Just back from our Magha Poornima Maha Kumbh experience and we had a wonderful time there. Kumbh as we know is unlike any other typical visit. This Maha Kumbh as we know has seen unprecedented numbers and things are even more dynamic than ever before. Especially so through the main snan, poornima, Amavasya days/weekends. It is truly a miracle that we - a group of 50+ women and men - could do this with ease, all thanks to Kumbh village team. - Accomodation - We have to keep in mind that this tent city goes up from scratch and is not like usual hotels. The tents are spacious and well kept. They may not look ‘brand spanking new’ but linens etc are all clean. Running water etc. It was hot and fans were provided when requested. - The food is good and the team in the dining hall is very courteous and helpful. - The ghat behind is fairly close by and open to visit all times of the day. We loved our night full moon walk to the ghat one evening. Got to see ganga aarti too by.a small team of Pujaris. Some shallow parts can be kept cleaner but if you walk towards the deeper end the water is good. - Boatride and sangam dip on Maghi Poornima was unexpected and such a delightful surprise as we did not think it would be possible on this day. The experience of the walk to Arail Ghat depends on your fitness level - but honestly was not bad at all. We covered the distance without realizing - thanks to our well informed super guide Raj Dubey whose narration of the significance of this place and event kept us mesmerized. - Next day we even got to see the Akharas and attempted to get into the Hanumān temple. All this by exploring through the city by having 10 cars driving back to back. This takes much coordination- and again thanks to Raj Dubey’s work with all drivers and us that we were able to do this together. All in all, a blessed fulfilling visit. What we learned is the key thing to remember for such one of a kind and once in a lifetime kind of festivals is that nothing - literally nothing can be predicted! With the crowds that come in, everything changes by the minute. Patience and communication are key. The former we made sure to have :) and the latter the Kumbh village was phenomenal about. A special mention to Swati here who helped us put all this together and Varun who was managing the front reception and all guests non-stop! Kudos truly. Both were very responsive and most of all honest about what was possible and not. Which we appreciated very much. Any and all feedback was very well received. Last but not the least, even beyond what one maybe able to facilitate, experience or not - what shines through is intent. And the intent of Kumbh Village to provide their guests the best possible experience is clear and obvious. In addition, I can’t help but add - for all who may be heading there for this last part of Maha Kumbh - A mention and shout out to all our govt officials and each one in the organizational team for the stellar work b
