I've stayed there a few nights, and return again & again; even contemplating a long stay. The place is clean; the communal kitchen & lounge area is inviting, the in-house pub & adjoining balcony is cosy and gives the feel of a private party, above the bustle of Long Street below. Communal bathrooms are OK, kept clean. I love the many nooks & turns & corners of the old house and the creaking wooden floors. But the guests are what make the place feel like a home away from home -- an eclectic mix of local & foreign visitors passing through the city. There's a feeling & atmosphere of being in a backpackers in a foreign city, somewhere abroad, making one feel as if one is on holiday, somewhere away from home. I love this place! It's become my accommodation of first choice, for a party night or two in the city.

City Bowl
This hostel meets the best European standards for hostels. It's very clean here. This applies to toilets, rooms and linen. The cabins are comfortable. Very warm (this is very important in South Africa!). Light, charging, storage of things. Excellent Wi-Fi. Nice navigation. The rooms are named by city. The idea is not original, but a win-win. The price includes breakfast. very good. Speaking of price, it's very reasonable. The staff (both Thomas and the other young man) are very friendly. They will help with advice if you contact them. In general, the atmosphere here is warm. Both literally and figuratively.

As a first-timer at a backpackers, Never@Home Kloof Street absolutely blew me away. From the warm welcome tour to the secure storage for my suitcase (so I could explore hands-free), this place really knows how to cater to solo adventurers. The balcony, braai area, and the ever-buzzing bar make sure you’re never short on vibes – even if you’re just popping down for a drink and people-watching. I booked a 4-bed ladies-only dorm with a mountain view and, boy, did they deliver! Imagine stepping into the shower and being greeted by a full-on view of Table Mountain. That’s right – shower views! Each bed has its own lock-up space (bring your own padlocks!) and even a little desk if you’re feeling productive. Seating is a bit scarce outside of your bed, so embrace the lounge life. Can’t wait to come back and “rough it” in style again.
Santos Express

Day 7 of our trip and we had a breakdown 16km from Mossel bay. When arriving at Santos Express we where greeted very friendly, we had so much stuff with us due to breakdown. Staff helped carry all our luggage to our Suite, moment that door opened I was shocked with beauty. It's really an old train room, the wood, the chairs, the decor, all of it... Train was just not moving. The view was amazing, sleeping at night and hearing the sea was a treat. Had supper at the restaurant and loads of drinks. Food and drinks was well priced and delicious. Next morning breakfast was a treat and the staff was friendly and amazing. I can not wait to go visit again, and stay for longer as it's really beautiful. I can be strict and complain that all windows didn't open, or all blinds don't go down but this is an old train and to still have all look so beautiful. I will again book a suit as it's very specious, with own toilet, bath and shower. We slept well, bed and cushions was comfortable, extra blanket which we used during the night when wind picked up but I didn't want to close the window and hear the sea all night. Highly recommend Santo Express Train

Thanks to Melissa’s knowledge, Aloise and John kindness, Mathole’s taste in music I was able to experience a perfect Cape Town stay. Cheers also to all the girls preparing breakfast and keeping the hostel spotless!

I have to admit to being a bit dubious about kicking off our holiday to Cape Town in a ‘hostel’ but, in fact, we both agreed we loved every moment. The rooms are immaculate, very comfortable, clean, and to be honest equipped with absolutely everything we needed. The bar area was lovely, very reasonable for a few evening drinks. Also, great pizzas, breakfasts and really friendly staff. The facilities are ideal for a Cape Town base, as is the location: we loved that we could pretty much walk everywhere from the hostel, from Sea Point to the V&A to Bo Kaap. Overall, we have no hesitation in recommending this place and would stay again next time we visit.

We loved staying at this backpackers. The vibe was very relaxed and welcoming and the host was friendly and helpful. The backpackers has a nice courtyard and bar which is perfect to for socializing with friends or making new friends from all over the world. I would definitely stay at her again. My only complaint was that there was one tiny dirty spot on the wall above my pillow which looked like someone smeared their snot (which is VERY gross) - hopefully housekeeping picks it up and rectifies the matter. But the rest of the backpackers was very clean.
