Hotel Martino Spa and Resort
4/59 Reviews
Am greatly enjoying my stay in Costa Rica and here in lovely La Garita at the Martino Hotel. The hotel itself is quite special -- guests stay in separate tile-roofed buildings spread across the lush, green grounds. I imagine that the views from each room must be quite unique and special. It was so enjoyable sitting and reading on the deck outside my room watching the nearby bamboo forest sway in the gentle wind while listening to the fascinating calls of many species of birds perched in the many species of trees. Extra 5 stars and muchas gracias to the very helpful and friendly staff whose efficiency really impressed me (the hotel was hosting a conference when I stayed there in event space not far from my room, so I could witness first hand how hard the hotel team was working).
El Rodeo Estancia Boutique Hotel & Steakhouse
4.3/555 Reviews
This place is 10 minutes from the airport and is gated, guarded with traditional clean rooms and a fantastic steakhouse! Highly recommend to stay if you'd like a place near the San Jose airport. We didn't use the pool, but the lobby had a pool table and foosball. The receptionist also booked an airport shuttle for us for the next morning. Our expectations were fairly low, but I was pleasantly surprised! The horse and saddle decor were very cool for native Montanans.
Courtyard San Jose Airport Alajuela

With friendly and helpful staff, this hotel is sweet, easy to get to, and shuttle every half hour for domestic and international terminals. The food was pretty good - though breakfast is expensive. It would be nice if you could order ala carte.
Fairfield by Marriott San Jose Airport Alajuela

If you’re arriving late at San Jose Airport and have an early flight in the morning, I would without a doubt stay here again. The complementary shuttle service that runs every 30min is so convenient and the location is excellent with a Walmart right across the street for your last minute necessities. The staff is super friendly, the bed is comfy and the rooms are clean. The shower pressure is quite low though but apart from that there’s nothing I can think of. Taking into account the time of the year the room cost more than I wanted to spend, but given the overall convenience and experience all in all it was worth it and I’m looking forward to staying here again when I fly out from San José.
Hampton by Hilton San Jose Airport

We absolutely appreciated this hotel on our way in and our way out of the country. Clean, crisp, cool, and comfortable. The shuttle to the airport takes just a couple of minutes and is incredibly easy to use. The breakfast we plentiful and the coffee hot and fresh. There are a few places around to eat, but mostly we were here to sleep and shower in comfort and cleanliness.
Holiday Inn Express San Jose Costa Rica Airport

I appreciated that the room was spotlessly clean, with all sorts of amenities. The staff was very proactive and helpful, and the location right across from the airport was the main reason I chose it. The problem, though, is that our room (#135) had no window curtains to block out light. All it had was a flimsy screen that you could easily see through. I imagine anyone passing by the first floor room would have been able to see inside the room, because it was easy to see outside through the screen. At night-which comes very early in the tropics-the light from eight powerfully bright lights in the parking lot lit up our room. There was no way to darken the room, the light was so bright you could have read by it. None. Hence I got NO sleep because the room was lit up. Please, put up black out curtains.
