This hotel is lovely but it needs more staff we had a three night stay restaurant was only open on one of the nights that we stayed. Our room was not cleaned at all while we were there, which is not the standard I expect, needs a big improvement in staffing.

The hotel is set in beautiful countryside with fantastic views over Aberporth. Close to Newquay, cardigan and local beaches. The Wenden room was beautifully decorated with a comfy bed, very clean, tea, coffee, biscuits and water available. The food was superb, beautifully presented and plenty to eat, compliments to the chef. All staff were very friendly and helpful. A facial massage by Rachel, booked before we arrived, was so relaxing, I would highly recommend her. The hotel was a bit quiet for June which may be expected due to the current economic climate, but we would definitely return.

What a great find. A beautiful hotel with wonderful views of the coast. A very peaceful quiet location. A lovely welcome from the staff followed by a very tasty evening meal in the 'Bistro' and after a very good night's sleep we had a lovely breakfast in the breakfast room. We will be back.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful place with great views of the coast. We visited, as non residents, for dinner with friends. We arrived in good time and noticed that the hotel seemed to be quite busy it’s people dining in the conservatory with great views. We were shown to our table which was in an otherwise empty room. Our table was in the middle of the room, there was no atmosphere whatsoever in this room. We had been put in the breakfast room as close by the toaster, packets of cereal etc we’re waiting for the morning. We were given menus by a very friendly waitress along with a wine list. We ordered a bottle of wine which was brought to the table and plonked down. In an establishment such as this I would have expected that we would have, at least been opened, shown the label and asked if we’d like to taste. Two other tables were then occupied so we didn’t feel quite as though we were in the way. The room was cold so we didn’t take off our jackets-shame that a fire hadn’t been lit in the fireplace. As well as providing some heat it would have added a warm ambience. The meals arrived , the steaks were good however the fish was overcooked and only warm, the veggie wellington looked dry and unappetising however it tasted ok. We thought we’d have coffee in the lounge however this was also cold with an empty fireplace we passed on that. Apparently as non residents we were unusual and splitting the bill in half caused confusion. Overall it’s a lovely setting but training for staff should be higher on the agenda as we likened it to Faulty Towers.

Staying in the Penrallt while I’m visiting Wales on a business assignment. It’s a beautiful location with breathtaking views. The decor is fantastic with old school charm. The management and staff have been very helpful and provided a home away from home feel. The site owner takes personal interest in making sure the guests are looked after and that the facilities are kept in optimum condition. I highly recommend this hotel, no matter what the purpose of your visit.

We came to the area for the first time and stayed at the Penrallt Hotel for the weekend. What can I say, everything was perfect! Set in a gorgeous location with views to die for and plenty of wonderful walks. The hotel is beautiful, rooms are extremely clean and comfortable and the food was delicious! The staff are lovely, and attentive, and a credit to the owner, Angela, who is warm, welcoming and goes the extra mile to ensure that her guests are happy. Highly recommended and can’t wait to return. An absolute gem!

I stopped at this bespoke hotel and was amazed by the very high standards in every aspect of my stay , the staff was polite and nothing was to much for them , the views over Aberporth and sea from my balcony room was the best I've seen in a long time Food : Outstanding and presented as if I was in a top London restaurant, I had the king prawns for starter tasted out of this world , mains I had the pork belly , the plate came out a picture and it had the best crackling on it , and dessert was the chocolate tote , what can I say , it's heven on a spoon I will definitely be revisting asap Amazing experience 5 star

We were staying in the area and decided to eat in a posh hotel rather than another evening of pub grub. The hotel was beautiful with excellent views from the dining room and the owner, Angela, was very welcoming. However the food portions were very small and my crispy pork belly was topped by a very rubbery piece of 'crackling'. When the waitress asked if everything was ok, I mentioned the crackling and she apologised and took my plate back to the kitchen. The meal returned 5 minutes later minus the crackling and by now only just luke warm. Apparently the chef was going to try to "crisp it up". I obviously still wasn't happy so the manager appeared to reassure me that it wasn't their fault but the meat supplier. When the crackling came back it had obviously been under the grill for a couple of minutes and wasn't much better. We decided to pay up and leave rather than staying for desserts and coffee. As we went to settle up, the owner reiterated that my disappointing meal was not her responsibility or the chef's but her meat supplier. She said she'd be in touch with him the next day to complain about it. The whole experience was quite unpleasant. We were spoken down to and were made to feel that it was our fault that we had a problem with the meal. It seemed that if they just kept repeating the same line about the supplier we would eventually accept this hogwash. I was asked to pay the bill in full but she reluctantly, through gritted teeth, agreed to knock off 10%.If people struggle to be hospitable to their customers, I don't think that they should be in the hospitality business.
