Great location, Lovely room comfortable bed had a great night sleep . , I fully enjoyed the health spa. Swim sauna and steam room. Check out the Santana restaurant
Buffet lunch all home made food , delicious !
Overall it was a lovely stay, a peaceful retreat just what I needed from the hustle and bustle ( Lobdon ) from the city life .

For a young couple and the place it is, we didn't think it was a very good hotel 🙂

The experience, quite good. They should improve the breakfasts, they are very poor. I've been in previous years, and it was something else.
The prices did change, but not the quantity and quality.
The wall in the room is very dirty. I wanted a coat of paint. Little maintenance

Despite being a resort with a SPA, we expected more. The rooms are very large but it is far from all services.

The hotel is shabby and understaffed. Our room with River view had a terrace surrounded by a 5 feet high wall which blocked the view..we were moved to a better room. The food in the restaurant is terrible, breakfast is ok but the same day after day no variety. The bar was completely unmanned, we asked reception who said he's gone for his dinner , he has to eat! When he returned he had no diet coke.Next evening only one barman who was unable to cope with more than one customer so lots of waiting to be served. Staff in the restaurant very pleasant but most staff are unhelpful except for one lady who arranged for us to move to a better room. I would not recommend this hotel until there is major investment in a refit and staff levels are increased.

Bad things: The hotel should be pet friendly, since nowadays it is very common that people travel with dogs. I find absolutely unnecessary to use cap in the pool, and the hotel makes it mandatory (and charges 10 Euro for it, in case you don´t own one). Great things: We had an amazing time. The bed is very big and comfy, the shower is great and the room very spacious. Breakfast is very good, even lactose free options. We had 2 dinners at the hotel restaurant, in a huge group, and we had a great time. Last, but not least, the support I got for my wedding was fantastic. They provided me a huge conference from for me, my family and friends to get ready, walked with the staff I hired until the place and brought me everything I needed very fast, kindly and efficiently! Thank you very much!!

We were walking the Camino & booked in here for a nice rest. On arrival there was a problem with our booking & the receptionist was less than helpful. It’s quite a hilly climb walking with a backpack & this is the last thing we needed. Went to explore the spa - very busy. The bar is closed Tuesday & Wednesday - staff days off!! The breakfast is an extra €12.50 per person, really not worth it. Cold scrambled egg & bacon, cheap wafer thin meat. The cold fruit was nice & ripe. On the plus side the beds are super comfortable.

Santana Hotel & Spa is in reality a trap for the guest. Because of the lack of maintenance of the hotel AN IRON BAR FELL INTO MY FACE AND HURTED ME. I asked for the reeibursement of one night and Santana hotel offered instead a discount for the eventuality of me comming back. I do not live in Portugal and would not return to the hotel exactly due to the events and the hotel's refusal to recover its lack of care and respect for the guest who suffered an accident on its premises thanks to the lack of maintenance through a refund of the night, which would be what any establishment that cares for its image, reputation and guests would do. Also, during the heat wave that was taking over Portugal, THERE WAS NO AIR CONDITINING ON MY ROOM and I lost my night and my day of work. The hotel refused to reimburse my night.

This hotel is in an ok location and the staff is friendly. We were in room 3117 and it smelled terrible in the hallway. It smelled like dampness and sewage. The room did not have a clothing iron and an ironing board. The carpet was full of stains and smelled bad. The washroom had no electrical plugs. The hallways had glass walls and it looked disgusting. This hotel needs a lot of maintenance and renovations. I have been at 2 stars in Portugal better then this hotel. This hotel is a 4 star hotel but it's definitely not. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

All the signs of a hotel in it's death throes. The whole place is very tired, the room furniture is almost antique - and not in a good way. The carpet was truly awful. Not the best location, either, at the top of a steep hill - doesn't encourage a stroll into town for dinner when you have to climb back up afterwards because there are no taxis in a town also in major decline. There was a menu in my room for the restaurant and it looked OK, so I ventured in one evening only to find that the menu had been replaced with a self-service buffet. It was just about OK, but I didn't venture back on subsequent evenings. I opted to climb the hill instead. Surprisingly, the breakfasts were great - strange, that. The town's beaches are, however, fantastic and will save the town from terminal decline.

Pillows not great. Food not good and repetitive, plates, cutlery, salted glasses Lunch 1 machine running when there were more than 50 of us Cold milk, uncooked industrial bread, frozen desserts so they heat them to melt. A nauseating smell of sewage wakes you up in the rooms and in the colors. Friendly staff, clean rooms

Second and last time. First day, no possibility of drinking coffee. Bar always closed, room service with no choice ("a lot of people came this week and everything was gone, all you could do was make a tuna sandwich" in short, regrettable. Reasonable facilities, but service far from acceptable. I won't be going back.

Once again we stayed at this Santana hotel, this time for New Year's Eve, which was very good. The New Year's dinner was very refined and well organized and the New Year's lunch was so varied and quality that I loved it. It's to come back again.
