The Waterman

Lovely stay at The Waterman. Although there is a pub downstairs we didn’t make use of it as we had other plans. Warm greeting at check in and given keys to our room. Very comfortable room and very quiet. Breakfast the following morning was great, very friendly chatty and speedy service. We left our bags so we could explore Cambridge and picked them up later. Excellent bus service into the city or a 15 minute walk. A lovely relaxing couple of days in a beautiful historic city made all the more enjoyable by the guys at The Waterman. Highly recommended
Three Horseshoes Inn

This little hotel was an absolute find! Set in an archetypal english village, it could have been the setof a Midsomer Murders episode. Only 2 rooms upstairs in what appears to be an Elizabethan pub. The rooms are plenty big enough, clean and the beds comfy. The staff were just fantastic and the breakfast was delish! The floors upstairs are all uneven, but that reflects the buildings age. We would stay again in a heartbeat,
Madingley Hall

The hotel is a very beautiful manor in the suburbs about 10km from Cambridge. There should be cows and sheep on the grassland in summer. I was attracted by other people's beautiful pictures when I made the reservation. After I checked in, I found it was really good, but I had to drive by myself and check in for free. The room was remodeled from the original dormitory, not quite but adequate, no air conditioning, slightly colder, breakfast quality is good, the environment is first-rate, it is recommended

This is a modern and clean hostel ,the staff are friendly ,kind and considerate, and listened patiently to my several and widely varied questions . I found out more from the reception here than the tourist information in Cambridge town centre (which is absolutely useless). The rooms are clean as are the showers and toilets .The food is good but a full breakfast is £9.95 and often you are only permitted 1 slice of bacon ,1 hash brown and 1 sausage which is financially poor value . Wetherspoons in Cambridge has a large breakfast for £7.95 but is a bit of a walk from the hostel. The location is good about 10-15 minutes from the railway station where there are other eating outlets . the self catering kitchen is good and there are kettles there to make your own hot drinks or bring takeaway food in if you wash and clean up afterwards .There is a lounge with books and board games and a tv with all the normal terrestrial channels. Parking in Cambridge is very controlled ,limited and expensive .I parked at the park and ride on Madingley road day return tickets are £3.50 and single tickets are £2.00. The park and ride bus service P+R 1 will only take you to st Andrews street (outside John Lewis) and there you must get another bus or face a 20/25 minute walk. The charge to park is about £10 per 24 hours booked over the phone. Parking near the hostel is on the road and is limited (Devonshire road) it is paid hourly by machine max 2 Hours or free after 5.00pm until 9.00am and free all day Sundays . Devonshire road is accessed by using the ring road and going down mill road (beware of the one way system.)
Lamb Hotel by Greene King Inns

The hotel in the old building of Ely, the location is very convenient. It is really painful to carry the suitcase without an elevator. I moved up and down for a few rounds. The children at home read to visit, and it is very convenient to live here. There are many local elderly people eating in the restaurant downstairs, and the environment is good. The room is old equipment and the door is opened with a key.

Everything about this hotel and its staff is excellent. They accommodated us on short notice and this did not mean they slacked on any details. They bent over backwards to provide us with what we needed and were very helpful and efficient. Beautiful settings and a well looked after hotel. The area is lovely and I would highly recommend.

Amazing place to stay, right next to Jesus College and green and a few minutes walk to shops. Perfect place to stay for Cambridge open days as close to most colleges. Room was clean, spacious with everything we need and we loves having a balcony. Although we were on quite a busy road we didn’t hear any road noise during our sleep 😄 Amazing breakfast, more choice than we were expecting. Buffet arrangement of Yoghurt and fresh fruit, cereals, croissants and then hot fry up choices of bacon, sausage, eggs boiled or poached, beans, mushrooms, hash browns, toast and vegetarian sausages. Nice tea, coffees and juices all help yourself. Lovely dining room overlooking a courtyard. We left our luggage in the storage room so we didn’t have to carry it around. Fantastic stay, we will return! 😃
The Earl of Derby

The rooms are located on the second floor of the bar, the decoration facilities are good, the cleaning is very clean, and the accommodation experience is OK. Although it is a bar, it is not very noisy at night. There will be some sound of vehicles passing by the room on the side of the road, but the impact is not big. The only downside is that there is no special lock-up room, and the cockroach is placed in the corner of the aisle without special care.
