This is our second stay here. Very clean, efficient and friendly reception personnel. Helpful with booking excursions. This hotel is in an excellent location above the Praia do Vau beach. The outdoor pool area is spacious with many loungers, although water is cool. The Nicola bar/restaurant adjacent to the pool is very comfortable with a great atmosphere serving snacks, drinks. Friendly staff. The indoor pool is exceptionally clean. You must wear a bathing cap. Also has a hot tub in the same area. There is a library with many books to chose from. Sections for different language books. We frequented the mini market most days buying fresh buns, Also has liquor and beer and most food items. Very convenient.

Spotlessly clean hotel in every aspect. Very friendly staff from Management, reception, restaurant and cleaning. Our room was on the ground floor with a terrace, facing west with the sun in the afternoon. We were B&B for 11 nights and we were very happy with the options available to us for breakfast. There is no bar in the hotel, however, drinks are available during the day in the dining room. A new bar area is being constructed beside the small but adequate pool and this should add greatly to food/drink options. Hotel is a 3 minute walk to the beautiful beach. Only word of caution is that, at that point, the beach is accessed by way of steep steps, which makes it practically inaccessible for the very elderly or young families with buggies. An access point to the beach, for families etc., is available a 10/12 minute walk into town, along a fabulous cliff top walkway/cyclepath. Beach is excellent with boardwalk & sun beds for rent & lots of restaurants. We loved our stay in the Rochavau hotel

Having read some of the reviews, I’ve come to the conclusion that people want 5 star accommodation at 2/3 star prices. It really is as simple as that. I struggled to understand why this hotel was a 2 star; in my opinion a 3 would have been much more accurate and fair. The apartment I stayed in was the biggest I’ve ever had on holiday - two balconies, and three separate rooms (kitchen/dining space, bedroom and bathroom) - kitchens have clearly been refurbished recently - modern and with induction hobs. There’s a microwave, toaster and ample cooking utensils. I’ve seen some complaints about this in other reviews - the only thing I would say to that is that there were inconsistencies with the amount of plates, bowls etc in the cupboards. So feedback here would be to check the apartments regularly to re-stock any missing items. The TV is Smart, so you can access all the usual streaming platforms. Cleaning was every day and the staff were fantastic - always pleasant, knocked before entering and were happy to provide extra items like toilet roll if you asked them. The pool area is clean and the bar is cheap as regards drinks and snacks/simple meals. There’s a free bus twice a day to Praia De Rocha and Portamao and back if you want to go into the town centre or go to the beach. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to either and it’s perfectly do-able - failing that an Uber is about 5 Euro one way. The only reason - and it is the only reason - I am not giving 5 stars is that there is, regrettably, an issue with a villa located on the opposite side of the hotel entrance where dogs are left outside barking throughout the night. Reference has been made to this in other reviews. One particular night it was beyond intolerable and I managed less than 2 hours sleep. It was better on most other evenings - but I was still woken up at least twice a night by it. Earplugs did help, however. It’s a real shame for the hotel but I feel it’s only right to mention it, so don’t forget to pack yourself a pair!

A truly great experience!! Room was comfortable and housekeeping excellent. Well placed with a view of the Marina. The highlight of each morning of my 5 night stay was the Breakfast. Fantastic choice and everything well cooked and presented. The staff, particularly the trainees, were always friendly and obliging. I couldn't fault anything about the Breakfast at all. The situation of the Hotel was ideal for me but might not suit everyone as it was sited out of the Town. A beautiful beach was adjacent to the Hotel and even out of season there were a variety of Restaurants nearby. All staff, the Receptionists, Restaurant staff and Housekeeping were outstanding, always greeted me with a smile and very helpful.

Great stay, nice staff! Walkable to gorgeous beaches and the town of Portimaõ. Comfy beds, clean apartments. Could do with a bit more shelving in the bathroom (even a small chair under the sink would do) and some hooks here and there, but otherwise perfect.

Overall it was a good experience. The bedroom with bathroom includes a living room and a small kitchen. Access conditions to the SPA could be better, as we have to walk more than half the way along the street no matter which route we take, which becomes cold and unpleasant, perhaps covering the sides of the corridors and the passage on one side of the hotel for the other was a good option. The same happens when going to the restaurant. Many children in the pool and jacuzzi, jumping into the pool and running around the pool, which makes the space not very pleasant to use. Breakfast is good, lots of bread, sweets, pastries and a coffee machine. However, for a 4* star hotel, there is little variety of fruit, there is no smoked salmon, avocado, or options for people with celiac disease, lactose-free milk only on request. Very friendly staff and excellent cleaning!

A highly recommended hotel! If you drive from Seville to Lisbon, you can stay here for one night! The town is beautiful. This hotel is perfect except for the room! The Michelin restaurant downstairs tastes good too! Especially breakfast, the breakfast is rich and exquisite! The breakfast has fried steak and lamb chops, and the taste is very good! This is the email I have sent to the hotel manager on return to UK, I would stress that the apartments, complex, restaurant and staff are superb, but you can see what spoiled an expensive week for me . Dear Manager   I would like to thank you and all your staff for a lovely stay in your apartments. My husband and I stayed in apartment 211 from the 10th of September for 7 days. The apartment and complex are very pretty and always clean. The food in the restaurant is well priced and excellent quality. However, I would particularly like to thank all your staff from the maids to the receptionists and the restaurants and bar staff. They are all very helpful and very polite and are a credit to your apartments. We would like to thank Ines as she tried to deal with a slightly distressing problem. You may be aware that in the garden area outside room 211 there is an injured seagull. It cannot fly and was killing the smaller birds for food (which was not pleasant to see and hear – I couldn’t sit out on the balcony), it was also distressing to see the seagull struggle for food and water. Ines tried to get the relevant authority to come and collect the bird but they hadn’t turned up when we left. Of course, now with the terrible wildfires they will be even more stretched. I wanted to ask the management if they could look at this situation and try to resolve it , even if it means paying for a vet to attend and take of the seagull. This hotel is an amazing retreat! Surprisingly you can't hear the noise from the racing track just nearby. The staff is very nice and attentive. The location is great if you want to be in a quiet part of the Algarve (30 minutes from Portimão). The breakfast is great. It has variety and the products are fresh and high quality. The hotel has an amazing outdoor swimming pool, unfortunately the it was too windy and we were not able to enjoy it. The Jacuzzi and the indoor swimming pool are great too! The room is as in the pictures, it is big and the decoration is modern. Overall, we recommend this hotel if you want to enjoy a quiet retreat in the Algarve!
