was another treat. We love the ambience throughout the Inn and can hardly wait to return... Our rooms were huge, had a great fire place for warming up the room during a winter visit but we still had to turn it on for a few minutes. Beds were very comfortable. We slept undisturbed...was it that we were exhausted from our long walks or the other guests were as tired as we were and also went to bed early.. Only stayed 2 nights at the Georgetown Inn...big mistake....should have booked for a longer stay...too much to see in 3 days. Wholeheartedly recommend the Georgetown Inn. Party Hostel- Canmore Hotel Hostel

Perfect location as slap bang in the middle of the main street and has everything available around it to you, close to bus stops, shops, restaurants and trails. A self service hostal so can't comment on service as you serve yourself. Kitchen available but can be cramps due to other people in the hostel using it and limited cooking room if someone else is using it. Would use again
HI Banff Alpine Centre - Hostel

I stayed at the HI Banff for just 2 nights, and got to experience 2 different ‘types’ of private rooms. I had initially booked online for a 4-6 female dorm (there weren’t any private rooms left on the third agent site when I had placed my booking), but when I asked to be switched to private upon arrival, I was fortunately offered the option to stay at a 6-person dorm - all by myself - for the first night, and then move over to a private log cabin for the second. Both were interesting experiences, and the room decor (especially with the electronic hearth in the log cabin) definitely made you feel like you were staying at a quasi-wilderness hostel. It was fun on the whole, despite the slight inconvenience of having to move between the two nights. Both the shared shower room and the private en suite shower/bathroom were clean and well-maintained, with decent water pressure and hot water supply, which are extremely important things to have when you’re visiting Banff in its subarctic state...! I didn’t use the kitchen or patron the hostel’s restaurant (called Cougar Pete’s), so unfortunately can’t comment on those aspects. I will say, however, that the only downside of this hostel would be its relative distance from downtown Banff (i.e. the centre of Banff Avenue where all the shops and restaurants are located) - it takes a good 20-min uphill walk from Banff Avenue up to Tunnel Mountain Rd where the hostel is located, and for any season that isn’t late spring, summer or early fall (okay, so winter is the biggest issue I guess), I don’t think you’d find walking for 20 plus minutes out in -10 degree Celsius conditions quite the idea of a pleasant stroll, especially after dinner when it’s dark and bitterly cold, lol. There’s of course the option to take public transport (the Roam transit bus), with Bus No. 2 stopping at Douglas Fir station (the hotel right next to HI Banff), but bear in mind this is a bus that comes at 25-minute intervals. So, not the most convenient arrangement, and something to be aware of when planning your itinerary. Overall though, I really enjoyed staying at the HI Banff, and found it a rather lovely experience as a first-time visitor to Banff. On a side but related note, I’ve rarely been let down by the HI chain, and I’ve stayed at more than 7 HI hostels by now...

Excellent value for your money. It’s a basic room but very clean and has a fridge and coffee maker. No housekeeping unless you pay extra but I was fine with that.We stayed for 6 nights and if we needed anything we just asked for it at the front desk. There’s a microwave for use in the public area
