Hotels near Church of Misericordia of Alvor, Alvor

Spotlessly clean hotel in every aspect. Very friendly staff from Management, reception, restaurant and cleaning. Our room was on the ground floor with a terrace, facing west with the sun in the afternoon. We were B&B for 11 nights and we were very happy with the options available to us for breakfast. There is no bar in the hotel, however, drinks are available during the day in the dining room. A new bar area is being constructed beside the small but adequate pool and this should add greatly to food/drink options. Hotel is a 3 minute walk to the beautiful beach. Only word of caution is that, at that point, the beach is accessed by way of steep steps, which makes it practically inaccessible for the very elderly or young families with buggies. An access point to the beach, for families etc., is available a 10/12 minute walk into town, along a fabulous cliff top walkway/cyclepath. Beach is excellent with boardwalk & sun beds for rent & lots of restaurants. We loved our stay in the Rochavau hotel

Modern, clean apartment with everything needed for a comfortable stay. We had daily cleaning of the apartment ”exchange of bath towels, cleaning of counters, floors and garbage collection. Some aspects that could improve, It has no magic wand, toaster, sponges and dishwashing liquid.

A truly great experience!! Room was comfortable and housekeeping excellent. Well placed with a view of the Marina. The highlight of each morning of my 5 night stay was the Breakfast. Fantastic choice and everything well cooked and presented. The staff, particularly the trainees, were always friendly and obliging. I couldn't fault anything about the Breakfast at all. The situation of the Hotel was ideal for me but might not suit everyone as it was sited out of the Town. A beautiful beach was adjacent to the Hotel and even out of season there were a variety of Restaurants nearby. All staff, the Receptionists, Restaurant staff and Housekeeping were outstanding, always greeted me with a smile and very helpful.

The room is rather spacious with bathroom equipped with a bidet and a small bath tub. There is AC, TV, but no fridge. There is wardrobe and safety box without a lock (not sure how it works). Rooms towards a yard have a balcony, but rooms towards the street has no balcony. The street is not really busy, but could be noisy sometimes. The walls do not have a good sound isolation, so ear plugs are recommended. The hotel has a very good roof-top terrace with chairs, sunbeds and a view. WiFi was stable and with a good speed. The staff at the reception is very friendly and speaks English. The cleaning service is also good. There is a breakfast available, but this is for an extra cost. The closest beach Praia da Batata is located 800m from the hotel. Meia Praia is in 1.5km on the other side of the river. The train station is located in 900m, the bus station is in 650 m. 1 km to the Lidl, the closest Pingo Doce is being re-innovated, another one in 1.3 km. Intermarche is in 1.3 km. The town market is just in 100m from the hotel. Excursion booths could be found along river bank and in Marina on the route to the train station. The are lots of restaurants nearby in the old town.

This is the email I have sent to the hotel manager on return to UK, I would stress that the apartments, complex, restaurant and staff are superb, but you can see what spoiled an expensive week for me . Dear Manager   I would like to thank you and all your staff for a lovely stay in your apartments. My husband and I stayed in apartment 211 from the 10th of September for 7 days. The apartment and complex are very pretty and always clean. The food in the restaurant is well priced and excellent quality. However, I would particularly like to thank all your staff from the maids to the receptionists and the restaurants and bar staff. They are all very helpful and very polite and are a credit to your apartments. We would like to thank Ines as she tried to deal with a slightly distressing problem. You may be aware that in the garden area outside room 211 there is an injured seagull. It cannot fly and was killing the smaller birds for food (which was not pleasant to see and hear – I couldn’t sit out on the balcony), it was also distressing to see the seagull struggle for food and water. Ines tried to get the relevant authority to come and collect the bird but they hadn’t turned up when we left. Of course, now with the terrible wildfires they will be even more stretched. I wanted to ask the management if they could look at this situation and try to resolve it , even if it means paying for a vet to attend and take of the seagull. We got a deal on this place so decided to take the gamble and go. We were not disappointed. We loved it. The place is in the middle of no where but that didn't bother us. There is a minibus service early morning and late afternoon but to be honest Uber is only 7 euros into the town. Fab pool area that wasn't crowded and loved the pool bar and eatery. The villa was up 3 flights of stairs but again that didn't bother us because the villa was massive and clean. The staff are also very nice and helpful. There are 2 or 3 bars a half a mile away and walking on an evening was a pleasure. We also walked to the beach which takes a good 30 minutes but we enjoyed the walk. There is a fantastic restaurant opposite the site gates and a fantastic restaurant on the beach, but beware, they are very expensive. You will struggle to keep a meal for 2 under 150 euros in either of them. The 2 or 3 bars nearby mainly do pizza and a pizza is circa 15 euros. This isolation of this place won't be for everyone, but we loved it and will be back.

This hotel is an amazing retreat! Surprisingly you can't hear the noise from the racing track just nearby. The staff is very nice and attentive. The location is great if you want to be in a quiet part of the Algarve (30 minutes from Portimão). The breakfast is great. It has variety and the products are fresh and high quality. The hotel has an amazing outdoor swimming pool, unfortunately the it was too windy and we were not able to enjoy it. The Jacuzzi and the indoor swimming pool are great too! The room is as in the pictures, it is big and the decoration is modern. Overall, we recommend this hotel if you want to enjoy a quiet retreat in the Algarve!

Excellent location. Very attentive, friendly and professional service. Spacious, well equipped and beautifully decorated rooms. Sensory SPA, it was a great and relaxing experience. Breakfast with several options to choose from and with a lot of quality. Great outdoor pools, one of them covered and heated for those colder days. Realy hard to get out of there! Activities organized by the resort, we chose a walk that was very worthwhile.
