Beautiful old hotel decorated historically and glamorous. The staff were all super friendly and the room was very elegant. The lobby bar was nice with comfortable bar chairs and the location was walkable to many restaurants, bars and the Adler theatre. My only recommendation is for the hotel to invest in new bed pillows.

We loved our stay. We were nervous because previous reviews said the furniture and carpets needed replacement. Not true! The ambiance they are going for is a rustic cabin or fishing lodge. As far as I could tell, just one chair in each room is „distressed“ meaning the chair was new but had been beat up to make it look old. The breakfast was very good. I‘ve never seen croissants at a hotel breakfast before. We especially appreciated that the rooms were truly clean-no stray hairs or flecks of junk to try to ignore. I thought the beds were perfect while my husband said they were a little too firm.

First off, this hotel was absolutely beautiful. Very upscale and classy, modern décor, super clean, great beds, awesome bathroom with a tv in the bathroom mirror. We loved everything about our room. The staff was super friendly and helpful too. We booked this as a couples get away and because we saw the awesome rooftop patio and thought it would be so nice and romantic to go hang out up there in the evenings. We shared this idea with the person we booked the room with and they talked about how nice and peaceful it was up there. Our first night there we went up to enjoy the Rise Up and found it was completely packed with a bunch of drunk 20 something year old's and there wasn't a place to sit. We had one drink inside the (not for hotel guests). We thought maybe we could enjoy it the next day and see the view, but we went back up and they have it closed along with Rise Up so you couldn't access it until 4pm. We never went back. We had planned to do most things at the hotel and that just wasn't an option. We were going to eat breakfast there but we failed to notice on their website that Viva is temporarily closed. Then in the evening we wanted some bottled water/pop. Guess what, they have no vending at all. So we had to drive around downtown Davenport to try to find a place to get water/pop. Not being able to eat there or have vending were totally inconvenient especially being downtown and not wanting to keep going back to our car to leave. Also parking was $12 a day unless you wanting to hunt for your own spot around downtown. We were disappointed with how this all turned out.

Because the hotel was nearly booked, we stayed in the most expensive 2 rooms. The rooms did not appear to have the best cleaning. In one of the rooms, the two A/C units were broken (stuck on 61 degrees). I informed the desk after the first night, and was gone 12 hours, only to come back to unserviced A/C. Because of low housekeeping staff, they cut corners. Not a good experience. I am sure they do better on better days, but this was a lost opportunity to excel rather than to take shortcuts in service.

Poor lighting, couldn’t figure out how to just turn on 1 light. Bathroom lights to bright to keep light on all night. You should install small night light in bathroom. Refrigerator too small and u need coffee maker in room Beds comfortable, bedding cozy, and quiet room. Thanks for great weekend in Des Moines.

Very good hotel, every service staff is very patient... I can hardly speak English, and I can use translation software to be barrier-free... Good breakfast, very good drop-off service... Very close to the airport... The big supermarket next to it is convenient Shopping for food... I haven't commented on Ctrip for many years, this hotel is worth recommending...
Heartland Inn Coralville

I stayed here the other night on my way to Indiana. I wouldn’t call the place a dump, but I wouldn’t call it a nice place, either. The price was affordable, yes. Check-in was easy, but the desk staff weren’t terribly welcoming. “What’s your name, place your card here, sign here, stairs are over there, breakfast at 6/coffee is 24 hours.” Nothing terrible, but also very stand-offish. The room was not great. The beds are in serious need of updating, as in you sleep on a noticeable angle because the mattress has worn down so much from where everyone else has slept. The ironing board was downright dirty: I used a towel I had packed to act as a buffer. The A/C worked but was loud. The bathroom was fine but the shower had lots of cracks in the ceiling. To top it all off, on my way out (I had to leave very early in the morning), I went to turn my keys in and the staff person was flat-out asleep at the desk. They looked very comfortable so I decided to just leave them alone, but c’mon…not a good look. So, yeah, it’s not horrible. However, it could be better. It’s in a good location (outside of IC but really close, yet also away from the craziness that is Coral Ridge Ave, but also very close to the interstate) and you have Old Chicago literally right there. The price is pretty good. It’s just a shame that so many things have been allowed to go bad.
