Hot Springs Hotels in Shanxi, China

The room was incredibly spacious, and the bathroom design was exceptionally convenient. The shower and toilet had a wooden door, and the sink was located outside with a small vanity mirror, making it very easy for everyone to use. The hotel is also very close to Daiwang Mansion, with many great restaurants nearby. The freshly prepared breakfast each morning was delicious. If we didn't go out in the afternoons, afternoon tea was provided. The environment was wonderful and very quiet. The service was outstanding, especially the front desk staff. The ladies and gentlemen at the front desk were all incredibly kind. Whenever we passed by, they would greet us. They were also very thoughtful, recommending local supermarkets and explaining everything in great detail. We really enjoyed the tea at afternoon tea, so we asked the front desk lady for a link to buy it. She was so nice and even gave us some, and then sent us the link the day after we checked out. They were truly incredibly attentive. When we first arrived, we were a bit early. The front desk gentleman greeted us at the entrance and directed us to parking, even sending us a video of the location. Once our room was ready, he also helped us bring up our luggage.

I found this guesthouse just 20 minutes before arriving in Pingyao. I contacted the owner and learned they offer pick-up and drop-off from the station. I thought 20 minutes wouldn't be enough time, but to my surprise, the owner immediately sent a housekeeper to pick us up in a Mercedes business van. They were incredibly efficient despite the short notice. The room was clean and tidy, and we even got a free upgrade to a larger one. The service quality was top-notch; they were constantly checking in to see if we needed anything. On the way to the guesthouse, they asked us what we wanted to drink, and when we arrived, our preferred welcome drinks were already prepared. There were also complimentary fruits and a specially prepared beverage waiting for us. I initially booked just one night, just to try it out, but I was so pleasantly surprised that I extended my stay for another night. All the staff were warm and attentive. I genuinely recommend this guesthouse to anyone visiting Pingyao.

Visiting the Wang Family Compound is quite convenient; the hotel is just a short walk from the west gate. There's a 5 RMB shuttle bus to the compound, and parking is available in the underground garage. Staff will help with your luggage. The rooms are on the lowest level, requiring a short climb up some stairs. Breakfast is located above check-in. The restaurant food is good. Since it was Mid-Autumn Festival when I checked in, they thoughtfully provided mooncakes. While the room facilities aren't new, the price is reasonable.

This trip was a complete and unexpected delight. My husband and I casually chose Xinzhou Ancient City from the map, not expecting much, because I thought all ancient cities were the same: quaint shops, sparse crowds, and touristy, commercially-run potato towers… However, this time, I truly fell in love with Xinzhou Ancient City. Our first stop was the guesthouse ”Peach Blossom Island. Jianghu.” The owner had sent us detailed directions and a list of times and locations for popular activities in the ancient city beforehand. Upon arrival, the owner and a friendly staff member were already waiting at the door, helping with parking and luggage. The interior was refreshingly decorated, giving off a feeling of ”entering Peach Blossom Island, filled with chivalry and loyalty!” Through the clean windows and tables, we could see the lush greenery of the inner corridor, a welcome respite from our cooped-up lives. A notice on the wall stated: if you are dissatisfied with the cleanliness or service, you can receive a pound of millet as a gift. 😁😁😁 I just want to say the owner is incredibly generous. After collecting our room key, we walked along the quietly flowing, intricately carved stone steps to our room. The ”green trees, red fish, and swimming turtles” along the way filled us with the joy of nature. Even the room names revealed the owner's chivalrous spirit and fondness for martial arts—Kongtong Sect, Huashan Sect, Wudang Sect… Snacks and fruit were already laid out in the room. The room was very clean, and the TV was a projector. We happened to be watching the Asian Cup U23 match that evening, and the projection was very clear; we could comfortably and clearly watch the movie from the bed. After settling in, my husband and I planned to explore the surrounding area. We were wondering where to go when the owner, seemingly noticing our hesitation, proactively came forward and introduced us to the brief history of the ancient city, the must-see spots, cultural and tourist attractions, and routes. With the owner's recommendations and warnings against pitfalls, my husband and I strolled around, enjoying delicious food along the way, and had a wonderful time. 😉 Xinzhou Ancient City is absolutely a perfect recommendation, but I won't elaborate further here. Because the return trip was quite long, I got up at 5 a.m. Before leaving, the owner even insisted on giving me a bag of millet weighing one pound. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 (ps: Can I have a ton of this kind of owner?) After leaving, the owner messaged me saying he'd left his slippers at the store. I was thinking of just leaving them, but then I realized I really didn't want them, since I'd worn them for years and had an attachment to them. So I told him to help me send them back and I'd cover the shipping cost. Later, the owner sent the slippers back, but refused to charge for shipping. 🤗🤗🤗 All I want to say is ”Peach Blossom Island. Jianghu,” see you again in the Jianghu! 🥰🥰🥰

The room still smells a little bit newly renovated. It is located on the bar street and it is very noisy. The front desk said that it will be arranged upstairs to make it less noisy, but the music in the bar next to it has been so loud that it makes people feel heartbroken. It has both points. Anyway, when I was lying on the bed, I regretted choosing this hotel. It's not close to the snack street, so you have to walk for a long time to get there. In short, except for those who like to stay up late at night, it's better to avoid lightning. The room facilities are okay, there is an automatic water dispenser, and the bath water is large, but the shower room and toilet are right next to the bed, which doesn't feel good. The so-called minibar snacks are just a pack of snacks.

My stay at Futiandahua Rain Hot Spring Hotel was absolutely fantastic! First off, the location is superb, right inside the ancient city. It's super close to where they do the iron flower show, which, by the way, is an absolute must-see. I'm getting on in years, but watching that show brought tears to my eyes; I was so moved by the performers' dedication and the incredible spectacle they put on. It's clear the hotel owner pays incredible attention to detail. My two girlfriends and I stayed in a triple room, and from the moment we walked into the lobby, we were gushing over the hotel's ambiance, the staff, and the room's decor. Every little detail was thoughtfully done. Even when we were heading out to explore the ancient city, the front desk proactively offered us a pack of tissues to take with us. The room itself was a standalone unit, so it was incredibly quiet. They delivered coffee and afternoon tea daily, and the fruit plate in the room was fresh. There was also a cooler in the lobby with bottled water available for guests. The whole room was smart-enabled with XiaoDu (a smart assistant), and the shower had great water pressure and was very comfortable, with a separate wet and dry area. Oh, one small thing: the trash can in the bathroom was a bit too small; I hope they can improve that. The private hot spring was amazing. After a full day of sightseeing, coming back to soak in the hot spring and chat was just pure bliss.

The best decision I made on this trip to Datong was choosing the Hidden Alley Homestay! It's located in an alley next to Kuixing Tower, offering a tranquil escape from the bustling city. You can walk to Daiwang Mansion and the Nine Dragon Screen in just 10 minutes, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the ancient city. The room was surprisingly spacious and clean, and the quality of the bedding was truly impressive. They even have a dedicated audio-visual room for movie nights, which made for a very enjoyable evening. The hot water in the bathroom was excellent, and the room itself was full of thoughtful details. The front desk staff was also incredibly warm and professional. They called me in advance to ask about my itinerary and shared some very practical travel tips. The local food and drinks they recommended were delicious too. Plus, there's a free parking lot, which is great for those traveling by car. That's why I extended my stay for another day! Next time I visit Datong with my parents, I'll definitely choose this place again. I've already recommended it to friends who are planning a trip to Datong – it's truly a hidden gem!

A hotel experience with unexpected joy~ The lark building in the lobby is spectacular. The room is equipped with speakers. The cleaning is also super high-end. The taste is very good. The soup is very private. Especially the special tone is very good. Come and 66 also introduced the room equipment in detail. When I came back, I went to see the iron flower. The hotel shuttle bus can also pick up Xinxin and Erbao Road and chatted about Shanxi and Zhangzhou Ancient City. It is too grounded. Next time you come with your family, the first choice for the ancient city hotel!

When I wanted to stay in the ancient city, my first consideration was parking. The hotel's own parking lot was my primary attraction. Secondly, the hotel's location is excellent, right next to Xiurong Academy. However, it's incredibly quiet at night. The front desk contacted me in advance and provided detailed directions. Upon arrival, we were escorted to the entrance by a barrier. The staff was already waiting in the parking lot, helping us with our luggage and checking us in. Our room had a circular hot spring bath, and the staff provided disposable bath bags and explained all the room amenities. When we checked out, the front desk even gave us corn grown by the owner. It was a truly heartwarming stay. I'll definitely be back.
