We've been to the Penhelig Arms Hotel many times but I'm afraid the place is now very tired and is in need of some investment and TLC. Since it was taken over a few years ago, the restaurant meals are no longer superior quality but are akin to pub chain churn out. The staff are mainly cheerful enough. Shame, it was a good hotel.

This was not the first time we stayed at the Penhelig Arms and we were not disappointed. The friendliness and efficiency of the staff were excellent and their willingness to help was outstanding. The restaurant and bar staff were only too willing to please which made our stay very enjoyable. The food could not be faulted. Nothing was too much trouble for them and Adam stood out.

Lovely place to sit and have a drink with some nibbles. You have one major issue though which needs addressing…the guy that works behind the bar ‘Barry’ I think his name is. Why is he even there? He’s rude, lazy and ignorant. We went to the bar to order food and drinks, he avoided us for a good 10 mins although he wasn’t doing anything else. Once he finally decided to serve us he was very rude! No hello, no smiles such a drip! This is putting us off coming here, a few times this has happened now and getting pretty fed up with his attitude. Learn to smile and be polite or get rid! All other staff were great, foo also very good.

Very friendly welcome, with easy parking next to the bins. Given an attic room of ‘cosy’ dimensions. Not at all like the photos, sizewize, but very clean . Soon discovered that we were the closest room to the railway line. ( ever watched the Ladykillers film?) nice bar areas, and enjoined the evening meal. Can also recommend the Tides inn for a pint. We would stay again, but check which room first.

We have been to Aberdovey many times and in our opinion the Penhelig Arms Hotel is the jewel in the Crown. Fabulous views we have also stayed at he hotel previously which was fantastic. We visited Aberdovey from the10th to the 20th of May this year but just used the bar facilities. Baz and the team working with him are a credit to your company friendly and very helpful. Again can't thank them enough Have and Lynn

Drove up the coast and found this place. Fantastic views from the Beer Garden, I would have eaten out there if it wasn't for suspicious looking clouds and an aggressive looking seagull. Service was excellent, particularly from the Adam and Lauren (who was having to train a new staff member but still provided excellent service. Food overpriced for what it is, is nice high quality, pub food, cooked very well, but at a tourist price. You're paying for the view and service rather than portion size. Still worth it, will definitely be back!

Sorry had a frustrating experience - the bar area felt very ‘frantic’ - sitting in the bar trying to have a meal while people are queuing for the bar beside you made it feel very cramped - they also got our meal order wrong which was again frustrating.

what a afab little gem,had such a lovbely time,fatastic food,friendly staff,had a real giggle with the waitress sarah,but all staff made us feel at home,the hotel itself needs a little tlc but that didnt stop us having the best time while we was here
