San Luis Bay Inn

Location is amazing. On a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The 1BR unit is spacious, with a full kitchen and balcony. And the staff are top notch.

Everything was great, from the staff service, to our designated room. It would be great if we could get a room where we can see the entire Avila Beach from our balcony.

I enjoyed my friend weekend! The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The location was beautiful. Nice and walkable to Avila Beach shops and restaurants. The ocean views from the outside sitting areas breathtaking. Short drive to Pismo and SLO. Great place to stay and relax.

Our room had a noisy ceiling fan needed to be replaced and a reading light over our bed that was out and needed to be replaced. I feel things like this should have been checked and reparied by hotel staff. I also feel a cross walk is needed between the hotel and the side of the road the beach, shopsn and resturants are on. Guess who walk must crross a road where traffic is traveling 55+ mph without a crosswalk. The resort could also benefit from some type of food service -- a least breakfast.

We’ve stayed there before during the previous owners, it’s still a great place to stay

We arrived after the 4ppm check in time and had to wait 45 minutes for our room to be reach.

After a grueling journey from Boston involving a delayed flight and lots of traffic on the roads from LAX, we wanted to unwind and enjoy a slice of heaven by a CA beach. I think our experience would've been a lot different if we had time to enjoy the many facilities this resort offers but for a school tour, particularly one as remote as Cal Poly, you need to get a vibe of the town and surrounds and we only had time to hang out in SLO for an hour after dinner. It's about a 15 minute drive from the hotel. Staff were all very nice and helpful but the club is expensive (approx. $330 for a night) for what we needed. Rooms and decor are tired albeit huge with full kitchen and walk in closet. Remember to go buy some food for breakfast - I am not sure if there was a restaurant serving breakfast. It is great if you are a couple to sleep in a King as most hotels are Queens or Doubles which are tough for us and the sofa bed was comfortable for our 17 year old so we had a good night's sleep after our wretched journey. The weather is much cooler here than in further south in LA and so remember your fleeces and light jackets. On reflection, we would've done a lot better by staying in SLO itself to be nearer the campus and to get a feel of the town although if you visit in the summer, remember that half the population of SLO is comprised of students so summers will be atypical.
