Everything needed for an overnight stay with a lovely cooked breakfast in the morning. No complaints!

I was an evening guest of a wedding taking place at the hotel. The wedding reception itself was lovely. However, I checked into my room at 4, when entering my room it had not been cleaned, from the previous guest. Bed had been slept in, stains all over the sheets, shower dirty, sink had toothpaste and discarded packets everywhere. I contacted reception who apologised and initially told me I would need to move to the sister hotel. Being on my own that evening, I wanted to be on site. I was asked to wait at the bar, I asked if they would provide a drink whilst I waited and I was told they will provide a bottle for the room. Over an hour had passed and I had to go and check if the room was ready, even though I provided my number and I was sat waiting in the bar as advised. No bottle was ever provided and on check out when I complained, there was no option of being offered any money back. Breakfast was very disappointing, no option of how you would like eggs cooked, everything was over cooked, but still not warm. It’s a real shame as the hotel is very pretty and in a great location.

Old Amersham is very quaint village and buildings refleck this. Lots of nooks & crannies, low ceilings, beams everywhere unlevel floors made this a very memorable stay. Bedroom was a mix of very old like room with 4 posterbed & decor & modern bathroom, only 1 thing maybe I would have preferred was frosed glass on shower cubicle rather than clear as it was an 'open' bathroom.

This place is excuisit, didn’t realise how quaint it was when we booked. Room was modern and well equipped. Had snacks and drinks in the evening and an amazing breakfast. Found a finger nail and a long dark hair in the room that wasn’t ours but other than that was clean.

Really friendly check in - quick and simple. When we arrived the car park was full but there is unrestricted parking on the main street outside. We stayed in a suite (303) which was located adjacent to the car park and very close to the outside drinking area (less than 10 metres away). The suite was in keeping with the age of the building. The bathroom facilities were on the ground floor followed by a set of steep(ish) stairs to the bedroom area. The floor height varied by a good few inches and it took us a few trips (literally) before we got used to the bump in the floor where it's carpeted over the beams. Whilst this amused us as to how clumsy we were, as this is at the top of the stairs, this could be a bit of a hazard. The room came with a Nespresso coffee machine (which pleased my husband) along with a complimentary half bottle of wine, crisps and chocolate raisins (which pleased me). It might have been handy to have some kind of night light as one switch does both upstairs and downstairs lights. This meant we had to leave the bathroom mirror light on all night so that we could get up and down the stairs safely without waking each other up. The bar area is clean and bright with plenty of tables with a typical beer choice. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Our main issue was with noise. The venue is used for weddings with a chapel at the rear of the car park and we had a stream of people in the early hours that prevented us from sleeping until after 2am. We understand people are celebrating in a large group but the noise was far from ideal at that time of night when you are trying to sleep after a long day. This was followed up at 5.20am with staff talking and moving furniture in the outside drinking area and then by guests dragging their suitcases through the gravel car park from 7am. So all in all - a far from perfect night's sleep. Check out was quick - there was no-one on reception when we left. Overall if there hadn’t been been a wedding on this review may have been very different but this is a fair review based on our experience on a Saturday night.

We stayed at the Kings Arms to attend a family event. The hotel is quirky and has so much character. On-site parking was very handy. Staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble, and very professional. Hotel room had everything we needed, excellent air con! We stayed for two nights and had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. Food was wonderful. Best chicken burger I’ve eaten. Breakfast equally as good with lots of choice. If I had one negative and it’s a very minor one, there was no where to pop your shower accessories in the actual shower, so a small shelf in the shower would be beneficial but as I say that’s a very minor things. We loved our stay and would love to return.
