Royal Sun Resort

We decided to return to Tenerife again but this time a resort we’d never been to before. This ended up being Los Gigantes for our 10 day stay. We knew about the steep hills and were prepared for them. And by golly they are steep. Walk down but taxi back is all I can say. We chose to stay in the Royal Sun Resort. Way way way up at the highest point possible. When we arrived at the airport TUI provided a mini bus for us to get to the hotel. Great but the 45 minute wait at the airport for the driver to turn up was not fun as we were told to stand by “the big window” by the TUI rep. No seats near the big window. Once on board the mini bus we dropped off 3 other groups on route and then made to trip to the royal sun. When we got there there were building works going on at the front and the lazy driver could not be bothered to drive us up the hill to the entrance stating he could not turn around. Ok that’s fair we thought and started the slog pulling suitcases to the hotel. When we got there we passed an adequate place he most definitely could have turned around. He was clearly in a rush to get home for his evening meal seeing as he had a chat to his wife/girlfriend en route. We mentioned this to the TUI rep the next day and she arranged for a taxi to pick us up on departure day. Awesome. Worked out well. So onto the Royal Sun Resort where we had booked half board First of all the pros Excellent food Full cooked breakfast inc continental and fruit. Evening meals fabulous with a different theme of day. BBQ, Chinese, Italian etc etc Very attentive staff Massive apartment with a massive balcony Cleaned daily except Sundays. Towels changed every two days Very quiet location (even with road works going on. Don’t let this put you off you won’t even notice it’s happening around you) Handy mini market on site although a tad expensive but only a little. An excellent barman in the entertainment area. Very attentive and perfectionist at cocktail making Helpful receptionists Clean and tidy throughout the whole hotel. Lovely pool area with plenty of sun beds (November) so no need to rush in the morning to claim a sun bed. Plus there’s a whole lot more I’ve probably forgotten. Now for the cons. Having to get out of the lovely comfortable bed in time to have breakfast. And that’s about it. For us we wanted a calm relaxing holiday this year to just wind down. We got that for the whole time we were there. Lovely place and will definitely return again at some point in the future.

Lovely big room for the two of us. Amazing views from the balcony. Lovely friendly, helpful staff. Plenty of choice at the buffet breakfast. Would definitely go back and recommend. The work going on infront of the hotel was not really a problem, they started early and were gone by the time we came back from a day out and couldn't be heard if we stayed round the pool.

It's the first time we have stayed in Los Gigantes, although we were familiar with the area. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a suite at the Royal Sun Resort, which was a lovely surprise and added to the whole experience. The quality of food was very good. The time of year was quiet, just as we had wanted and the weather didn't disappoint. We would certainly visit the Royal Sun again, and again.
