Hotels near Chill Out Bar, Alvor

Spotlessly clean hotel in every aspect. Very friendly staff from Management, reception, restaurant and cleaning. Our room was on the ground floor with a terrace, facing west with the sun in the afternoon. We were B&B for 11 nights and we were very happy with the options available to us for breakfast. There is no bar in the hotel, however, drinks are available during the day in the dining room. A new bar area is being constructed beside the small but adequate pool and this should add greatly to food/drink options. Hotel is a 3 minute walk to the beautiful beach. Only word of caution is that, at that point, the beach is accessed by way of steep steps, which makes it practically inaccessible for the very elderly or young families with buggies. An access point to the beach, for families etc., is available a 10/12 minute walk into town, along a fabulous cliff top walkway/cyclepath. Beach is excellent with boardwalk & sun beds for rent & lots of restaurants. We loved our stay in the Rochavau hotel

Modern, clean apartment with everything needed for a comfortable stay. We had daily cleaning of the apartment ”exchange of bath towels, cleaning of counters, floors and garbage collection. Some aspects that could improve, It has no magic wand, toaster, sponges and dishwashing liquid.

Having read some of the reviews, I’ve come to the conclusion that people want 5 star accommodation at 2/3 star prices. It really is as simple as that. I struggled to understand why this hotel was a 2 star; in my opinion a 3 would have been much more accurate and fair. The apartment I stayed in was the biggest I’ve ever had on holiday - two balconies, and three separate rooms (kitchen/dining space, bedroom and bathroom) - kitchens have clearly been refurbished recently - modern and with induction hobs. There’s a microwave, toaster and ample cooking utensils. I’ve seen some complaints about this in other reviews - the only thing I would say to that is that there were inconsistencies with the amount of plates, bowls etc in the cupboards. So feedback here would be to check the apartments regularly to re-stock any missing items. The TV is Smart, so you can access all the usual streaming platforms. Cleaning was every day and the staff were fantastic - always pleasant, knocked before entering and were happy to provide extra items like toilet roll if you asked them. The pool area is clean and the bar is cheap as regards drinks and snacks/simple meals. There’s a free bus twice a day to Praia De Rocha and Portamao and back if you want to go into the town centre or go to the beach. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to either and it’s perfectly do-able - failing that an Uber is about 5 Euro one way. The only reason - and it is the only reason - I am not giving 5 stars is that there is, regrettably, an issue with a villa located on the opposite side of the hotel entrance where dogs are left outside barking throughout the night. Reference has been made to this in other reviews. One particular night it was beyond intolerable and I managed less than 2 hours sleep. It was better on most other evenings - but I was still woken up at least twice a night by it. Earplugs did help, however. It’s a real shame for the hotel but I feel it’s only right to mention it, so don’t forget to pack yourself a pair!

Amazing hotel. Had the best time ever! The hotel bar was so good and such great service!

The room is rather spacious with bathroom equipped with a bidet and a small bath tub. There is AC, TV, but no fridge. There is wardrobe and safety box without a lock (not sure how it works). Rooms towards a yard have a balcony, but rooms towards the street has no balcony. The street is not really busy, but could be noisy sometimes. The walls do not have a good sound isolation, so ear plugs are recommended. The hotel has a very good roof-top terrace with chairs, sunbeds and a view. WiFi was stable and with a good speed. The staff at the reception is very friendly and speaks English. The cleaning service is also good. There is a breakfast available, but this is for an extra cost. The closest beach Praia da Batata is located 800m from the hotel. Meia Praia is in 1.5km on the other side of the river. The train station is located in 900m, the bus station is in 650 m. 1 km to the Lidl, the closest Pingo Doce is being re-innovated, another one in 1.3 km. Intermarche is in 1.3 km. The town market is just in 100m from the hotel. Excursion booths could be found along river bank and in Marina on the route to the train station. The are lots of restaurants nearby in the old town.

A highly recommended hotel! If you drive from Seville to Lisbon, you can stay here for one night! The town is beautiful. This hotel is perfect except for the room! The Michelin restaurant downstairs tastes good too! Especially breakfast, the breakfast is rich and exquisite! The breakfast has fried steak and lamb chops, and the taste is very good! Quiet, peaceful place but nothing available nearby except the excellent Quinta Dos Santos winery and restaurant - open 13.00 to 22.00. Our hotel room was clean and spacious and the staff really do try to do an excellent job. However the food is extremely disappointing and the only evening meal available is a buffet of mediocre, tasteless dishes. Two nights a week the restaurant is closed, one night Pizza is available and the other night Barbecue; if these are not to your taste you'll have to make do with bar snacks. It is mandatory to book a table for the evening restaurant but don't try and do this through reception, they will always tell you it is fully booked. However if you go to the restaurant personally most of the tables are free and you will be able to eat there. Apparently this is because a lot of ”all inclusive holidays” are booked there and so evening tables are prioritised for these people but most of them do not appear for dinner. Why reception is unaware of this none of the staff could explain. Apart from dining chairs at the Pool Bar and loungers round the pool there are no comfortable seats available. Certainly not one of the better places I have stayed in.

This is the email I have sent to the hotel manager on return to UK, I would stress that the apartments, complex, restaurant and staff are superb, but you can see what spoiled an expensive week for me . Dear Manager   I would like to thank you and all your staff for a lovely stay in your apartments. My husband and I stayed in apartment 211 from the 10th of September for 7 days. The apartment and complex are very pretty and always clean. The food in the restaurant is well priced and excellent quality. However, I would particularly like to thank all your staff from the maids to the receptionists and the restaurants and bar staff. They are all very helpful and very polite and are a credit to your apartments. We would like to thank Ines as she tried to deal with a slightly distressing problem. You may be aware that in the garden area outside room 211 there is an injured seagull. It cannot fly and was killing the smaller birds for food (which was not pleasant to see and hear – I couldn’t sit out on the balcony), it was also distressing to see the seagull struggle for food and water. Ines tried to get the relevant authority to come and collect the bird but they hadn’t turned up when we left. Of course, now with the terrible wildfires they will be even more stretched. I wanted to ask the management if they could look at this situation and try to resolve it , even if it means paying for a vet to attend and take of the seagull.
