Great place to stay and play. Rather strange approach for 10 miles before reaching resort, very much in the "outback" (you think you are lost) with rather a dodgy road. Arrived to a very large complex with hundreds of villas and apartment. Checked in at Hotel and escorted to our Beachfront apartment. Clean, modern equipment. Amazing location just above the swimming pool and view over the sea - stunning. You need a car even a three minutes drive to a full Breakfast every morning, all included. Arrangements at Golf Courses first class, clean buggies, lovely clubhouses with good lunch food at reasonable prices. We have played a lot of good courses these (Praia del rey, West Cliffs and Royal Obidos) were first class. Very challenging for handicaps 10 - 16, mostly on the coast, stunning views and in good condition, greens very good. Overall an excellent experience for 4 golfers in a 2 bed apartment and cheaper than the Algarve and not as busy. You need a car to nearby restuarants (most are generally very Portugese mainly in Peneche). Had a day in Lisbon - beutiful city (recommended).Overall highly recommened.

Resort seems to be run on a hard BUDGET Mark up on wine seems to be about 8X, ouch Tennis facility is a joke, yet they still advertise it, even stating it’s futbol pitch, for those who visit, take your kids for a game of futbol there and let us know what your think.

We had a very spacious apartment with a very large terrace. Just a few steps from a great beach. A car is necessary because the complex is remote and in February the restaurant and supermarket are still closed. Due to the weather, there are some rust spots on the heaters and garden chairs, but that is inevitable. In February there were perfect price offers that were more than fair

Mixed reviews. The hotel was disorganised especially for the shuttle services to get our large group of players from the accommodation to the hotel for breakfast we had to rush our breakfasts to get our shuttles to the courses very poor and unprofessional service there. The golf itself was amazing the staff and quality of the courses at preya, obidos and West cliffs were really top class. It's just ashame about the disorganised chaos from the hotel which tarnished what was overall a fantastic break. So I'd recommend the courses to play for sure and a heads up for possible chaos and unprofessional part for shuttle services. We weren't the only ones affected by this.

My husband and I stayed in a 1 bedroom Villa at Praia del Rey Village. Our Villa was about a 5 min. walk from the golf clubhouse. The clubhouse offers pizza, burgers, pasta, salad and drinks in an easygoing dining space. Prices are fair. The Villa was about 1/2 mile from the Marriott Hotel. The food at the hotel is priced higher. Dinner is buffet only. The Villa was of generous size. The kitchen was full size. The dishwasher and clothes washer were of high quality. There was no tumble clothes dryer. The rooms were sparsely furnished. There were no chests of drawers for your clothing. There were no televisions in the bedrooms. The living room rug and furniture needed shampooing. Parking is quite a distance away from your Villa. Off the grounds of the Golf and Beach Resort it is about 1/2 hour away from alternative restaurants. A full size supermarket is 1/2 hour away. The Golf and Beach Resort is a good base for driving to noted Portugal towns and cities. From the property it is only 15 minutes to the major highway that leads to all important tourist spots ( Coimbra, Aveiro, Peniche, Nazare, Caldas da Ranha, etc)

We stayed as a party of 28 golfers from Friday 7th October to Tuesday11th most in 3bed apt and one group in a 2bed. The apt were very spacious having a good size kitchen and living room as you enter with a balcony with wonderful views overlooking the beach and ocean All rooms had there own bathrooms with the downstairs room being the largest with a bath and shower combined and also a balcony. Only downside of the 3bed apartments we had confirmed all twin beds in each room this was not the case and after some discussions they agreed to put another single bed in 3 of our apts at first with an extra charge then this was later rescinded. There was room cleaning on the second day to replenish towel and toiletries and the beds were comfortable. We were right next to the supermarket where we could get our supplies of food and drink. Also next to this was the Mare Restaurant where we expected to have breakfast before playing golf unfortunately this had been closed meaning we had to organize the shuttle buses to take us to the clubhouse restaurant about a 1.4miles away for breakfast then again to get to golf. Not sure who is responsible for the shuttle buses either the Marriott hotel themselves or the resort management that are responsible for the apartments as this was a complete shambles which caused untold stress to anyone staying at the beachfront and village trying to get down firstly to breakfast as only 1 driver turned up after the prearranged 07.30am pickup time mostly late and over 48 golfers waiting forced us to walk and carry our clubs otherwise as they only carry 8 persons we would not make our tee times. At the busiest time of the year they compound the already inadequate amount of Shuttle buses by closing the Mare restaurant forcing everyone to the clubhouse. It happened both day and evening with no help from the resort staff except to say we should complain to the director as he is responsible for the shuttle bus company. Whoever is responsible for shuttle buses be the Hotel Management or the resort Management have ruined what should have been a memorable stay into a chaotic frenzy of unneeded stress with their inconsiderate actions. If we had known the restaurant was closed and the shuttle bus service was deplorable, we would have stayed in the hotel itself and got our travel agent to organize private shuttles or took our custom elsewhere where it would be appreciated

We were a golfing party of 28 playing last week Staying from Friday to Tuesday at the 5*Beachfront apartments playing the 3 courses Royal Obidos, Praia del Rey and West Cliffs. Firstly, we were promised all rooms would be Twins on arrival told some had double beds showed emails confirming Twin rooms told was never going to be. Got them to put an extra single bed in each room they agreed but said i would be charged after another exchange they agreed not to charge. Bed was a camp bed, so guys choose to sleep on settee. We didn't know about the tourist task 1euro per day per person stay another 112 euros but hey ho our travel agency should have known and told us so. Also told the Mare restaurant up by our Apartments were shut this was a shock as we were to have our breakfast there. Told need come down to clubhouse. Big mistake as resort was full of golfers staying at the beachfront needing shuttles to clubhouse for breakfast then to respective golf courses. Shuttles only carry 8 persons and when enquired only 3no shuttles as the fourth is for staff. Only seen one driver every morning trying to shuttle not just us but other groups to the clubhouse overall we counted just at 07.30am 48 golfers promised a shuttle we all had booked. A complete mess then at the clubhouse too many people for the staff to cope with food was going too fast for them to keep up and it was basic 3* at best. Everyone rushing as we all needed to get to golf courses. Every day trying to arrange transport was told yes it will be there never happened next day even worse shuttle late turned up 07.45 other group needed it as teeing off at 08.00am so as we were teeing off at 09.00 16 of us decided to carry our clubs and walk to clubhouse took 30 minutes up and down hilly roads still got there before others and a group of 16 from Sweden were supposed to be at Royal Obidos for 09.00am were still waiting at 08.30am. All you got when when enquiring was the shuttles are a sub-contractor and we should email the resort director and complain. Same issues when trying to get back to Apartments in the evening too many wanting the shuttles so needed to walk back. Trying to go outside was a chore as all taxis booked need wait till after 21.00pm even though we booked one for 19.30pm tried Uber again Non available got out 1 night only as a group decided it was too late when taxi arrived, so we took it. Most ended up in the resort hotel bars. Every day same not enough shuttles breakfast was grab and go not enough time to relax just too stressful. Whoever decided to close the restaurant didn't account for the volume of guest needing to shuttle down to the clubhouse as no extra shuttles put on to allow for their busiest time. added pressure put on the staff you could see by their demeaner that they were struggling to cope. The management should realize what their bad decisions have done to the reputation of the resort and how uncaringly they treat their guests. They have turned what should have been

I’d played golf at Praia D’el Rey golf a number of times before but hadn’t stayed here before. As great as the golf courses are here I wouldn’t stay in the village again and was also very disappointed with the shuttle service provided by the resort! Villa: although a first sight it appeared clean it became apparent that the place was damp and had a stale musky smell throughout our stay despite opening windows etc to try a freshen up the place. Shuttle service: The resort appears to have a large number of vans and the service from the villa to the golf courses, reception and hotel was spot on the return journeys were beyond bad!! After our round at Royal Obidos I called the resort reception to ask for a shuttle bus back to our villa (a 10-15 trip) I was told the resort didn’t provide a return service and that the course would provide a shuttle! The course has one minibus which at the time was ferrying a group of 28 back to their villas so we had around a 1 1/2 hour wait to get back! Similar situation happened for the return from West Cliffs. The poor girl at the course reception was having to apologise to everyone because they only have 1 bus and despite trying to get support from the resort shuttle service they weren’t prepared to help! In summary I would strongly recommend playing the golf courses here but find yourself somewhere else to stay!

This was our first trip to this resort. We stayed in a villa near the Club house. The resort in general is dated and depressing. Our villa was awful, not at all in keeping with the pictures that were advertised on their official webpage. The worst part was the huge volumes of flies INSIDE the villa. Flies were landing on top of you in every room. To quote my 10 year old son " Mum the flies are constantly landing on me and mating ". They were everywhere. They were on every item in the kitchen and bathroom and living room such that we had to lock everything away. Cooking food was a nightmare and eating it was worse. It was so bad we had to check in to the Marriott hotel after 4 days ( thank God we could afford to ). When we complained we were told that there was a KNOWN fly issue and the local council were involved however we were not made aware of any of this at booking or arrival and there were no fly deterrents in the villa - not even a spray. The villa was in general very old, dated and the kitchen appliances were not robust and the oven was missing buttons. We had paid the full amount at check in for 10 days and after complaining and having left the property we received one night's refund. The reception staff were rude, insolent and inexperienced. I hope no other family would have to endure this awful experience. BEWARE!!!!
