The Room wasn’t the cleanest! dusty headboard and dirty light fittings next to the bed. No plug sockets next to the beds. Bath/ shower wasn’t the cleanest either. There was a wedding/function on with loud, shouting rowdy guests and a lot of antisocial behaviour inside and outside the hotel in the car park happening throughout the night. kids running round all floors of the hotel and seemed the hotel staff turned a blind eye to everything that was going on. Food was nice and reasonably priced. Overall the hotel was okay, wouldn’t have said it was a four star hotel but three at best.

If on occasion you visit Wales and for some reason you go to Wrexham; One of the best hotels you can find is perhaps the Rossett Hall. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and always attentive to your needs. They have an attached restaurant that you will surely like. I 100% recommend that you make your reservation including the Breakfast service, because it is wonderful! As for its location, it is essential that you take a taxi from the central station and buses, because, although you can take a bus to get there, the journey is very long since the bus makes too many stops. Without a doubt, if you are a traveler who appreciates silence and tranquility, this hotel is undoubtedly for you!

What a great place to visit Chester from. We got in early to guarantee a good on-site parking place, and were then met by the most pleasant receptionist. The room (a Smart Studio) was delightful, spacious, clean and modern. The bathroom was excellent and we were very pleased to see and use the walk-in shower. The bed was very comfortable, too. The excellent location meant that we walked into the city centre within 5 minutes, but we were far enough away not to be disturbed by late night revellers from the pubs and clubs. Although we were initially concerned at hearing the hourly bell chimes from the racecourse, we needn't have worried, they end at 11pm. The 'quick grab' breakfast suited us fine, not being great fans of the 'full english' breakfast anyway. With so many good eating places within easy reach there was no need to use the excellent cooking facilities. Overall, we couldn't recommend it highly enough. Just what we wanted and at a great price.

We parked in the Grosvenor shopping centre (£10 for 24hrs) walked through the mall to the hotel. Modern, fresh design reception and nicely decorated bar and restaurant. Quick check in, clean room, comfortable beds. Waitress Lelde was spot on and gave excellent service. Limited menu with our Secret Escape deal but adequate for the price we paid. Room a little hot/stuffy as we couldn't open the window, but it did have AC we could have probably played around with. Breakfast had a hot buffet and a selection of cereal and bagels, bread and pastries. Small little containers of over night oats and fresh cut fruit containers were really nice. Drinks machines dispenses the usual latte etc or another had fresh juices. I didn't see any decafe options though. Hotel was spot on, although Chester high street has gone down hill. Lots of boarded up shops. The shops remaining are jewellery shops, cafes or a few clothes shop. Shame there lacks the independent original shops that tourist love to look around for something different. Would recommend if we had to visit the city again and I'm quite a fussy traveller!

My husband & I stayed at this hotel in Chester on 6-7th Sept. We were originally supposed to stay 4th-6th but due to car problems at home, we'd had to phone on the morning of each of the first 2 days to cancel the first 2 nights. We finally arrived on the afternoon of 6th for what was supposed to be the last night of our original booking. Check-in was friendly & efficient, & even though we'd arrived earlier than the official check-in time, we were immediately checked in with no problems. Even better, when paying we were most pleasantly surprised to find that hadn't been charged for the previous 2 nights that we'd had to cancel....no quibble, no arguments, no question! (I'd naturally assumed that we'd lost that money, which was a couple of 100 quid, especially as we'd only cancelled the morning of the same day we were supposed to arrive, ie less than 24hrs notice!). So we decided to stay an extra night with the saved £££. Our room was nicely decorated, clean, tea & coffee facilities, comfy bed etc. When we left to go exploring, Reception rang my mobile to say there had unfortunately been a mix up with the room, & someone else had actually already reserved & checked into it before us (the Receptionist that had checked him in was a trainee, & had forgotten!). Many apologies on their part, & asked if we minded changing rooms....no problem I said, sh*t happens. Anyway, they moved our belongings for us & informed us that as compensation, we would be upgraded to a suite! Well! It was lovely (Room 220), had a separate sitting room with TV & sofa, bedroom had a mahoosive bed (which was so so comfy), bathrobes & slippers provided, TV also in bedroom, Elemis toiletries. V tastefully decorated, & at the back of the hotel so no street noise. The building itself was apparently built as a hotel sometime in the 1600s so is very old & quaint, it's a beautiful building. The staff are excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast let it down slightly (tho the staff worked very hard & again, were polite & nothing was too much trouble), but there were items missing from the full English (namely beans & black pud), & the continential option was a little limited (eg only orange juice offered, eg no apple or cranberry, no milk options, limited cereals, no jams). You also have to reserve your breakfast time the night before. It's also worth noting that this hotel doesn't do evening meals, though there is a bar & I believe they do do afternoon teas. Tho this is not a problem as there are many restaurants close by. Water fountains are available in the corridors, & a jug provided in your room for you to fill up...much better than plastic bottles of water, it's a great idea. Special shout out to Stephie on Reception, she is a credit to the hotel...helpful, friendly, efficient & professsional with every interaction, she really made a difference to our whole stay. On arrival we were pleased with the hotel and location sadly as our stay progressed we were less pleased Our room was nice and big but. Very little sockets. Nothing by the bed for phone charging There was no toilet paper. We had to ask and they bought one ?? There was no fridge in the room There was no biscuits with the coffee On day two we asked why our room had not been serviced and towels changed I was told there is a note in the bathroom saying you had your ask fir this service I had not seen this it was a very small note on the wall Could not see without glssses. Don’t usually wear them in the bathroom We paid £300 fir two nights and this only gave us one hours use of the Spa ??? then £10 an hour. No thanks If you wanted a Robe it was £7.50 For a 4 star hotel it lacked the up market feel It appears it is going through cost cutting exercises which could damage the brand Would not go back

The hotel was grim and extremely outdated and overpriced. We had so many issues. Upon check in we were given a room that had rubbish outside the front door including used sanitary items, the room was filled with dust, blood or other substances on the skirting boards, damaged head boards, cobwebs, stains on the carpet and sick smells. The hotel was fully booked however they did change our rooms - someone else who hadn’t checked in unfortunately got the rooms we were swapped out of. The next rooms were not much better, hair on the bed and on the chairs and our friends room smelled like the cleaners had just been to the toilet (they were in the room when they checked in and walked in), previous guests dirty beauty blender on the floor and cobwebs everywhere, dirty tea pots! We complained to reception 4 times. Each time we were told the room had been cleaned but that was not the case. 11pm that night and it still hadn’t been resolved but after a long day travelling we just needed to get some sleep. Complained the next morning and the rooms did not get cleaned until 6pm that evening. We were given a round of drinks at the bar, a bottle of champagne and wine in the room as an apology. We were also advised we would have 30% taken off our stay and to obtain the refund upon check out. The head house keeper cleaned the rooms at about 6pm and after that they finally felt as clean as they could be and smelled clean. Breakfast & Afternoon Tea we’re great, however we did have to wait for 15 mins to be seated each time - no one knew we were even waiting which I think is ridiculous seeing as a time was booked. None the less the food was good. They did however have lists of names and booking details at the front for anyone to view - no disregard to GDPR here whatsoever. Spa Day - spa was ok. Some of the areas in the thermal spa were not working so seemed pointless paying extra for that and the lunch provided was below average. My massage wasn’t great at all however my friend had the exact same massage and said hers was really good. Upon check out the following day we were told only 30% off the first night was going to be refunded and the amount entered into the card machine didn’t even equate to 30%! We eventually got to speak to a manager who eventually gave us the full 30% refund and said a phone call would be made on Tuesday to discuss the appalling service we received despite the extortionate price we paid for our stay…. No phone call of course! It seems excuse after excuse was made and it wasn’t acceptable and to have the room ready for check in as it should have been at 6pm the following night I would have expected a much higher refund offered as there was no point us even staying on the first night. We got a taxi into Chirk a few times and the taxi driver said so many of their clients complained in exactly the same way. I’m surprised this hotel is still operating and at full capacity. We definitely won’t be returning and won’t be recommending this

We have had a lovely stay, and it would only take a few tweaks to make this hotel better. Good: *It's in the perfect location, we took an uber into the centre of Chester for less than £5. *Breakfast was relaxed with a great selection as a buffet service. *Spacious room with all the amenities you need. *Plenty of free parking. *Beautiful grounds and really quiet at night. *Great value for money Needs Improving: *Cleaning standard is average, black mold around the taps in the bathroom that could be easily resolved. *Bathroom floor was desperate for a good mop *Bed wasn't the comfiest as 2 twins fastened together leaving a gap in the middle. *Staffing levels affecting customer service levels, we decided to order room service, took an age to answer the phone and then said could be collected from reception, kind of goes against the point of room service, so we left it, not great for the hotels add on sales if that happens everytime. *No enough bar staff, we ordered food but it was cold and one meal was not what we ordered but too hungry to wait for it to be replaced, apparently fish finger sandwich is identical to fish and chips anyway according to the waitress! Like I said it won't take much for this hotel to raise it's customer service standards to an excellent level, more staff will fix most of the issues, despite everything mentioned we would probably stay again.
