Octant Evora

This hotel is amazing! The rooms are spacious and very clean, the restaurant is great, there is an indoor pool, a sauna and a gym and the outside areas are also great. You don’t need to leave the premises. What makes this a five star rating: twice a day the rooms are provided with water. At the end of the day they will bring biscuits by, the restaurant is open all day (great when traveling with kids) - also for room- and pool-service. There are many activities for kids and they provide the cutest little presents for babies by arrival. They just have much attention for detail and really make an effort to make your stay pleasant! Make sure you don’t mind kids, since there are many of them ;)

The hotel is in a good location, is modern, elegant, clean and well-maintained. Staff were very friendly. The room and bed was very comfortable and inviting. One thing that would have been helpful, would have been driving instructions. Either that, or a pickup from the front desk when I called several times for help. Evora is full of narrow, winding and one-way roads, and the GPS route was unadvisable (it wasn't obvious that our vehicle would have had enough clearance to navigate the extremely narrow lane that GPS sent us on) so we ended up asking lots of people for driving instructions. I suppose that's part of the charm of the place but after a long drive to get there ...

We spent 2 nights here arriving by train and a short taxi ride from the train station. The Taxi only accepted cash which I did not have. I expected the driver would receive payment by credit card. So, my first encounter with the receptionist was to charge the fare to our room and provide currency for the driver. The receptionist telephoned the manager whom did not accept this arrangement. However, Antonio the receptionist went above and beyond in service by giving me 5 euros for tip and fair of his own money. I was so impressed by the gesture of this staff but not the management. I repaid Antonio with in minutes of finding an ATM machine and gave him double the amount he lended me. Another impressionable staff was Nelson whom treated us with exquisite service at the bar and at dinner. He deserved and received a direct tip that he wouldn’t have received if given through management. Management might want to take note of these performers as quality staff that reflects on the hotel service in a positive way. For breakfast the staff was indifferent and unenthusiastic. The higher end rooms here are large enough with sp**** decor and furniture. The floor is exposed grey concrete with no rug or tile coverings. It looks like it is still unfinished construction when contrasted with the pleasant marble bathroom walls. Good environment control with proper AC, fan, heat function. Bright room with large windows and window coverings that has an option for blocking the strong sun. The facility has both inside and outside small pools with recliners. The restaurant and bar is suitable for wine, cocktails, and reasonably valued food options. The location is walking distance to main tourist attractions in this small town.

Davvero consigliato
MouraSuites Hotel

The hotel is located in the old town of the gorgeous city of Evora. It’s indeed just refurbished and everything is brand new, the different spaces well decorated. I had a suite, all the comforts were available and the bathroom was really comfortable. No tub, but the shower made of grey stone very spacious and pleasant. Problems: the breakfast/dining room is only one and is tiny, so that for breakfast you have to take turns. If you wake up too early you have to wait, or if last minute you need to go early it can be fully booked and the staff is not very keen to find a solution, apart room service or accommodate you outside by the pool. That it can be good in summer, but not appealing in the other seasons… . A pity because a part this the hotel has a lot of charm and the staff was professional enough. The suite was a bit overpriced for the services offered. I would not recommend it for business, for holiday and with more flexibility in managing meals can be fine.

We were in Evora for a day and were very pleasantly welcomed. The hoteller has really explained everything very well and friendly and has marked the main points on a map for us. The room was well furnished and beautifully furnished. The bed may be a little soft and the room lightly bright but everything in all really nice ! Breakfast is also very pleasant.
Pateo Dos Solares Charm Hotel

Check-in was very good, We must say that Ana on reception was excellent and extremely helpful, and gave additional information on the town with a map and leaflets. Hotel grounds were lovely, our bed and room was large and comfortable. Breakfast and choice was good. Disliked · Breakfast 'hot food' was lukewarm even before 12 or more guests came down for breakfast by 09h. Evening meal was a big disappointment. We were advised to pre-book at least one hour in advance, but we were the only guests eating that evening, and already two items were unavailable on the mains menu. So we both chose the Tuna steak, but even that was a problem as there was only one left. The Tuna itself was not great, and seemed to be a lukewarm processed meal. Lamb came with roast potatoes - and lettuce?! Tuna steak came with vegetables though. The dessert that should have included raspberries came with strawberries instead.....? €7 for two American coffees and a little milk was a bit steep, even for hotel prices. Two minor irritations.... Although it was not possible to fully open the bedroom windows, (understandably as it was 2 floors up), it was impossible to keep them ajar in the breeze to allow cooler air into the room. The mini-bar fridge was on but not sufficiently cool enough as there was no setting to adjust it. Would consider staying again if 1) there was a very good offer, and 2) as a base to explore for a couple of days.
Alentejo Marmòris Hotel & Spa, a Small Luxury Hotel of the World

This is a wonderful, unique hotel in Vila Vicosa. It's owner also owns one of the many marble quarries in the area and has made extensive use of Portuguese marble as well as marble from other countries in the décor of the hotel. Our room was the Arabe suite which was one of the largest, most opulent suites we've ever stayed in. Daily housekeeping was thorough and efficient and our bed was extremely comfortable. The daily breakfast was full of many different dishes, including typical European breakfast food, as well as pastries, eggs and sausage. Service at the hotel and dining areas was attentive and professional. The one issue, which seems to be unique to Portugal since I've never run into it before, is that one Nespresso coffee pod was provided each morning for free and each additional pod was 2 Euros each. Every hotel I've ever stayed in has always offered free in-room coffee. But, in the grand scheme of things, this was minor annoyance since coffee was plentiful in the dining area and included with breakfast.
Convento do Espinheiro, Historic Hotel & Spa

Second visit to this hotel. Stayed in the Room Deluxe Suite in the Convent first time which had a large terrace offering spectacular views of the area. We would have booked it again had it been available. The Deluxe Design room was also very good and comfortable. The staff were all very friendly, helpful & efficient. Dinner in the Divinus restaurant was just as enjoyable as on our first visit as was the breakfast buffet. The lighting and colour scheme created a soft clean atmosphere in what could otherwise have appeared as a cold Cloister area. Would recommend a visit to the church - beautifully restored.
The Lince Ecorkhotel Évora

Not a great start but did get better through the 4 days. Our arrival was frosty, especially madame manager who couldn’t crack a smile for her customers. Next it’s a 4 star hotel that wanted payment for the room upfront. Then they didn’t accept Amex and finally, laundry service was suspended but they could give us the details of do it yourself launderettes in the town. Not a good start to our expensive stay. That said we had a very nice bungalow, well maintained and a nice cool retreat from the blistering summer heat. Great shower pressure, comfortable beds. All the important things for a vacation. The weird process of having to book specific times for breakfast and dinner didn’t make much sense, especially since there were never more than 4 tables occupied for the times we were there. Could be a process still in place from the pandemic. The jewel was the roof pool and solarium. A lovely place to chill after tourism. The staff we engaged with were very nice and helpful. It’s a shame our initial experience was tainted by management and some obscure policies you’d not expect for a hotel with 4 stars.
