Bacolux Afrodita Resort & Spa, Herculane

If I have to describe the experience, I would say "frustrating" is the best to describe it. Even Though is princely it has nothing to do with the services offered that are really bad joke offered to the tourists paying for illusions. Keeping objective and leaving apart the recent bad impressions I would say that: - food quality is decent enough but also not at a 4 star level expectations - elevators are old (refurbished cabine only), slow and randomly responding, a really nightmare if you have to deal with them (steam bath inside, long waiting times, shared by tourists and personnel). - rude housekeeping personnel, not trained and nasty, doing nothing for room maintenance (towel changing, bed sheets, etc). You can get the cleaning services just if you ask for them at the reception. Personal stated they are instructed to do nothing for short stays except than taking the trash from the bins and I am convinced about this truth - no fresh air / ventilation within public areas and SPA - random operation for SPA facilities to gain savings (they are switching off facilities during the working hours without prior notice that shows a lack of respect and profit oriented attitude only) - incapacity / carelessness to deal with peak time period - everything chaotic, crowded and not organized in the restaurants area , overwhelmed personnel (probably bad payed ) that doesn't care about anything except the billing - possible TV cable not working in the room (my case) - safe's are a joke, they did not even adapt the instructions to use to the actual device - so impossible to make use of them Overall, the facility has all the premises to make you happy but the administrators (Bacolux - avoid them !) are interested only in their profit share and do nothing for the tourists and showing disrespect and creating frustrating experience. If you have a better option, don't pay to get frustrated.

Not found one single thing that’s worth 4 stars. Everything is old, damaged, food tastes really bad and selection is non existent. They have a private car park that is opened and everyone else parks there, not only hotel guests. Normally I would rate this 3 stars, but I’ve been to 3 stars much better rhan this. So I’m not sure it’s worth even the 3 stars

The room had a lot of unappreciated issues that were quite frustrating to deal with throughout the stay. First of all, the wifi did NOT work, neither in the rooms nor anywhere else in the building. This may be because we stayed over the weekend, but a nuisance nevertheless. The bathroom lights kept going out, because there was something wrong with the electrical security switch, which oftentimes gave out. Also, the shower leaked a lot of water onto the floor, flooding the bathroom multiple times. It was overall pretty unpleasant. The elevator is also slow, so expect plenty of walks up and down the stairs if you don’t want to waste half an hour on waiting for it. The spa was pretty good, and the foreign staff as well as some of the Romanian folks were very polite and helpful. The hotel is beautifully situated with a magnificent view of the mountains. The breakfast is ok, although not very varied, in my opinion.

The place has amazing spas,jacuzzi's,pools and the best food! The only missing thing is a coffee machine for those coffee lovers early in the morning before 8 am when the breakfast opens and some water filters in the pool area! The staff are very helpful and friendly!

Food was an absolute nightmare. No labels for the food or allergens involved in the production. Cockroaches present in the food area. They managed to ruin even romanian standard traditional ones like mamaliga, sarmale or piftie - not respecting any decent recipes. Everything made with the most cheap ingredients. For 4 days they have never cleaned the room. Not even the trash bins, not to say towels or bed arrangement. The whole resort looks old and completly unmaintained. Although the staff was really nice. The biggest problem is that they where happy with their work. The cook was even eating their own food. Total dissapointment. 4 stars? More like 2 and a half. To avoid not only the hotel, but the city!! Baile Herculane looks like after war - total ruin.

Beautiful area, well paired with a modern Hotel and Spa treatment. Professional service and helpful staff, Plentiful and colourful buffet served every day, A-la-cart Menu also available.Clean rooms and amenities, perfect mood all around for relaxation. Definitely will return and highly recommend.

The hotel's policy is extremely disgusting: you are only allowed to stay at the weekend for a minimum of 2 nights, and we only wanted 1 night. So, I called on Saturday morning and made a reservation for one night (besides us, there were others who did the same). Besides the fact that they have some exorbitant prices for what they offer, the lady Oana at the reception was very rude and seemed like she was scolding us. For the general manager, she should be moved as a matter of urgency because her attitude leaves much to be desired. The spa is ok, the pool, the saunas are just fine (although they only have 5 sunbeds for the whole hotel). The food is very good and the foreign staff are very kind (compared to ours). In conclusion, disappointing!

It was a very good period to go in Baile Herculane because there are not so many people. The hotel and the facilities are 5 stars. The food was very good, kind personal and clean rooms. Baile Herculane must be one of the best place for tavel and terapy.

Everything was bad , dirty room, very hard bed and at the restaurant we haar to wait more then 2 hours for the food! This is no 4 star’s hotel, maybe 2 , but you pay for the 4 stars! In the spa era it was a lot of rust,the food was normal but overpriced!
