All right, it can use some paint, large parking and good breakfast.

Geographisch günstig gelegenes Haus am Ausgang des Brohltals und unweit von Maria Laach. Repräsentative äußere Anmutung, die jedoch schnell von den realen Gegebenheiten enttäuscht wird. Das Haus ist hoch frequentiert durch Gesellschaften, Hochzeiten etc., die eigentlichen Zimmertrakte befinden sich in den südlich gelegenen Wirtschaftsgebäuden um einen weiten Innenhof (s. angefügten Plan). Obschon es rechts vor dem Eingang ca. 12 Parkplätze gibt und über eine Außentreppe unterhalb des Schlosses nochmals ca. 20 Stellplätze ist die Parkplatzsituation ist immer schwierig und man muß im Wohngebiet einen Stellplatz suchen. Empfang und Service sind nicht befriedigend für die Kategorie. Das Komfortzimmer zwar sehr groß aber von gähnender Leere und trostlosen Ausblicken (s. angehängte Fotos). Das Frühstücksbuffet ist unterklassig, kaum Obst, kein Müsli, keine Körner, zwei Billigkäse, Industriecroissants etc. Obschon bis 10.30 Uhr (Sa./So bis 11 Uhr, dann aber ist der Frühstücksraum wirklich brechend voll) Frückstückszeit wird man regelmäßig ab 10.10 Uhr vom Personal bedrängt, ”ob man schon abtragen könne”, ob man ”schon lüften dürfe” und ”gleich kommt ja der Reiningungsdienst...”. Nein, das geht alles in diesem Preissegment einfach nicht.

The breakfast was great and the restaurant was beautiful and looked at the Rhine. Parking is free, but it is actually stopping the road outside the hotel. Some of them are 120-year-old buildings, but some rooms are newly decorated with a large smell. I changed the room once. There is no air conditioning. All of the air conditioners are free to use. Arrived late afternoon in sweltering heat, looking forward to a cool shower and a fresh bed. Unfortunately, we were given room 106 located in an outbuilding 5 minutes walk from the main building. First impressions were not good as we passed a large dirty laundry cage situated at the beginning of a very badly marked/scuffed corridor towards a door which looked like an entrance to a cellar, badly in need of paint. My husband opened the door and pushed me backwards as the heat was unbearable. Outside was approximately 25 degrees but inside was at least 40 degrees with the window open. The room was very small, comparable with a budget hostel. The bathroom was tiny but clean. No facilities for tea/coffee, no comfy seating area, no cosmetic articles… We went back to the reception and as I explained about the heat in the room and the fact that we could not enter the room to use it. The receptionist answered sarcastically that I should open the window!!! This unleashed the beast in me as I wanted a normal hotel room that I could use. Eventually, we were given a standard double room which was basic but comfortable . There was no possibility to order food other than call for external pizza or select from turkey breast or fish which was lukewarm on the buffet style restaurant, no chips or potatoes, the only „warm „ option was rice. Fruit and vegetables available. Understandably, we could not take the dog to the restaurant however, we could take food from the buffet to the bar. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this hotel. We paid extra for our tiny dog and were offered substandard accommodation. I want to relax on holiday, I don’t want to quarrel with a receptionist to get what I paid for. Please note that this is not 4 stars according to the international classification.

Great hotel. This time we stayed in the Junior Suite. The difference with the standard room is the wider bed (180 versus 160) and more square meters. It also includes a nespresso machine and complimentary coffee cups. All rooms have a mini bar and complementary drinks. (Daily refill). Our suite had a view on the forest. Great comfortable bed and quiet room. The hotel is located in a quiet environment. Keep in mind that the shower and the sink are in the same area as your bed. You have no privacy of a separate room. For us no problem, if privacy is however needed, someone will need to leave the room. Toilet is off course in a separate room. All rooms (full hotel) has free high speed internet. The hotel offers free parking (really enough space) and they even have 2 parking spots with chargers (type 2, AC chargers from Tesla). You need to request the charging in the hotel and the cost is booked on the room. Breakfast: one word, great. Fresh food, good quality. Fresh juice, coffee maker (normal, espresso, cappuccino, latte Macchiato, Ice coffee, …). Also healthy options are available and local (sometimes even self made) products. All persons working at the hotel are polity and really helpful. They will always try to help. The hotel is also pride on their ecological footprint. We will return. Yes there are cheaper hotels available but they do not offer the same complete package and quality for us. If a quiet, comfortable sleep, clean rooms and great breakfast are important, don’t hesitate.

We stayed at Steigenberger Hotel for one night, and at the entrance it was exactly how you would expect a five star hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, that can help you where and when needed. Though when we got to the room itself we had a little unpleasant surprise. The room itself was nice, good view over the Rhine and the interior is nice. But when I dropped my phone and it fell under the bed, I went to pick it up and underneath the bed was a dirty tissue with a substance on it that looked to be semen. Also when I shined my flashlight under it to take a video of it, I found a pair of socks from the previous guests. This indicates the room was not really cleaned properly. There also was a lot of dust on the bedside tables, and a lot underneath the bed (which I myself don’t mind as it’s a hard place to vacuum). Not really up to the high five star standard, but the rest was really good. Nice views with a good bed and spacious room. The Biergarten is also beautiful, especially at sunset. I have to give it 4/5 because of the stuff we found in the room, for the rest it was a very pleasant stay.

Came last minute with my partner to take our car around the Nürburgring. I love the location and the views, the house was amazing. So clean and spacious. Drive is quite steep and big enough for two cars but also plenty of parking not far from the houses. Wish we could of stayed longer but Hopefully be back next year, will take a bike next time to explore a little more. Only downside you have to pay for spa entry even if you don’t visit.
