Excellent stay over om our holiday to Austria. Great room and the best bed. Breakfast fine and check out fine. Closed when we arrived late at 11pm but no problems with keys.

Das Einzelzimmer mit großem Bad war sauber, ruhig mit viel Platz. Das Frühstücksbuffet reichhaltig und sehr gut. Das Personal sehr freundlich und immer hilfsbereit. Schwimmen und Sauna bis 21.30 Uhr möglich. Frische Handtücher mit Bademantel immer möglich.

Bad Salzschlirf hat eine wechselvolle Geschichte in den letzten 200 Jahren hinter sich. Mal ganz oben, mal ganz unten. Die gegenwärtige Kurve zeigt aber eindeutig nach unten. Die Belle Epoque, aus der dieses Hotel stammt (1906), ist lange her, und seitdem das Thermalbad vor einigen Jahren endgültig geschlossen wurde, geht es weiter bergab. Irreparabel, soll heißen: Reparatur zu teuer. Seitdem bleiben die Gäste weg und Geschäfte und Kneipen schließen. Das ist der "Geist", der das Hotel umweht. Etwas dekadent, etwas wehmütig und etwas auch deprimierend. Die Zimmer sind relativ groß und auch nicht sonderlich teuer. Es gibt ein großes Hallenbad und diverse Restaurationseinrichtungen zu akzeptablen Preisen. Das Frühstück ist leider dürftig, insbesondere, wenn man sich vergegenwärtigt, dass man in einem 4-Sterne-Haus ist. Dafür ist der alte Kurpark recht hübsch, und eine alte, heruntergekommene und geschlossene Minigolfanlage erinnert an bessere Zeiten. Ein paar Tage Entspannung sind drin. Und das nahe Fulda lockt zu einem Abstecher.
