The Guesthouse Kuju No Kura is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. Visitors to Minamioguni will find that the Guesthouse Kuju No Kura is a fantastic accommodation choice. Hikiji Station is located approximately 17km away and Kumamoto Airport around 39km away. This hotel is located near many of Minamioguni's attractions including 黒川いご坂の大杉跡, Kokichino Yu and Morinoyu. In their spare time, guests can explore the hotel's surroundings. According to our guests, this hotel provides a very high level of service.
"Despite our language barrier, the owner loves conversing with people, which is why he decided to open his guesthouse. He even recommended a little path that shows a great sunrise. I was greeted with some deers hopping in the distance at 6.30am. Truly magical and breathtaking. This is THE place for solo travellers. There’s a saying that it’s the people that makes the trip enjoyable and this place is proof. He charges for accommodation cheaply but offers beyond the cost, within his means happily. He loves anime like Attack on Titan and has watched Laputa 21 times. His hobbies include biking, hiking and has hiked Mt Kuju several times, Mt Aso too. He travelled to Vietnam Cambodia and Thailand solo trip too, and wants to do it again 3 years later.
As my first time doing solo travelling, I couldn't be luckier than this to have met this wonderful host. I would say so far, my time spent in Kurokawa Onsen and together with the host is my whole trip’s highlight. I felt very safe and comfortable in this living space and truly enjoyed the nature surrounding it as well. I love the location of the guesthouse because I love walking and hiking. The main area of Kurokawa Onsen is quite a walk itself, so walking to the guesthouse was just extra leisure for me. Just make sure to follow google maps and the various sign boards he’s put up along the way! He offers a ride back and forth at 8.10am and 5pm to the main area anyway and to the supermarket if needed, very generous of him! Make sure to not be shy and chit-chat a lot with him! It was so much fun.
The room was very cozy and with the 6 beds arranged, an extra 100 yen per night for the heater is totally reasonable to me! it felt like I was back to school and enjoyed the cleanliness and casualness of everything. Damn, this place has great interior design too. The lights have motion sensors, pretty cool! He also has his own little beautiful hot spring which you should pay extra if you want to bathe at night. Personally did not find the need after bathing at the town haha.
Thank you for the comfort of home and lovely company!! I hope many people who enjoy company and nature stay here!! Highly recommended for at least 2 nights! The onsens are all very good and beautiful. I want to come again."

Guest UserRoom: decent bunk bed. comes with lockable storage underneath, a shelf, a rack, a hanger, a light and some plug sockets. you have to make the bed yourself, and there is not a privacy curtain. the dorm room doesn't have a door, just curtains which means you can hear noises from other dorms, people chatting in the communal area downstairs, people on the phone on private rooms etc.. Bathroom: a few sinks showers and toilets so you should be able to find an available one. comes with shampoo, conditioner, body wash. since the bunk beds don't have privacy curtains and you therefore need the shower cubicle to get changed, moisturised etc. it would be useful to have a tub/basket in there rather than just hooks. the showers are a bit annoying, they're the type that you have to keep pressing to restart the water flow. this is quite annoying when trying to wash long hair. the temperature can also fluctuate as the water flow changes. the hairdryers are also a bit weak for long hair. Security: pass to get into the hostel. lockable storage space under bed. Amenities: kitchen area with stoves, microwaves, pans etc. laundry machines (400 for wash, 100 for 15min drying). books and area guides. onsen coupon. Location: quick walk to station and convenience store. Other: got to bare in mind the cost, so although there are some criticisms here, it is definitely good value for money

Although it's far from Kumamoto Station, it's conveniently located within walking distance of the nearest tram station. ❗️
The private room was surprisingly spacious, and I was able to store my luggage there.
It looks like I could easily bring a medium-sized carry-on suitcase into the room.
The bathroom was clean and easy to use. ❗️There was a large public bath and a small sauna, so I was able to relax. 😌
There was a women-only floor, so I was able to relax there.
I recommend this hotel for those who just want a place to sleep at a reasonable price.👍 ̖́-

It is a bit similar to the concept of youth hostel, and the public area of the living room provides dining exchanges for everyone. The tatami room needs to be covered by your own quilt. It is best to carry a disposable sleeping bag. There is also a certain distance to drive there. It will be better to go a little earlier.～ The kitten is also very close.

Overall, I am satisfied, but as the review shows, the heating was only on the ２ floor because of the maisonette type, and the １ floor remained very cold. I gave up the air conditioner and used only the small fan heater that I had prepared in the room, but it was warmer than using the air conditioner. (in summer, if the air conditioner is not working, it may be tough without a fan.)
The shower head was more troublesome than the air conditioning, and it was not very easy to use in terms of water quantity. I was a little disgusted during my stay, so I went to a hot spring called Yurakusu nearby.
It may have been inconvenient because it was a long stay, but tableware (paper plate, etc.) is prepared only one sheet a day, so it may not be enough to eat three meals. Also, since the trash can bag was not prepared to be replaced, I used the same trash bag all the time. If you are interested, you may want to buy it separately because there are 100 averages nearby.

Guest UserIt was a wonderful place to wander around and sightsee, as it boasts the largest crowds in Kumamoto and has streets that always feel like a festival. The breakfast was also delicious, so I left feeling full.
