Karma Minoan

We arrived last Saturday with me my partner my mate and his partner had a amazing first few days on the island the hotel is up on the mountains over looking the sea the location is to die for while having breakfast in the morning really is location is ideal beach not far bus service outside but we got motorbikes and travelled 15 min into town ideal the staff can not so enough for u very helpful from reception right to the bar staff honestly u will not get service like it they can't do enough anyway Thursday my friend had a accident on the motorbike ended up in hospital and the hotel couldn't of been anymore help to the point of getting me taxi to and from hospital getting us anything we need and also translating Greek to English also to the point my friend is still over there now trying to get home for a operation and they are putting him up until this coming Friday as it is the only flight to come home this is the service karma provide it really is 5 star service and beyond right from the manager to cleaners they really should be proud of every single staff they have on the complex thank you karma I will myself defiantly come back to the hotel and also the island Thank you for our stay which was very very pleasant up till my friend accident

Boy, we really loved so many things about this place. The 3 stars is for the accommodations only. The unit needs serious work. The bathroom is so small, and have the look of poor construction and workmanship. The faux concrete look in the bathroom makes it just gross and was not good and looked terrible and dirty in our unit. I actually thought maybe our bathroom was being remodeled until I asked. I was told it's suppose to look this way. There were cracks in the ceiling, and there was poor patching fixes on the ceiling from previous cracks. The caulking job was awful around the toilet. The shower is so small and does not work and my guess is water is often hitting the ceiling or flooding out of the shower itself. The bathroom has no fan so when you close the door you're dripping sweat when you come out. We kept the door open to tolerate this better. The entire unit ended up smelling like whatever was happening in the bathroom. There is no lighting or mirror for to apply make-up or do your hair, I was not interested in spending more time than I needed to in the bathroom. There is no place to put your clothes in the unit itself other than a closet area or your suitcase. There is a little old looking white fridge sitting on the floor. The only furniture is that and a desk and chair (that scratches up the floor) everything else is built into the unit itself. Such as a bed platform and side tables. There is a lengthwise mirror on the wall, and a giant blue pot, that is there for cosmetic reasons only. These are not five star accommodations, not even close. It's a shame there is so much that is five star about Karma Minoan but the units themselves don't measure up. What is five star is the staff, Anna, Georgia, George, and housekeeping, They are so wonderful and make the resort what it is, and they go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need or want. Without them we would have moved to a hotel. The view is crazy good from every unit, and the pool looks very inviting. The grounds generally are wonderful. Most evenings we wanted to turn the air off and open the door and window and enjoy the ocean breeze. But, we could not do this because there are no screens. The restaurant was great, and we thought reasonable in price. The social happy hours were fun and made it so you talked to people when you ran into them around the resort. We had a great trip. But, the accommodations in the unit itself just did not measure up and I expected much better after reading all the five star reviews. There is no reason for Karma not to put into their units thoughtful, five star quality furniture, decoration, and workmanship.

I loved the proximity to a few perfect beaches but also being out of the bigger cities. For exploring the island renting a car is useful, but not needed daily. Grin Car rental works directly with the resort and is a bit pricy but very convenient as they bring the car to you at Karma Minoan. The rooms are brightly whitewashed with simple but elegant furnishings mostly with Agean blue decor. Comfortable mattresses. A refreshing pool. Wonderful buffet breakfasts which are served until 11 am allowing for really only needing one other meal per day. The front desk was very helpful suggesting but not pushing tours. We found all of their recommendations to be worthwhile including an all day trip to Santorini and a guided tour of various archeological highlights , the Heraklion Museum and an olive oil factory

Hotel with a relaxed ambience and in a great location with far reaching views of the sea, other islands, coastline and mountains from our room. Good size room with separate lounge area and bedroom leading onto a balcony with sunbeds and table and chairs. Bathroom and shower a bit cramped but clean and functional. Very friendly, attentive and helpful staff, good selection of delicious food and drinks. Would definitely visit again.

We had a wonderful time -Aug 29- Sept3 2024- The place is gorgeous - the STAFF is the BEST anywhere! Manolis, Anna (both are reception/ concerige) , Maria(cleaning), Anna (bar/dining room) Stellios, Gorgois. So many fun things to do Greek night, spa, great restaurant also nearby: olive oil/wine tour, sunset catamaran tours, excellent dining on lake nearby, piano bar !

All I can say is that we, my wife and I, have one of the very best vacations that we have ever had. I had decided before leaving home to cut our stay at the Karma Minoan by three days, opting to spend those last three days in Athens from where we were departing to return to the States. When it came time to leave, I felt like crying for that decision. Athens was great, but I sincerely regret the decision, and I wish I had stayed on Crete and, of course, at the Minoan.
