My sister and I needed a good getaway. As such, we chose to visit Malta and we stayed at Ibis Styles St Paul Bay Malta. Our experience was amazing. The staff members were very welcoming and humble. We felt elated with the service and we want to thank everyone who took good care of us. Thank you to Sladaha, Andrea, Mehdi, Samir and everyone else. My wife and I have just returned from spending 2 weeks at this hotel . I'm trying to find words that describe what is good about it. I've just realised which words i'm looking for......ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. We have travelled to numerous countries over the past 40-50 years and stayed in many many hotels but our experience at this hotel surpasses them all. The staff at reception, Marine, Maja and their colleagues were always most helpful when asked for information or sorting a small problem. The staff in the dining room, Subina and Nikesh in particular were most friendly and helpful and together with their colleagues helped make dining there a complete pleasure. The food choice was amazing, both the buffet breakfast and the a la carte evening meal. The room (and particular the bed) was massive with all the amenities you needed. We would definitly recommend this hotel to anybody who wanted a stressless stay in Malta.

The hotel is in a good location. There is a small shopping mall opposite and there are shops below. It may be inconvenient if you have a lot of large luggage, because the vehicle cannot drive directly to the hotel gate. You need to get off the car on the hillside and walk in with your luggage. There is no service staff at the intersection to greet those who take the luggage. The front desk staff and restaurant service staff are very enthusiastic. The room decoration is relatively new, but the quality is average. The building next door is currently under construction. When getting a room, it is best to tell the front desk staff that you request a room further away.

We arrived to find that we did not have a room. We were staying for 2 weeks as we were getting married. Easy jet had cancelled our flight from Gatwick. I informed the hotel of our change of date which I had on my phone. Can you imagine how we felt? We also had 8 rooms booked for family. After half an hour of total stressed they found our booking under Kevin Kevin!! The hotel receptionist was going to provide some Prosecco and was also asked to book 3 taxis for my self and bridesmaids on Saturday 1st October, I asked several times if he had done this he assured me that everything was booked and not to worry. Saturday came no taxis and no Prosecco. Had to book ourselves, meaning we were late for my wedding. The hotel itself is dirty, I found dried blood and holes on supposedly clean sheets, mattress was threadbear. The rooms were swept once in the time we spent here. New staff are always being trained, obviously they don’t keep them very long. The showers are small dirty and bathroom tiny. Hardly any storage facilities. You have to pay to hire a fridge. There are no facilities to iron clothes and the hairdryer smells of burning when you use. The air conditioner in the room causes everyone to have sore throats. There are no disability facilities, the stairs are narrow, there is one lift that is very small. I seriously would advise that you do not stay at this hotel

Excellent property with great location, extremely clean and comfortable, super friendly staff. Teo was extraordinary! He was a true example of excellent hospitality. He made our trip more exciting in Malta by guiding and giving us tips about the city and the attractions to cover in 72 hours. He made sure that everything was arranged for us accordingly. I couldn't thank him enough for the excellent level of service he had rendered. We will surely visit H Hotel on our next holiday and expect that will recommend your hotel to our family and friends.

Starting with the information - we stayed at So City as a young couple (who arent particularly into nightclubs/bars) to see Matla for the first time over a week. I have given this a 'benefit-of-the-doubt' rating due to the hotel being incredibly new. We picked So City Hotel because of the value, it was incredibly well priced. I'd imagine this is a strategy due to it being so new but it was certainly well worth the price we paid. On to the hotel as a whole - I feel this is definitely aimed toward capturing people coming to Malta for some night life. Its positioned so that no more than 10 seconds from leaving the lobby, you can be in a bar, and their are some nice bars surrounding. That said, we werent there for that - but this location also meant that finding an evening meal, or a quick early night drink was incredibly easy. Exploring the island was also very easy from here, Valletta was a very short journey, and as we had opted to rent a car, there was a carpark about 5 minutes walk away (Pengardens) which is reasonably priced for over night parking, and we never struggled for a space. The room was very comfortable, and the mattress was perfect and bedding very soft and comfortable. Our upgraded room was also incredibly spacious. The theming is a nice touch and makes the room a bit more characterful and individual. Staying on the 7th floor, there was minimal noise at night, altough id be concerned if we needed to keep the window open.... The black out curtains were also amazing for keep the room dark for a little bit of extra sleep. Constructive criticism for the room would be: The shower tempurture is difficult - the hottest setting is insanely hot (my other half loves hot showers but this was too much for her also) and it wouldnt go cold, just cooler, it also seemed to get colder through out the shower and you found yourself adjusting. There is not a lot of storage at all for longer stays. This is perhaps a by product of it feeling aimed towards 'nightlifers' who might stop 3 nights or so. I would perhaps ask reception for additional hangers if you have plenty of clothes for a longer stay. The mini fridge, altough useful, is not big enough to put larger water bottles in, which can be annoying. The aircon unit is situated in a place which means it blows directly at the bed. I tried to play with the control but there was no way to adjust it that I could find. Im trying to cool the room, not refridgerate myself. The timer on the aircon also didnt seem to work, so setting it the blow for 30 mins whilst i went to sleep just didnt seem to work. The TV is not a full smartTV which is a shame. Just channels and an internet browser, which are never nice to navigate around.... On to other notes: Breakfast is just what you need. Its not an all out buffett where there is everything you could dream of, but there is more than enough and a few items cycle so you can expect a slightly different breakfast each morning. Our stay at Hotel Onyx in San Julian, Malta was simply wonderful. Since our arrival, we have been welcomed with exceptional warmth and helpfulness by the staff, always ready to satisfy our every need with professionalism and courtesy. The cleanliness of the hotel is impeccable, with rooms always tidy and perfectly sanitized, a detail that we greatly appreciated and which made our stay even more pleasant and relaxing. The breakfast deserves a full 10: rich, varied and of high quality, it is the perfect way to start the day. Every morning we were delighted by a wide choice of fresh and tasty products that fully met our expectations. When we return to Malta, Hotel Onyx will undoubtedly be our point of reference. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a stay of comfort, cleanliness and excellent hospitality.

Returned 2 weeks ago after a wonderful week saying at The Palace Hotel. It took a long time to decide where to stay in Malta given the enormous choice and yet very mixed reviews, however I was really pleased we settled on The Palace. I did 1 less star for 'value', but this wasn't just in relation to The Palace as I thought generally hotel's in Malta were definitely on the pricier side. The room was lovely with the biggest bed I’ve ever seen and we had some lovely touches such as a daily visit from hospitality asking if we needed anything, and a bottle of filtered water changed daily. An excellent idea and far better than the frequent plastic bottles and subsequent waste. We also arrived on my husband’s birthday and quite unexpectedly in the evening, a lovely birthday cake was delivered to our room! From our initial greeting at reception with a lovely local drink and onwards, we had a brilliant service from every single member of staff. They were all very helpful and yet not intrusive. In particular lovely Puja in the wonderful TemptAsian’ restaurant, and Dhilip who served us both by the pool and at the ground floor Talk of the Town restaurant. Both were extremely knowledgeable and gave sound advice regarding choice of meals and suitable local wines. As we like to try local restaurants when we go away, we chose the bed and breakfast option however we were so impressed with the lovely rooftop TemptAsian restaurant we ate there twice. We then went for the buffet in the Talk of the Town restaurant on our last night, where we again had an excellent service from Dhilip, and where the food was well presented and excellent value for money. Sliema is a busy place with lots of hotels, and as other reviewers have stated, The Palace was within the centre of the peninsula, so although it wasn’t in the most picturesque road, given its proximity to all public transport, the ferry and bus stops including the ‘hop on/off’, we felt there was no necessity to hire a car. We did the short ferry over to Valletta many times and a bonus for us was a considerable ‘over 60’ concession. We managed to cram a lot in during our week in Malta from the numerous museums, tombs, caves and other historical places, in addition to exploration of the island on both the north and south hop on/off buses and brief trip to Gozo. I’m not sure we could not have done quite so much had we not been in such an ideal location. The other bonus was on the days we were back in time, having a swim in the gorgeous rooftop pool, and the Happy hour cocktails between 3 and 5 pm. Highly recommend this as a wonderful place to stay in Malta.

An enjoyable weekend break at Solana. The place is well positioned in the center of Mellieha to explore the town, v. nice view from the rooftop (attached a pic) that they also highlight as instagram-worthy. I rated the location 4/5 because of the relatively minor difficulty to find close-by parking as you need to be careful due to limited hours, but I learnt after that the hotel offers limited parking spots against payment. Cleanliness and service both rated an excellent 5/5. The facilities were good, again they didn't merit a 5/5 only because of a couple of small issues: you can experience a relatively long wait for the 2 lifts (used by guests and staff) at peak times since the hotel consists of two connected buildings, the gym needs a spruce-up as the multi-use machine needs a good oiling and the treadmill's arm cushions easily came unstuck, and the rooftop pool water was slightly murky on Sat afternoon and Sun morning. Other than our studio apartment was a comfortable fit for a family of 4, that included a well-equipped kitchenette that we used on the second night when the kids fancied an evening in after a long day. And nice to see once again the old-school complimentary sewing needle and thread, as well as a good sized bathtub. Tea and coffee freebies were present in abundance in the room. Breakfast was delicious and they certainly got the bacon, sausages, eggs, pastry and yogurt right. All in all, a well-priced worthy consideration if you're staying in Mellieha.

We stayed on the older side of the hotel. Room smelt of damp and when we complained they came in and bleached the floors nothing else. There was only one socket in the room which kept crackling. The breakfast was average but we went up the road to Debbie’s Cafe which was great. The pool upstairs was good with nice views but the drinks were overly priced. We had a couples massage “Back, shoulders and neck”. My other half only had his neck massaged. I had all parts it felt good but later that day I experienced some horrific neck pain and felt as though a muscle had twinged. Not worth the price we paid. We went to the Thai Fusion restaurant the views were great but I wasn’t over impressed with my dish to start as is was a red curry in soup water, thankfully they took it back and the taste wasn’t so bad. Again felt it was over priced for what it was. Over all hotel was okay, but the services within were very overly priced. I also think had our room been on the renovated side we would of been more positive on our review as our room was outdated and stunk of damp.
