Having stayed at 4 Paradors this week, Lorca, Cuenca and siguenza, I was beginning to think that the Paradors had become just another dull hotel chain. Alcaniz changed that impression, brilliant staff who were really interested in their jobs and obviously very proud of what they were doing. Immaculate rooms, faultless service, marvellous food served with pride and panache. The parador itself is stunning, well designed, beautifully decorated and a delight to stay at. The loin of venison was the best I have ever tasted and I eat venison on a very regular basis. The breakfast contained all the normal parador stuff but it was served beautifully, the coffe was really hot, the eggs were excellent, not a greasy mess. Why oh why can’t all Paradors be like this, they used to be. What an excellent stay.

Wonderful interesting historic building. Great rooms with lots of character. Only a short walk from the old quarter. Lots of parking available.

Great place to visit. Our room was up to the normal Parador standard. We had a nice lunch and although the food was excellent the service was not. The waiters all looked very unhappy and were off-hand and officious. We were also given the wrong starter. Maybe they were unhappy at having to work during the town's fiesta but that is not an excuse for the level of service we received.

The bar staff were excellent and could not have been more helpful. The hotel is located in a good position providing stunning views of the local area.

The stunning location over the town of Alcaniz and history of the castle creates a magical setting for this Parador. Friendly and professional staff. While the room amenities were not new, our room was clean, well maintained and comfortable for a short stay. The restaurant was excellent, serving both local dishes and Spanish favorites and a good selection of Spanish wines. The value of the food and wine is amazing. Our waiter was knowledgeable, very professional, and gave us a great wine recommendation.We enjoyed the entire experience and cannot wait for our next visit to a Parador!

Room was ok, floor was a bit grubby. Its a stunning looking building. High up overlooking Alcaniz. Bar is beautiful. Its a bit of a steep walk down & back to the town. We stayed on a Saturday night & the bars were buzzing. Plenty of dining options.
