Amanera Playa Grande is a joke. Don’t waist your money. Took a special flight to view the project. No more tables for potencial clients in the restaurant amymore. This tells a lot. Incompetente at the “highest” level. Not willing to buy in this project anymore.

Pros: Exotic Location Privacy : Few guests Beautiful Beach Friendly staff Beautiful Architecture of hotel Well maintained villas Cons: Limited Food Variety [ Just 1 full time restaurant. 2nd Restaurant is open for limited time and days ] Low quality hotel toiletries Ambiguous billing. No Cabanas on the Beach. Spa-Massage staff cut short the promised duration of the Massage. Even though there were no other next scheduled appointment. Wild ferocious dogs on other side of beach - very unsafe. Conclusion: Compared to the other similar Luxury High-end hotels we have stayed in, Amanera did not deliver the expected standard of service and experience.

We are the so called "Amanjunkies" and have visited more than 15 Aman Resorts around the world. Amanera is one of the best Aman Resorts for anyone to experience. The staff is amazing and super friendly, catering to everything we can dream of. This is done in the most Aman way, subtle and elegant. Thank you to the whole Amanera team for this most special experience.

The area is rugged and natural, definitely feel like away from everything. The lobby building is very big, lots of space, tall and open air, minimalist. There is a lot of staff who are all very friendly. The casitas are as expected for Aman, clean, unobtrusive aesthetics, very big. The outdoor spaces are very big too and a nice place to relax and enjoy the surroundings and oceanview. Beach club is awesome aerying. Quiet beach, big tall ceiling, open space. Breakfast at lobby building is good, beach club food is ok. Main reason for coming this way was to play golf at Playa Grande. The relationship b/w Aman and Playa Grande is confusing but hotel provides transpo to golf. Meals at Playa Grande venues were very good and contrast to quieter, elegant setting at the hotel. The gym at hotel has regular weights and cardio stuff and battle ropes, tires, TRX , rower on the patio. There is a yoga stretching platform out on the field. Nice place to chill out but not a lot to do around the area, a couple days visit was good for a weekend golf trip.

We picked amanera as our honeymoon destination… emailed them in advance to let them know and to inquire if we could have a specific casita. While the property wasn’t even at 50% capacity they didn’t attempt at all. We loved the property and the friendly staff. The food was okay in the main restaurant and much better at the beach club. I am disappointed at the management for not even doing anything special even tho they knew it was a honeymoon and a special celebration. There was no extraordinary welcome or at turndown anything special. What really bothered me is that we did a lot of the excursions and they really nickel and dime you …. A ceviche class gets 18% service fee and the gratuity added to it since it was hosted at the beach club kitchen. I would definitely not recommend doing their excursions as I feel like that’s where they really just stack it on. Also the package included all meals and they also don’t take into consideration the concept of not nickel and dimming there… when guests stay 5 nights have some common sense and definitely don’t make them feel they are okay getting taken advantage of... I would love to see if any of the other Aman resorts are similar or not?

I've been here for a week with my adult daughter. This property is exquisite in every way. Within just a couple of days we were so relaxed - when elsewhere that process takes much longer. The people that work here are the happiest and most accommodating I've every experienced. The service is beyond your expectations. My daughter had her 25th birthday here and they made it so special in so many ways. I'm so grateful. I've been to many tropical beaches in my life but this is by far the most peaceful and beautiful. We rarely saw another person on a beach that is a mile long. The water is the most beautiful different colors of blue. We did several excursions while here: hike to nearby mountain top, snorkeling/cave tour, tour of the local cenote called Lagoon Dudu which was really fun, and deep sea fishing. We did not catch a fish that day but the staff on board was very professional and we enjoyed being out on the water. The rooms here are spectacular and beyond spacious to say the least, and very private. The main infinity pool over looks the ocean and is one of the most beautiful pools I've ever been in. We usually had it to ourselves. The food at the main restaurant and at the one by the beach is delicious. Ask for the in room dining menu if you want something simple. But it's Aman so you can just ask for what you want whether it's on the menu or not. And as usual for Aman properties there are no individual meal checks which I ADORE. Plus, we never had to make a reservation for any meal. Amangiri will remain my favorite Aman property but this one is a close second. Clearly the part of the island this property is on was specially selected for it's seclusion. It's very special! Thank you everyone at Amanera for a wonderful vacation!

Located in a secluded region of the DR with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean from most of the property! We stayed 5 nights in spacious Casita 17 with floor to ceiling windows that allowed the exotic & lush landscape to become walls of art! Equipped with a separate seating & bath area, outdoor living area with private pool & outdoor shower, you won’t want to leave this magnificent venue where views of the Ocean are seen from the comfort of a luxurious kind size bed! Lighting, air conditioning & room darkening shades are controlled by smart home technology! Amenities included an array of local snacks, flat and sparkling water and each night a special treat highlighting examples of the unique culture as part of the educational offerings. We enjoyed working out with the instructors, learning to paddle-board and hiking through the neighboring jungle, tasting hand-picked fruit along the way! Finally, we cannot say enough about the exceptional staff which included Eric, Joma, Freddy, Leonardo, Maria, Carlos David, Daniel, Jazmin among others who anticipated our every need. Daily we were asked if we had everything we needed, and we even chatted with GM Larry before our departure. Given the elements, the property is in need of some maintenance & repair which was already planned shortly after our departure! We plan on returning, God-willing, very soon, and many times!

Pros: -Absolutely stunning location! Exceeded/met our expectations based on photos and videos we watched prior! The beach was clean (no seaweed/very pretty!), water was pristine, common grounds were clean (with the exception of their beach club which was run down and needed some updates) restaurant/common area/pool/gym…all very clean and very nice! There were no vendors harassing you even though all beaches in DR are public. They had security so that helped:-) The room itself-incredible! - It was so spacious with a living area that had sliding doors you could close off if you wanted 2 separate sleeping areas (ie bring kids) but no tv in the living room so if you did have kids there’s no tv in there, just FYI. -The closet was a walk-in with his/her spaces with tons of room. -They provided us with a cute sun hat and ball cap as well as flip flops to keep in our closet upon arrival. -The bathroom had his/her sinks and a vanity in the middle, again very spacious! The toilet had a semi-opaque door so not totally private if some people might be weird about that. But there’s another 2 doors to enter the bathroom so you could still have privacy. Shower&Tub…and an outdoor shower by the pool as well. -the TV was retractable and allowed for a full view at the foot of the bed of the pool and ocean! -they had automatic room darkening shades which really were room darkening! -there was a mini fridge and Nespresso machine with complimentary: Nespresso pods, water, sparkling water, beer, milk, Coca Cola, and chocolate bars. There were 2 bottles of wine there but for an added cost. -there were 2 AC units and we were very comfortable temperature wise. -Private pool was VERY private! -there’s was a TON of outdoor space. We absolutely loved this! They had just as much sun space as they did shaded so we were both comfortable and could take a break from the sun any time of the day! Seriously-I could not have picked a better room accommodation. It was amazing! -Cons- The ONLY room con would be the bed wasn’t very comfortable. We even packed a foam mattress cover (based on reviews) and our personal pillows and it just wasn’t very comfortable. -Recommendations- -bring your own pillow -bring snacks…there’s no snacks to purchase there and nothing provided in the room for just snacking on besides chocolate bars and some fruit. -bring a pool float and they’ll blow it up for you -bring a milk frother if you don’t like straight up espresso as your morning drink. (Or bring a small travel size Kerug and your own pods for regular coffee) -we used bottled water for our teeth brushing but they said the water was filtered. I didn’t want to risk it:-) The gym: -there were 2 treadmills, 4 bikes, one elliptical, and one Rower. There were plenty of hand weights, foam rollers, and weighted balls, as well as one cable machine. It was clean and very empty every day. The Spa: -The Amanera spa was off site located on the DLC Playa Grande Golf and Ocean Club property. There

We had a fantastic time here. It took about a couple days to calm down and start taking in the peace that surrounds you here but then you start relaxing and taking note of this natural beauty. No crowds. Saw about 10 people max in 4 days total. First night we were quite disappointed with the food. It was really nothing special and we complained about it as one would not expect this at an Aman resort. The next morning with breakfast Larry the GM came to talk to us and assured us we will not have any issues again. He was right. The food thereafter was fantastic and up to par to what one would expect here…amazing beach dinner BBQ, incredible breakfasts, fully customizable menus (oh the Rum is fantastic ) and outstanding service from the staff. Most of them locals. Elvis was exceptional and waited on us most of the time. Friendly, professional and genuine….ask for him when you are there….he is a fantastic server….Santos and Ana and Felix as well gave us such good service! Amazing beach surrounded by a lush tropical forest. It’s beautiful. We went horse riding which was also a nice experience and all was managed very well for us. I highly recommend Amanera. We will be back !
