Stayed at the Gran Relais Dei Nuraghi for our honeymoon for 10 days. Must say that the excellent staff are what make this a 5 star hotel. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. Our room had a large garden area to sit out in although the weather was very mixed for our stay which was from the 8th September. The room was cleaned daily and was very comfortable. On the rainy days we tried to watch tv but found the tv menu totally un fathomable so used my iPad to watch stuff on YouTube. A lot of rain on the 2nd day and got quite chilly in the evenings. The breakfast was very good with a good varied choice from cereal to eggs Benedict. We ate at the restaurant on 2 occasions and could not fault the food and service, especially by Ernesto the Maitre d’ who was very professional and friendly. Most nights there was a pianist playing in the lobby bar area which could be heard out by the pool. The private beach is just a short walk away and has a small bar and sun beds by the beach. The pool area is really nice but the water was very cold. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the nearest village of Baja. You pass by Foodie restaurant on the way which is well worth a visit. In Baja there are several restaurants which were all ok. The only one I would say to avoid was Corbezzolo which wasn’t good at all but maybe we went on an ‘off night’ On each Wednesday we were there there was live music in the area by the main restaurants, a mix of modern music and traditional Sardinian. Made the mistake of not booking a hire car from the airport (Olbia), as we expected there to be a hire car office in Baja or a visiting representative from Jet2 at the hotel which there was neither, so hired one through the hotel which was extremely expensive but as it was our honeymoon…🤦♂️😂 Hired a mini convertible for 3 days and visited Alghero which was about a 3 hour drive due to roadworks and traffic. If you go there make sure you also take the coast road down to Bosa which has stunning views along the way. We also went to Olbia for one of the days which is also recommended once you find somewhere to park. Use the free car park close to the ferris wheel. Visited a couple of beaches on another day but the weather wasn’t great so didn’t stay. Think we were lucky that Phi Beach party beach had closed down for the season so we didn’t experience any of the noise that others have commented on. We did walk down to Phi Beach but were met by an extremely large and aggressive security guard who made it clear that we were not welcome there! Overall this was a very nice hotel and we intended to return someday. Sardinia is a stunning island that also requires several more visits.
